He established a seminary for clerics, taught catechism to children in their dialect, celebrated a synod, held talks with his clergy, opened many schools, and showed generosity to everyone. He ate with the servants and never stopped teaching Christian doctrine. He participated in 4 conclaves. He also worked for the unity of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

They were both Czech diocesan priests who were martyred during the Communist regime in what was Czechoslovakia. They were friends who loved biking. For their Catholic faith, the communists placed them in prison where they suffered greatly. Finger clamps were used to torture Drbola until his swollen fingers broke. Bula’s torture was severe, that he lost all his front teeth. Bula was hanged a year after Drbola’s hanging. | 355 |

When he refused to worship the gods, he was tortured and thrown to the lions. But the animals did not harm him, so he was fried in a cauldron of boiling oil.
