▫️Liberty County arrests sex offender captured in YouTuber's viral video
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office worked with a YouTuber who posed as a minor online during an investigation.
In an unusual collaboration with a YouTuber, a Liberty County Sheriff's Office investigation has led to the arrest of a 54-year-old man and registered sex offender.
The investigation launched after YouTube channel PredatorPoachers used a decoy operation —in this case, posing as a minor online — to communicate with Robert Lee Parker and then shared the interaction on social media. After speaking with the creator of the YouTube channel Thursday and further investigation, the sheriff's office on Friday arrested Parker. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
The county sheriff's office in a Facebook post said it arrested Parker after obtaining a warrant alleging that he had not complied with sex offender registration laws. After further investigation, the sheriff's office said, authorities discovered that Parker was a registered sex offender and that he allegedly initiated contact with an individual he believed to be a minor. He didn't use the same social media usernames and email addresses that he had provided to local law enforcement, the sheriff's office said.

▫️Youth hockey coach in Colorado facing multiple child sex crime charges
A Colorado youth hockey coach is facing multiple child sex crime charges in connection with an investigation in Douglas County.
Detectives began an investigation into Rory Nathaniel Mushlin after receiving a tip that he was behaving inappropriately with minors. The 40-year-old resident of Colorado Springs has served as a youth hockey coach at South Suburban Sports Complex in Highlands Ranch since January 2023. Investigators identified multiple minors they believe to be victims of his behavior and arrested Mushlin on June 4.
Investigators say Mushlin had contact with numerous people through youth sports programs, and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says it is still working to identify and offer support to any potential victims. Anyone with information on the case, or parents who believe their child may have had concerning contact with Mushlin, is encouraged to contact Detective Clay at sclay@dcsheriff.net.

▫️Epstein survivors push N.Y. to close a sex trafficking 'loophole'
Female advocates, some who are survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s human trafficking exploits, are using the dwindling days of the Albany session to shed a spotlight on what they described as a dangerous loophole in state law. Depending on the charge in New York, sex crime charges against girls aged 15 to 17 could be elevated. But under federal law, it’s automatically a felony. As the legislative session is set to end this week, amending the “loophole” bill may be on hold until next year.

▫️Katie Phang Says the Fight for Justice Has Been Emotionally Draining in An Interview With Stansbury
Speaking during a conversation about justice, accountability and the Epstein files with Rep. Melanie Stansbury, journalist and legal analyst Katie Phang reflected on the emotional impact of her work and the messages she receives from women across the country.
Phang said many women identify with the broader fight against abuse, silence and power imbalances, arguing that society is experiencing a significant moment in which more people—especially women—are choosing to speak out. She described it as a historic turning point driven by a refusal to accept systems that have long ignored or marginalized survivors.

▫️Independent report on clerical abuse leads to 4 new convictions in Portugal
A total of 114 alleged abusers were named by the Independent Commission’s report.
The Archdiocese of Braga announced last week that a canonical process involving Father Albino Meireles, accused of child abuse, had concluded with his dismissal from the clerical state. The announcement is the latest development in a process that has divided observers over whether the Church has done enough to respond to abuse allegations in the country.
The announcement came three years after members of the Independent Commission created to study sexual abuse within the Catholic Church in Portugal met with diocesan bishops and superiors of religious orders, handing them lists with the names of 114 alleged abusers identified during the period in which they wrote their report.

▫️'We want our children back': Nigeria's kidnapping nightmare spreads south
Widespread kidnappings and the ever-expanding presence of armed groups across Nigeria - Africa's most populous country - are likely to be key issues in the run-up to Nigeria’s next national elections in January.
"The Oyo abductions mark a dangerous escalation from a crisis once largely confined to Nigeria's north and Middle Belt into the southwest," said Cheta Nwanze, partner at security consultancy SBM Intelligence. "As the 2027 elections approach, Nigerians will judge politicians primarily on whether they can keep classrooms and communities safe."
The May 15 raid - and simultaneous attacks on two other nearby schools - have jolted a region long seen as relatively safe compared to more unstable regions further north, fuelling fears that kidnapping-for-ransom gangs are expanding their operations far beyond traditional hotspots.

Eight children, two pregnant women and a nursing mother were among 11 victims rescued from suspected human traffickers at an illegal motor park in Zawan Junction, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, where victims were allegedly being ferried to mining camps in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The rescue, which also led to the arrest of 14 persons, including three suspected traffickers, has exposed what officials describe as a decade-long trafficking operation that had quietly consumed the futures of scores of Plateau children and young women.

The survivors, who spoke in Lagos shortly after their rescue, said traffickers lured them with promises of decent jobs in Lagos before transporting them across borders to Mali, where they were forced into prostitution.

The 'utterly wicked' 45-year-old was jailed for 18 years in February after he admitted 56 sexual offences - including molesting children, sexually assaulting a woman and taking upskirt videos of girls in his previous job in a primary school. Now three of the affected families have begun legal action against Camden Council over its refusal to investigate whether the nursery group's health and safety systems failed to protect children.

▫️Priest gets life in prison in Texas for sexual abuse of women under his spiritual care
A Catholic priest from Nigeria has been sentenced in a Texas court to life in prison, as well as to two 20-year prison terms plus $30,000 in fines, for sexually abusing several women under his spiritual care — a felony crime in that state.
Odiong's legal counsel, Gerald Villarrial, who had asked the priest receive probation for his crimes, indicated he intends to appeal. Fr. Anthony Odiong, a priest of the Diocese of Uyo, Nigeria, who had once served in the Diocese of Austin and other dioceses in the U.S., had been charged under Texas state law with several felony counts of sexual assault. After listening to graphic testimony from several witnesses, the jury found the 57-year-old priest guilty of one charge of sexual assault in the first degree and two in the second degree.

