In May the number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status increased in 22 out of 26 EU countries. The largest increase was in Italy, with an increase of 6,250 people (+15.3%). Germany follows with an increase of 3,610 people (+0.3%), and Spain with an increase of 2,295 people (+0.9%).
However, the number of Ukrainian refugees decreased in four countries. The largest decrease was in Bulgaria, with a decrease of 12,345 people (-14.8%). Poland follows with a decrease of 3,750 people (-0.4%), and France with a decrease of 665 people (-1.3%).
Eurostat notes that sharp monthly decreases may not be due to a mass exodus of refugees, but rather to specific national procedures for removing recipients of temporary protection from the records.
Overall, at the end of May, 4.38 million people who had fled Ukraine had temporary protection status in the EU. This number increased by 7,795 people, or 0.2%, during the month.

The publication reports that the European Commission has reached a preliminary conclusion that features such as endless scrolling, autoplay, and recommendation algorithms may harm the mental health of users, especially children and adolescents.
The company could be fined up to 6% of its annual revenue for violating the Digital Services Act if it fails to comply with the Commission's requirements.

It has not yet been possible to determine the sex of the newborn kittens, nor have names been chosen for them.
The Hermitage cats began their history in the early 18th century, and are local celebrities in their own right - around 50 of them live in the museum. They even have their own day and a special tour for the people who want to get to know them.
