Kesem is complete — and it changed us. This project pushed our team to grow, especially in complex underwater works. We are better because of it. Our client is delighted. The community is thankful. And for a local farmer, water is now a reality — not a hope. This is why we build. #KesemDam #LearningByDoing #ECWC #BuildingImpact

From Challenge to Completion: Lessons from the Turnaround of Africa’s Most Complex Hydropower Megaproject — GERD We had the privilege of hosting Eng. Kifle Horo for a powerful experience-sharing session with our management team — reflecting on the journey of delivering one of Africa’s most complex megaprojects. Key lessons: The GERD experience reinforced critical lessons for all of us: * Face reality early — diagnose root causes without hesitation * Lead from the front — execution requires active, decisive leadership * Break silos — align teams around one shared goal * Stay flexible, but disciplined — adapt without losing control * Protect quality while accelerating delivery * Build momentum through milestones and real-time coordination Most importantly, it reminded us that great projects don’t just deliver infrastructure — they build institutions, capability, and confidence. At ECWC, this resonates deeply. we remain committed to learning, improving, and executing with excellence — together.

Learning Together. Improving Together. Delivering Better — Together. ECWC had the honor of hosting a high-level Lessons Learned Session at our head office, bringing together the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands, the Engineer, and our project teams to reflect on three successfully delivered irrigation projects — Kesem, Tendaho, and Gidabo. Graced by H.E. Dr. Abraham Belay, Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands, the session was a powerful demonstration of true partnership — where all stakeholders came together with openness and humility to assess what we did well, where we faced challenges, and how we can improve going forward. This was more than a review — it was a shared commitment to continuous learning, stronger collaboration, and raising the standard of delivery for future national projects. In recognition of the dedication and excellence demonstrated, both the project teams and the Engineer were awarded certificates of appreciation — a testament to the collective effort behind these achievements. ECWC extends its sincere appreciation to the Ministry, the Engineer, and all our teams for the trust, collaboration, and professionalism that made these projects a success. When we learn together, we build better — for our clients, our country, and our future.
