Leadership Visit | Aligning for Delivery We were honored to host H.E. Chaltu Sani, Minister, Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure/Ethiopia for a project site visit to review progress on the 4B+G+21 Head Office Building for the Documents Authentication and Registration Service. The visit brought together all key stakeholders—Client, Consultant, Contractor, and End User—creating a unified platform to assess progress, address priorities, and reinforce our shared commitment to successful delivery. The progress achieved over the past few months was recognized and commended. More importantly, the visit reaffirmed a collective alignment: maintaining momentum, strengthening coordination, and delivering a facility that meets the expectations of the end user. At ECWC, we believe projects succeed when stakeholders move as one team—with clarity, accountability, and purpose. We remain fully committed to delivering this landmark project successfully.

Building Forward: Learning, Reflecting, Improving We held a Lessons Learned Session bringing together our valued client, Ethiopian Airlines, the Engineer—Ethiopian Engineering Corporation (EEC) & Prominent Engineering Solutions—along with our Project Managers from the Negele and Markos Airport projects and our Head Office support team. Together, we assessed the success factors that enabled the substantial completion of these airport projects—allowing Ethiopian Airlines to commence operations—and captured clear, actionable lessons to strengthen delivery on upcoming work. At ECWC, this is how we institutionalize knowledge, deepen collaboration, and continuously elevate execution. We concluded by recognizing the team’s efforts, with certificates awarded by Daniel Abebe—( Group VP Strategic Planning and Alliances ) celebrating achievement while reinforcing our commitment to continuous improvement. At ECWC, every project builds the next one.

Delivering at Scale: Advancing Ethiopia’s Housing Agenda Ethiopia has set an ambitious target—1.5 million homes in five years
Delivering at Scale: Advancing Ethiopia’s Housing Agenda Ethiopia has set an ambitious target—1.5 million homes in five years. ECWC is aligned to support this national priority. At the Akaki Kality housing project, our prefabrication wing is delivering the structural package—bringing speed, consistency, and quality to large-scale urban housing. In the past 7 months since the revised contract: * 1,204 units completed (Phase 1& 2) (1,064 residential + 140 commercial) * 616 units in progress (Phase 3 & 4) on track for completion within the next 3 months This will bring total delivery to 1,820 units—completed within just 10 months. Our role is straightforward: Deliver at scale. Deliver on time. Support national priorities. This progress reflects stronger execution and the growing role of industrialized construction through prefab in how we deliver.

Matias T. Hailemariam, Director for Africa – Kaizen Institute, didn’t talk about transformation buzzwords—he talked about leadership responsibility: going to the gemba, knowing your customer, empowering people, being transparent, delivering results as a team, and building systems that solve problems daily instead of relying on firefighting. Thank you for such an honest, experience-backed perspective. We saw these principles come to life at EPSS (Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Supply Service), where the focus was not on big investments but on rebuilding operations with discipline. The result—near-perfect accuracy, significantly lower costs, and transformed service levels. The takeaway is clear: Kaizen is not a concept—it’s a management system. And when applied seriously, it delivers real turnarounds.

What does real reform actually take? We explored this question with Dagmawi Hailiye, CEO of Ethiopost, during an experience-sharing session with our management team. Ethiopost’s transformation wasn’t accidental. Its 2021–2023 interventions focused on four priorities: competitive services, resource optimization, financial strength, and institutional capacity — now sustained through a clear deepen and diversify strategy. Key lessons: • Start with the customer • Fix the fundamentals • Align structure to strategy • Digitalize with purpose • Think beyond legacy The takeaway: reform isn’t theory — it’s disciplined execution. As ECWC advances its own turnaround, we are learning — and applying. We thank Dagmawi for his leadership and openness.

We celebrated the completion of our six-month QA/QC Engineers Development Program. Over the past six months, our Engineers have grown technically and personally—through labs, factory visits, and real project work. We believe quality isn't achieved by inspection alone—it's built into every process and decision. They don't just find defects. They prevent them. They don't just enforce standards. They build a culture of quality. As ECWC advances its turnaround, our QA/QC Engineers will be key to delivering work that is Right First Time, On Time, building client trust, and creating lasting value. Congratulations to all. This isn't the end—it's just the beginning.

The 3rd Cohort of our Leadership Development Program presented their final projects ahead of graduation. Six teams. Real challenges. Practical solutions. From shifting adversarial relationships into true partnerships… to strengthening site security… to investing in real estate and aluminum formwork… to building stronger contracts — from price adjustments to performance-based compensation. What stood out most was ownership. Our people are stepping forward, owning our issues, and solving them. This is the power of a strong, trusting culture. It breaks silos. It drives collaboration. It delivers results. At ECWC, our turnaround is built on people, culture, and leadership. This is our foundation. This is our winning edge. Congratulations to our delegates as they complete this six-month journey.
