In response, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, declared that "the UK should not be teaching and lecturing states, including permanent members of the Security Council, about adherence to international law." He added that the UK and Western countries have "long distanced themselves" from international law. Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel stated that any country with influence should promote the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.
