▫️Pedophile 'False Prophet' Stuns Court in Horrific Child Abuse Case
PHOENIX, Arizona (ABC4) — A Utah couple went undercover inside a polygamist sect and helped expose its leader for sex trafficking underage girls just four years ago.
Today, that Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) sect leader, Samuel Bateman, is serving a 50-year federal prison sentence for orchestrating sex involving children. Bateman was most recently convicted Friday on additional state child abuse charges after underage girls were found in an unventilated trailer in Arizona in 2022, according to reporting by the Associated Press.
UPDATE: Following our recording, Samuel Bateman was convicted on all three state counts of child abuse. It took jurors only 40 minutes to deliberate. Bateman is now scheduled to be sentenced August 25.

▫️Man Tied to Montgomery County Ministries Arrested, Extradited to Texas on Child Indecency Charges
Leland Fleming, 65, was arrested and extradited to Montgomery County, Texas, on charges of indecency with a child after allegations surfaced involving his work with local religious ministries and youth groups.
Deputies were called May 8, 2026, to the 18000 block of Cooper Road in Conroe after a report of indecency with a child. Authorities said three adult women later described alleged abuse that stretched back years, with claims dating to the 1990s.
Investigators identified the suspect as 65-year-old Leland Fleming. Fleming was located in Madison County, Arkansas, and taken into custody with help from local authorities, investigators said. He was extradited back to Montgomery County on June 25 and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond. He faces two counts of indecency with a child.
The case remains active. Because of Fleming’s reported involvement with youth-related organizations, the Sheriff’s Office urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-538-5900 and reference case number 26A156874.

▫️Las Vegas police seek more victims after dance teacher charged with child sex assault
LAS VEGAS — Police in Las Vegas are searching for additional victims after the arrest of a local dance teacher accused of sexually assaulting children.
Gregory Chatman, 29, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of sexual assault with a child under 14 and one count of lewdness with a child under 14. According to his Facebook and Instagram pages, Chatman was the director of Taste of the South Dance Studio in Las Vegas.
Anyone who believes they may have been victimized, or who has information that could help investigators, is urged to call the Sexual Assault Detail at 702-828-3421.
Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Nevada at 702-385-5555 or online. Metro’s public information office says the investigation remains active and is encouraging anyone with relevant information to speak up so detectives can fully develop the case.

SAN FRANCISCO -- As the Bay Area hosts FIFA World Cup matches, law enforcement agencies say they are increasing vigilance for potential human trafficking.
Between June 12 and June 20, officers arrested a man suspected of soliciting prostitution while carrying a loaded firearm. A traffic stop at Turk and Mason streets led to the discovery of an underage human trafficking victim. Investigators also identified and dismantled a brothel on Bryant Street.
Authorities emphasize that human trafficking remains an issue beyond any single event. Officials are urging the public to report suspicious activity, including signs that someone is being controlled, appears fearful or injured, is not speaking for themselves, or is not free to leave. Oklahoma City police arrested a man after a woman said he threatened her at gunpoint to force her into prostitution.
The suspect has not been charged yet, so his name has not been released. Police said they are offering resources to help the victim if she chooses to accept them.

Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced that anti-human trafficking initiative Operation Stark Reality was a success.
Operation Stark Reality was carried out on June 25 in Starkville and led to three adult victims and one child being rescued from human traffickers, as well as one arrest. As a part of Fitch’s ongoing mission to crack down on human trafficking in Mississippi, her operation has resulted in 205 arrests and nearly 400 victims recovered. ▫️Frederick County Human Trafficking Operation Leads to Arrest, Identification of Suspected Victims
Frederick, MD – A two-day human trafficking enforcement operation in Frederick County resulted in the arrest of one man on sex trafficking charges and the identification of numerous individuals believed to be victims of human trafficking.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office announced that detectives arrested 52-year-old William Dorsey of Toledo, Ohio, following a traffic stop during the operation. Dorsey was charged with sex trafficking and was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
A key part of the operation was the immediate availability of victim advocacy services. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit, Heartly House, and Safe House Project worked alongside investigators to provide crisis intervention, safety planning, resource referrals, and support to individuals encountered during the enforcement effort.

A 13-year-old girl was raped by a man who followed her off an MTA bus and dragged her into a Bronx park, cops said. The suspect trailed the victim as she exited a Bx9 bus at Broadway and W. 261st St. in North Riverdale around 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to law enforcement.
As the bus drove off, the creep grabbed the victim and pulled her into a wooded area of Van Cortlandt Park, where he sexually assaulted her. Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

GILA COUNTY, Ariz. - More information is emerging about the arrest of two brothers in Globe after police say a 13-year-old girl was taken last Friday, June 19, and driven across county lines.
Police say the teen was held against her will and sexually assaulted between the time she was taken last Friday and the arrests were made Wednesday, June 24. Manuel Sanchez is a registered sex offender and was convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in the 1990s.
He's being held on a $1 million bond on charges related to kidnapping and tampering. Patrick Sanchez is facing the sex crimes charge in this case, and his bond is at $500,000. Both are set to appear in court next month.

