‘Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the passing of two U.S. service members and the missing status of one in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17.
After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing.
Separately, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone.

| 7 | 🇪🇺🇷🇺 Support for new EU sanctions against Russia is visibly eroding, according to the Financial Times.
The paper reports that a growing number of EU member states are demanding exemptions from new restrictions or blocking individual measures outright, citing fears of damage to their own companies.
Citing diplomats, FT notes that during discussions of the latest sanctions package, Greece, France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Portugal all pushed for carve-outs. One diplomat told the paper: "The moral imperative is working less and less around the table... All the capitals agree with the tough rhetoric and talk about solidarity, but then it all melts away."
Another diplomat called it "a serious crisis for the whole sanctions approach," warning that "if everyone demands opt-outs and loopholes, then at the end of the process every sanctions package will just be an empty box."
Sources told FT that rising economic costs, weakening resolve to keep backing Ukraine, and expectations of a possible peace deal are all shaping the mood in Brussels. Bruegel senior fellow Jacob Kirkegaard says the EU is already "close to peak sanctions" against Russia, as governments increasingly prioritize protecting their core economic interests over imposing new restrictions.

Kim Il Sung congratulated Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979, and relations between the two countries expanded throughout the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq War. In 1989, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei traveled to Pyongyang for a historic meeting with Kim Il Sung, symbolizing a partnership that has endured for nearly half a century.
The alliances and relationships now being described as an “axis” were not created in response to today’s conflicts. They are the product of decades of cooperation among states that have largely operated outside the Western-led political order.
