A major fire broke out on Saturday at the burial site of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (the Alter Rebbe) in Hadiach, Poltava Oblast, Ukraine.
The fire reportedly damaged the historic synagogue, the pilgrimage reception center, and parts of the religious complex surrounding the grave. The site is one of the most important destinations in Chabad-Lubavitch Judaism, attracting tens of thousands of pilgrims from around the world each year, particularly around the anniversary of the Alter Rebbe’s passing.
Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (1745–1812) was the founder of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement and author of the Tanya, one of the foundational texts of Hasidic Judaism. Authorities have not yet announced the cause of the fire.

Zaporozhye region head Yevgeny Balitsky confirmed Russian EMERCOM crews have finished search-and-rescue work at the resort town of Kirillovka. One more body was pulled from the rubble, bringing the toll to 12 dead and 19 wounded. Two people were rescued alive, including one child.