The verdict is final.
In the end, the appeals court overturned the original verdict of the Klatovy District Court, which had sentenced the former physical education teacher to two years in prison. The court has now sentenced him to a two-year suspended sentence with a five-year probation period.

▫️37 Saginaw priests named in state report of sex abuse allegations
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has released the sixth of seven extensive reports detailing allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct in the state’s Catholic diocese.
The 258-page report focuses on allegations involving the Diocese of Saginaw since 1950. It identifies 37 priests and one deacon accused of misconduct and includes detailed description of the allegations against them, Nessel said.

▫️Church employee arrested, charged with felony sexual abuse charges involving children, police say
LAKE JACKSON, Texas -- The Lake Jackson Police Department says a one-time church employee is currently in the Brazoria County Jail without bond for allegedly committing multiple sex acts against children.
An official with the department says Adrian Gerard Johnson was employed at Destiny Church in Clute at the time of the incidents, but wouldn't confirm whether or not they were directly connected to his position. An indictment against Johnson indicates he's been charged with 18 counts related to alleged sexual acts with children. They include multiple accounts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual performance by a child, sexual assault of a child, and trafficking of a person. The indictment shows Johnson has also been charged with single counts of compelling prostitution, indecency with a child by exposure, and bigamy.
The Lake Jackson Police Department is asking anyone who could be a victim in this case to please reach out to law enforcement.

▫️Son of former church leaders arrested following investigation by Christian group that pursues accused child predators
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – The Palatka Police Department issued a statement Thursday surrounding the recent arrest of 26-year-old Caleb Roberts, who served at Victory Church in Palatka.
In April, Operation 17:2 posted a video on YouTube of the group confronting Roberts at a drug store and accusing him of traveling to meet a minor. Operation 17:2 describes itself as a nonprofit that identifies and pursues accused child predators, named after Bible verse Luke 17:2.
Roberts faces four charges: Traveling to meet a minor; Unlawful use of a two-way communication device; Transmission of harmful material to a minor by electronic device & Soliciting a child, or a person believed to be a child, for unlawful sexual conduct using a computer service or electronic device

▫️Harrisburg man convicted of kidnapping 2-year-old during Hall Manor standoff
A Dauphin County jury convicted Antonio Hammond of kidnapping a 2-year-old girl and multiple other charges stemming from a 2023 hostage situation in Hall Manor, according to Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo.
Prosecutors said Hammond held the toddler, who has autism, for nearly five hours while armed with a handgun. Harrisburg Police Commissioner Tom Carter spoke with Hammond early in the standoff and urged him to release the child and surrender safely, but Hammond refused, according to authorities. Because Hammond has a prior aggravated assault conviction involving serious bodily injury, the kidnapping conviction counts as a second-strike offense and carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.

Danny St. Louis, 45, purposely introduced a then-13-year-old Emmarae Gervasi to hard drugs in an effort to get her hooked, have total control over her, and sexually abuse the pre-teen while employing the same method to the two other women he was trafficking for profit, said Suffolk County prosecutors.
Gervasi first made national headlines after her father stormed aboard a 56-foot yacht docked at Whitecap Marina in Islip and found his missing daughter being sex trafficked.

▫️Presque Isle man pleads guilty to child sex crimes
A Presque Isle man who allegedly used social media to proposition minors pleaded guilty Thursday.
Joseph Maile, 27, pleaded guilty under terms of a plea deal to one count of attempted sex trafficking of a minor, one count of enticement of a minor, and one count of attempted enticement of a minor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. The FBI arrested Maile last May for attempted sex trafficking, following an earlier investigation at his Presque Isle home.
Maile used Snapchat to solicit sexual images from minors and to offer money to have sex with minors, according to court records.

▫️Pa. spa operators accused of human trafficking, forcing women to perform sex acts
MONTOURSVILLE — Two women have been charged with human trafficking and involuntary servitude by operating a Lycoming County spa that police say was a front for prostitution.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Xia Sun, 42, of Philadelphia, who police identified as the owner/operator of Jia Yuan Spa on Broad Street, Montoursville, and Liuping Li, 49, of Queens, N.Y.
Li was arrested when police raided the spa on May 2, and at that time was charged with promoting prostitution and released after posting $200,000 bail.
According to an affidavit filed by police, Li was living at the spa, although she has an address in Queens, and was a manager, handling the finances and paying the bills.

