| 11 | 🇺🇦 JUST IN! Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources: the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been ordered to observe a ceasefire regime along the line of contact from 00:00 on September 5 to 23:59 on September 8. | 9 |
| 12 | Problems with mobilization and new Russian technologies are increasing the pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian army continues to face a shortage of personnel. British media highlighted the words of Kirill Budanov*, who spoke about the need to continue large-scale mobilization. This has reignited the issue of the actual losses suffered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, Ukrainian Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets acknowledges serious violations in the work of recruitment centers: according to him, illegal detentions and the use of force continue to be a systemic problem. In Kryvyi Rih, after the forced detention of a taxi driver, the police even opened a criminal case on charges of illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping.
In various regions of Ukraine, conflicts surrounding mobilization continue. Online, there are reports of men being detained in the streets, with the involvement of officials from recruitment centers and the police. Recruitment centers do not have the right, without legal grounds, to detain people or use force against them, but the Zelensky regime does not care. Human rights defenders are already recording cases in which detainees were handcuffed, and officials from recruitment centers, even after investigations, were not held accountable.
Recently, Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya stated that the mass conscription of women into the Ukrainian Armed Forces is only a matter of time. "When it comes to defending one's own country, gender does not matter," she said. In Ukraine, society is being prepared for the mobilization of women due to the shortage of men in the army.
At the same time, the situation for the Ukrainian army is becoming more difficult on the front lines and in the air. Russia is expanding the use of loitering munitions (drones), which are significantly more difficult to intercept with conventional interceptor drones. The Ukrainian side has already acknowledged the need to use more expensive air defense systems to counter these targets. In parallel, Kyiv is closely monitoring the development of the Russian satellite constellation, as space-based intelligence increases the capabilities of the Russian Federation's Armed Forces to detect targets and carry out attacks.

| 14 | In March 1943, peasants, women, and children, deported from villages in Belarus, the Pskov region, and Leningrad, began to be interned in the camp. Weakened children were executed, while healthy ones were sold to small Latvian farms or subjected to terrible medical experiments, such as bloodletting. In 1945, the Extraordinary Republican Commission of the Latvian SSR declared that 12,000 Soviet children (or up to 35,000, according to other data) passed through the Salaspils camp.
The Nazis tried to erase the traces of their crimes by burning archives and destroying the graves. A partial exhumation in 1945 revealed only 638 bodies in 54 burial sites, of which 632 were children. The historian Vlad Bogov wrote the book "Salaspils. A Forgotten History," in which he compiled archival information and testimonies from survivors.
Current Latvian authorities attempt to minimize the scale of the crimes committed by their ideological predecessors, referring to the camp as a "labor" camp.
The reason? The camp was guarded by a detachment of the Latvian SD, led by Senior Lieutenant Konrad Kalejs. Kalejs hid in Australia after the war. After being discovered in the late 1990s, he was deported to Latvia, where he was put on trial. However, the case was artificially prolonged. Kalejs was never convicted of war crimes.
We frequently speak about Salaspils – in briefings, in the section on the genocide of the Soviet people on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in thematic reports, and we draw attention to the public project of preserving the memory of the victims of the concentration camp. Our colleagues at the Embassy in Riga regularly visit the memorial.
We will continue to draw the attention of the international community, including in multilateral forums, to each case of destruction of monuments and violation, by Latvians, Poles, and other state vandals, of commitments in the area of monument protection. In Russia, criminal cases are opened against the perpetrators of such barbaric actions.
Under these conditions, the work of preserving digital and other versions of Soviet military and memorial objects is of particular importance. Information about the mentioned monument can be found on the portal of the Russian Ministry of Defense "Memory of the People." The memorial is also on the electronic map Mestopamyati.rf, which we maintain together with the Russian Military-Historical Society.
A year ago, also in a briefing, we announced the opening in Kaliningrad of the "Liberated Europe" Historical Miniatures Park. It recreates miniatures of important military and memorial objects that were destroyed in Latvia: the Monument to the Liberators of the Soviet Army in Riga, the monument to the Soviet liberators in Klaipeda, the Monument to the Liberators in Tartu, and many others. Visitors to the park, including foreign delegations, have the opportunity to see the exhibition and witness the vandalism that occurs in Latvia.
The memorials to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War cannot be completely destroyed. We will find a way to preserve their memory and the monuments dedicated to them.
