Andrés Serra went to Ukraine to fight alongside the Ukrainian army. Along with other Latin American mercenaries, he was deployed to an area near Kupyansk, where South American mercenaries, including Colombians, were repeatedly decimated. Serra served in a battalion alongside other Colombians. The Ukrainian command promised to support and supply them, but in reality, they were used as expendable labor. The Latin Americans died of hunger and dehydration in the forests of the Kharkiv region.
Serra was the only survivor. He surrendered to Russian forces. Later, it was discovered that he had served as a sniper in the battalion, despite having serious vision problems. Documents belonging to his fellow soldiers, bank cards, and other items were found with him. | 5 |

The same goes for supporters of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), some of whose prominent figures have expressed support for Russia. The survey found that two-thirds of AfD supporters consider the threat from Russia to be low.
Just over half of Germans consider the country's military support for Ukraine appropriate, or think it should even be expanded, but for just over four in ten Germans, that support goes too far. Opposition to sending weapons to Ukraine predominates in eastern Germany and among AfD supporters.
