The life imprisonment of Gullzadi Baloch follows grave concerns that BYC had already placed on record regarding the fairness of these very proceedings. As BYC stated on 8 September 2026, the presiding judge had, on multiple occasions, remarked that he was under pressure and might have to award life imprisonment or even a death sentence. Such remarks from the bench, made before the conclusion of trial, struck directly at the presumption of her innocence and at public confidence in judicial independence. Today's verdict confirms that these were not passing remarks but a foretelling of a predetermined outcome.

یہ محض نقل مکانی کا حکم نہیں بلکہ اجتماعی سزا اور اجتماعی خوف مسلط کرنے کی پالیسی ہے۔ کسی فرد یا گروہ کے خلاف کارروائی کی قیمت پوری آبادی سے وصول کرنا اجتماعی سزا ہے، اور جب یہی عمل کسی مخصوص قومی شناخت رکھنے والی آبادی کو مسلسل بے دخل کرنے، اس کے معاشی وسائل چھیننے اور اس کی سماجی زندگی کو توڑنے کی صورت اختیار کرے تو یہ نسل کشی کے وسیع تر عمل سے جڑ جاتا ہے۔ لوگوں کو ان بستیوں سے نکالنا جہاں ان کے گھر، زمینیں، روزگار اور نسلوں کی زندگی وابستہ ہے، انہیں صرف بے گھر کرنا نہیں بلکہ انہیں آہستہ آہستہ موت کے حوالے کرنا ہے۔
بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی واضح کرتی ہے کہ بلوچ عوام کو ان کی قومی شناخت کی بنیاد پر اجتماعی سزا دینا اور ان کی آبادیوں کو خوف، جبری نقل مکانی اور محرومی کے ذریعے منتشر کرنا قابلِ قبول نہیں۔ شادی کور، مستونگ اور بلوچستان کے دیگر علاقوں میں مقامی آبادیوں کی جبری نقل مکانی بھی اسی جابرانہ تسلسل کی کڑیاں ہیں، جہاں عام لوگوں کو ان کے گھروں، زمینوں، روزگار اور معمول کی زندگی سے محروم کیا جا رہا ہے۔ اجتماعی سزا کا مقصد صرف لوگوں کو بے دخل کرنا نہیں بلکہ اس کا مقصد خوف پیدا کرنا، سوال ختم کرنا، اجتماعی مزاحمت توڑنا اور ایک محکوم آبادی پر اطاعت مسلط رکھنا ہے۔
بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی جبری انخلا کے ان احکامات کو دوٹوک الفاظ میں مسترد کرتی ہے اور مطالبہ کرتی ہے کہ یہ احکامات فوری طور پر واپس لیے جائیں، مقامی آبادی کو تحفظ فراہم کیا جائے اور انہیں اپنے گھروں اور آبائی علاقوں میں آزادانہ، باعزت اور محفوظ زندگی گزارنے کا حق دیا جائے۔بلوچستان کے عوام کو اجتماعی سزا دے کر خاموش نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ کسی قوم کو اس کی زمین، شناخت اور اجتماعی زندگی سے کاٹنے کی پالیسی کو معمول نہیں بنایا جا سکتا۔ | 187 |

| 6 | Gullzadi Baloch, a woman human rights defender and a member of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Judge Qadir Shah Bukhari.
Before the verdict, he said on record, more than once, that he was "under pressure" and might have to award life imprisonment or death.
On 7 September, despite a lawyers' strike and no defence counsel present, the court pressed on anyway, cross-examining a witness with no one representing Gullzadi.
This violates Article 10-A of Pakistan's Constitution and Article 14(3) of the ICCPR.
This is the third life sentence handed to BYC leadership in three months.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji were sentenced to life on 22 June, in a faceless trial.
Three separate cases. One outcome, every time.
The pressure doesn't stop at one judge's bench, Balochistan High Court's own Chief Justice, Kamran Khan Mulakhail, is pushing lower courts toward conviction even as he sits on the same leaders' bail applications.
This is bigger than one judge. In Pakistan, not even the judiciary is independent of the Pakistan’s Army, ISI and MI. They decided BYC's leadership would be punished;
Separate courts, in separate cases, are simply delivering that verdict one by one.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) condemns today's life sentence for Gullzadi Baloch, handed down by Additional Sessions Judge-I Qadir Shah Bukhari in Case No. 15/22.
BYC had already flagged concerns over these proceedings. As BYC stated on 8 September 2026, the judge had repeatedly said he was under pressure and might have to award life imprisonment or death, remarks made before trial's end that undermined the presumption of innocence and judicial independence. Today's verdict confirms this was a foretold outcome, not a passing comment.
BYC had also placed on record that on 7 September, despite a court strike and the defence's absence, the court proceeded and cross-examined a witness with no defence representation, falling short of the fair-trial guarantees under Article 10-A of the Constitution and Article 14(3)(b) and (d) of the ICCPR.
This is the third life sentence against BYC's leadership in three months, following those of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji in June, a pattern suggesting the judiciary is being used to remove the movement's leadership rather than try cases on their merits.
BYC rejects the verdict, noting that a judge who admits pressure to convict cannot be seen as neutral, and that the burden of proving impartiality lies with the judiciary, not the convicted. Despite the conviction, Gullzadi Baloch and BYC's leadership remain resolute, and their peaceful struggle for truth, the recovery of the disappeared, and Baloch rights continues.
BYC calls on appellate courts and constitutional authorities to independently and promptly review the life sentence, examine the judge's conduct, and restore due process. No institution should be permitted to convert the judicial process into an instrument of political punishment. | 202 |

𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 19, 2026 - 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙧, 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞:
Yahya, son of Wahid Marri, was a 23-year-old who had recently moved to Hub Chowki in search of work so that he could earn a living and support his family. On 5 July 2026, his life was shattered when he was forcibly disappeared from Hub Chowki by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). For two months and 14 days, his family was left in anguish, deprived of any information about his whereabouts and denied the basic right to know whether he was alive. On 19 September, his body was found dumped in Manghopir, Karachi, following what was presented as a fake encounter. Hilal Syed, who had also left Tump and moved to Hub Chowki to work and earn a living, was killed in the same manner.
Yahya and Hilal had left their hometown with the simple hope of building ordinary lives through honest work. They were seeking nothing more than safety, dignity, and the ability to earn two meals a day. Instead, their search for a livelihood ended in disappearance and death. Their families were denied the right to see them return home alive, and their lives were reduced to encounter claims rather than being protected through due process and the rule of law.
For Baloch families, the disappearance of a loved one is not merely the loss of contact; it is months of fear, uncertainty, unanswered questions, and the constant hope that the missing person will walk back through the door. When that hope is eventually replaced by a dead body, the grief becomes irreversible. No family should have to endure such suffering, and no person should be deprived of life without a fair judicial process.
The international human rights community must urgently investigate the enforced disappearance and killing of Yahya Wahid Marri and Hilal Syed, as well as the wider pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch people. Independent and impartial investigations must establish what happened to them, who was responsible, and whether their deaths were carried out through unlawful force or staged encounters. Those responsible must be held accountable in accordance with international human rights standards.

Hilal Sayad, son of Sayad, a 28-year-old young worker and resident of Malikabad, Tump. On 05 July 2026, He was unconstitutionally arrested from his home in Hub Chowki, Balochistan. On 19 September 2026, he was extrajudicially killed in a fake encounter by CTD in Karachi.
For more than three months, the whereabouts of Hilal Sayad have remained unknown to his family members. This unconstitutional act of apprehension further complicated the situation when he was brutally executed in a fake encounter by the heinous Criminals Department CTD.
After an illegal abduction of Hilal, the supreme institution of the state failed to protect and ensure his safety. It reflects that it is not only the Counter Terrorism Department that is officially complicit in the killing of innocent civilians, but also institutions like the courts are as responsible as other institutions, too.
BYC demands that international and national human rights defenders and journalists take serious action to protect those deliberately inciting human rights violations in Balochistan. As innocent individuals, Hilal Sayad, BYC appeals for a completely transparent, impartial investigation and free and fair United Nations (UN) reporting on the extrajudicial killings of common Baloch people in Balochistan.

گزشتہ دو برسوں میں جبری گمشدگیوں کے خلاف بلوچستان میں جس وسیع عوامی مزاحمت اور سیاسی شعور کا اظہار ہوا، اس کے جواب میں ریاستی جبر میں کمی کے بجائے مزید شدت دیکھی گئی۔ خصوصاً گزشتہ ایک سال کے دوران بلوچ خواتین کی جبری گمشدگیوں کے واقعات میں اضافہ ہوا ہے، جن میں نوجوان خواتین، حاملہ خواتین اور کم عمر لڑکیوں تک کو نشانہ بنائے جانے کے واقعات شامل ہیں۔ لیکن اس جبر کی انتہا یہ ہے کہ کسی خاتون کو پہلے جبری طور پر لاپتہ کیا جائے، اسے اس کے خاندان اور دنیا سے چھین لیا جائے، اور پھر اسی شخص کو ایک مخصوص ریاستی بیانیے کے اظہار کے لیے پریس کانفرنس کے سامنے لا کھڑا کیا جائے۔
خدیجہ بلوچ کے معاملے میں ان کے والدین نے بی ایم سی میں ایک ماہ تک احتجاج کیا اور اپنی بیٹی کی بازیابی کا مطالبہ کیا۔ ان کا واضح مؤقف تھا کہ ان کی بیٹی کو جبری گمشدگی کا شکار بنانے کے بعد جبری پریس کانفرنس کے لیے مجبور کیا جا رہا ہے۔ ایک ایسے شخص کو، جسے پہلے اس کے خاندان اور عوام سے جبری طور پر الگ کیا گیا ہو، بعد ازاں میڈیا کے سامنے لا کر اس کے بیان کو رضاکارانہ سیاسی اظہار کے طور پر پیش کرنا ریاستی جبر کی حقیقت کو چھپا نہیں سکتا۔
صفیہ بلوچ کے معاملے میں بھی بنیادی سوال آج تک اپنی جگہ موجود ہے: ایک بیس سالہ نوجوان خاتون کو جبری گمشدگی کے دوران کہاں رکھا گیا؟ اسے کس قانونی اختیار کے تحت حراست میں رکھا گیا؟ اور اس دوران اس کے ساتھ کیا سلوک کیا گیا؟ ان سوالات کا جواب کسی پریس کانفرنس سے نہیں بلکہ شفاف قانونی کارروائی اور آزادانہ تحقیقات سے دیا جانا چاہیے۔
کسی بھی بلوچ خاتون کو جبری گمشدگی کا شکار بنانا، اسے طویل عرصے تک اس کے خاندان سے الگ رکھنا اور پھر ایک مخصوص ریاستی بیانیے کے لیے میڈیا کے سامنے پیش کرنا انسانی آزادی، شخصی وقار اور بنیادی قانونی حقوق کی سنگین خلاف ورزی ہے۔ بلوچ قوم ایسے جبر کو نہ خاموشی سے قبول کرے گی اور نہ جبری بیانیے کو عوامی حقیقت کا متبادل تسلیم کرے گی۔
