The Jesuit Martyrs of Cuncolim, India are Bl. Rodolfo Acquaviva (Italian priest), Bl. Pietro Berno (Swiss priest), Bl. Antonio Francisco (Portuguese priest), Bl. Alonso Pacheco Alarcon (Spanish brother) and Bl. Francisco Aranha (Portuguese brother). After being barred by villagers, they planted a cross on the ground not realizing that that was the site of a temple torn down by Christians. Enraged, the villagers slaughtered them.

Several minutes ago, Bl. Elyas Butros al-Hwayek was beatified in a ceremony held at the grounds of the Summer Patriarchal Residence, Dimane, Lebanon, presided by Marcello Cardinal Semeraro. Hwayek was a Lebanese patriarch of Antioch of the Maronites. He was also the founder of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family.