▫️Colorado governor signs law with stricter penalties for child human trafficking
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Governor Jared Polis has signed a new law putting stricter punishment on child human trafficking in Colorado.
The new law requires mandatory prison time for the crime and raises the penalty for luring. The law changes the legal language for child trafficking, switching the language for certain charges from child prostitution to commercial sexual activity with a child. Supporters of the bill say the change focuses more on victimization in the crime rather than being a willing participant.

▫️Murder charge dropped for Arkansas sheriff nominee who killed daughter´s alleged abuser
A judge on Thursday dismissed a murder charge against an Arkansas man who won the GOP nomination for sheriff while awaiting trial for the shooting death of his teenage daughter's alleged abuser.
Spencer’s attorneys do not deny that he shot and killed Michael Fosler in 2024, saying he did so to protect his child.
At the time of the shooting, Fosler, 67, was out on bond after being charged with dozens of sexual offenses against Spencer’s then-13-year-old daughter.
The ruling came weeks before Aaron Spencer, who will be on the November ballot, had been set to face a jury on a second-degree murder charge.

▫️Epstein Survivor Reveals Shocking Details Of Government Deal With Epstein
At a House Oversight field hearing in Palm Beach, Epstein survivor Courtney Wild delivered an emotional testimony recalling how she was abused by Jeffrey Epstein from the age of 14 until 17. Speaking before lawmakers, she described years of trauma, a decade-long legal battle, and a controversial nonprosecution agreement that she says left victims without proper justice or transparency.
https://youtu.be/XkJBHe2S5yY (VIDEO)
▫️Why did the U.S. DOJ make the 2008 deal with jeffrey epstein and what was the deal exactly? just asking for the 1000+ victims
Duck.ai short answer: in 2008 federal prosecutors in the Southern District of Florida—led by then‑U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta—negotiated and approved a secret non‑prosecution agreement (NPA) with Jeffrey Epstein that resolved a federal probe by having Epstein plead guilty to state prostitution charges in Florida, serve about 13 months in county jail with work release, register as a sex offender, and receive broad immunity for potential federal co‑conspirators. Prosecutors said they chose the deal because of concerns about witness credibility, legal obstacles to a strong federal case, uncertainty about victims’ testimony, the desire to secure some punishment and civil remedies for victims, and the risk of losing at trial; critics and later courts found the process lacked transparency and violated victims’ rights.
The 2008 Florida plea deal for Jeffrey Epstein centered on a federal non-prosecution agreement that allowed Epstein to plead to two state prostitution-related charges, serve roughly 13 months with work-release, register as a sex offender, and avoid wider federal prosecution — a deal criticized for secrecy and for granting immunity to potential co‑conspirators. Government reviews and court rulings have painted a split picture: the Justice Department’s internal report faulted then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta for “poor judgment” but found no prosecutorial misconduct, while other judicial findings and victims’ challenges highlighted alleged violations of victims’ rights and contested the legality and ethicality of the agreement.
• The NPA explicitly extended non-prosecution protection beyond Epstein to "any potential co-conspirators, whether or not charged," which meant federal prosecutors were precluded from bringing federal charges related to the covered conduct against people not named in the agreement.
• That language has been interpreted as providing a broad shield that could protect associates (including powerful people) from federal prosecution for the conduct described in the agreement; critics and victims' advocates have said this prevented accountability for others implicated.
• DOJ reviews and later court findings criticized how the agreement was handled (victims not properly notified under the Crime Victims’ Rights Act) and described serious lapses, though they did not conclusively establish a deliberate conspiracy to protect specific powerful individuals.

▫️Former supermodel files rape complaint against ex-Elite boss
PARIS — Former American supermodel Carré Otis filed a complaint Friday at a Paris court alleging she was raped and trafficked by Gérald Marie, the former European head of Elite Model agency, in a move her lawyer said is meant to encourage other potential victims to come forward.
Marie has denied the allegations and cannot be prosecuted over Otis’ case because of France’s statute of limitations. But the complaint could allow other women, whether their cases are time-barred or not, to join the proceedings, Otis’ lawyer, Mathias Darmon, said in a statement
The complaint, seen by the AP, alleges rape of a minor and human trafficking. Sent to Paris in 1986 by Elite Model agency, Otis, who was then 17, was housed in Marie’s apartment, “mistakenly believing that he wanted to support her modelling career,” according to the complaint. “While living in the apartment, she alleges that she was raped on multiple occasions by the accused, who subsequently arranged for her to be provided to other wealthy men across Europe.”
“The goal is to give other victims the opportunity to find the courage to join our complaint,” Darmon said. “We are opening the door for all those affected by this internationally significant case to come forward and have their voices heard.”

SWABI: The police on Wednesday recovered a girl, who was allegedly sold for Rs50,000 to a man from Punjab, and arrested three accused.
The incident occurred in the Chota Lahor tehsil, the police said, adding that the girl’s father, Ayaz Khan, was reportedly kept in the dark about the matter by his wife.
Haris Khan, a relative of Ayaz, while filing a report in the Chota Lahor city police station, said that Ayaz had left his 12-year-old daughter with him (the complainant) when she was a child due to poverty to look after her.