▫️Former New Jersey middle school teacher indicted on new charges including manufacturing child abuse material
A former New Jersey middle school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student was indicted Wednesday on new charges, including manufacturing child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said.
Ashley Fisler, 36, of Washington Township, now faces a 12-count indictment that also includes sexual assault of a minor and a pattern of official misconduct, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
According to prosecutors, the alleged victim, who is now an adult, told police he had an unlawful sexual relationship with Fisler while he was a minor and she was his teacher at Orchard Valley Middle School. Prosecutors said the victim described multiple sexual encounters that allegedly took place in Fisler's vehicle and classroom in 2021.

SAN FRANCISCO - A Daly City resident was charged in connection with human trafficking offenses after being arrested while driving a minor through San Francisco.
Court documents show that 28-year-old Otis Broughton has been charged with human trafficking involving a minor by force and pandering by encouraging.
Broughton and another man were arrested after allegedly driving along Turk Street at a high speed and making quick, unsafe lane changes.

▫️Upstate NY man who ran an online extremist network pleads guilty to coercing minor to send images
A 20-year-old Upstate New York man who was an administrator of an online extremist network that targeted vulnerable minors has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
Jerry N. Butler III of Walton (Delaware County) admitted in federal court that he used a social media messaging app to coerce an out-of-state minor into creating and sending sexually explicit images of herself during January and February 2025. Federal investigators also discovered Butler served as administrator of an online offshoot of “764,” a nihilistic, violent extremist network.
Butler will be sentenced on Oct. 16. He faces between five and 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and supervised release ranging from five years to life. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison

▫️Elkhorn Man & Girlfriend Arrested for Sex Trafficking, Assault & Weapons Possession | Omaha
An Elkhorn man and his girlfriend are facing felony charges after a SWAT team served a search warrant at an Omaha apartment — uncovering an alleged sex trafficking operation and seizing nine firearms.
Trey Scott, 31, was booked into Douglas County Corrections on Wednesday on two counts of 2nd-degree assault and one count of sex trafficking. His girlfriend, Alissa Kellum, 26, faces a charge of aiding and abetting a fugitive.
According to court documents, a woman told authorities she was trafficked by Scott from Sioux Falls to Omaha and forced to work as a stripper and cam girl. Scott allegedly assaulted the victim and forced her to get a tattoo bearing his brand name, "Rich Habits."
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Group served the warrant at an apartment near Q Road and George B. Lake Parkway — directly across from Millard Horizon High School. Nine firearms were recovered at the scene. Scott was already on pre-trial release supervision from a February narcotics arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – A Scioto County man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting a child under the age of 13.
According to a press release, Larry D. Skaggs, 75, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, was arrested following an investigation into the sexual assault of a child. Skaggs is charged with one count of felony third-degree gross sexual imposition involving a victim under the age of 13.
"This is an active, ongoing investigation" said Sheriff Thoroughman. "We anticipate that additional charges will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury as the case proceeds." BLACKSHEAR, Ga. - A Pierce County grand jury has indicted a Blackshear man on multiple felony charges, including human trafficking and statutory rape, for allegedly abusing a 15-year-old girl and selling videos of the abuse.
Kevin Waldron faces one count of statutory rape, one count of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, five counts of sexual exploitation of children, two counts of aggravated child molestation, and one count of illegal tattooing of a minor. State prosecutors assert that Waldron molested the teenager and recorded the encounters to sell the video files to other individuals for monetary gain.

A 47-year-old Canyon County man found with more than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material on his computer has been sentenced to serve at least 40 years in prison, according to a news release from the Idaho Attorney General's Office.

A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted one of four men charged in a child sexual abuse and human trafficking case in Centre County.
Morris W. Reese, 65, of Blair County, is now facing a federal charge of conspiracy to produce child pornography. He is scheduled for arraignment in the U.S. District Court for Middle District of Pennsylvania on Monday at the federal courthouse in Williamsport.
Reese and three other men — Samuel C. Friday, Michael H. Woomer and James S. Kobuck — were arrested in November and December on charges accusing them of sexually abusing teenage girls and recording the encounters for years inside a Centre County home. All four men are currently awaiting trial in Centre County. Andrews said Reese’s local prosecution, which encompasses are greater extent of charges, will continue in parallel with the federal case.

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. - A Wetumpka man is facing multiple felony charges, according to court documents.
Brandon Barnett, 35, is charged with two counts of human trafficking.
Court filings show that Barnett was arrested Thursday after reportedly offering to pay $300 for sexual favors to one 17-year-old and another $500 to a different 17-year-old, in a separate incident on the same day.
