▫️This Children's Playground in Fiji is Run by a Violent Korean Cult
Fiji's biggest children's playgrounds are owned by Grace Road, a group accused of being a violent doomsday cult. OCCRP reporter Meri Radinibaravi explores how the cult embedded itself into Fijian daily life — and speaks to parents about why they still take their children to Grace Road's playgrounds.

▫️BABY BREEDERS How newborns are being sold on social media to desperate parents for £5,000 by chilling baby trafficking rings
FRESH out of the womb at seven days old, a baby was trafficked and presented to a fake couple for £5,000 on Facebook messenger.
A human trafficking racket in India mistakenly contacted an anti-trafficking charity – asking if they wanted to buy a baby.
Using this as an opportunity to act as decoy customers, the organisation, Against Child Trafficking (ACT) started to answer messages posed as a desperate couple unable to bear children.
The child trafficking ring, having moved the conversation to another channel, sent over several pictures of naked newborns and asked the “couple” to choose from their catalogue.
Babies are allegedly being put up for sale on social media through a shadowy adoption underworld dubbed the “black market”.
Some tots are reserved while still in the womb and obtained through deceptive methods by criminal syndicates targeting emotionally vulnerable and financially struggling women. An Indonesian court has now dismantled one operation, convicting 19 people over the trafficking of 34 babies through a sophisticated network spanning Indonesia and Singapore.
The criminal enterprise operated by a 70-year-old female preyed on vulnerable women across West Java between 2023 and 2025.

▫️Trinidad and Tobago: Operation Iceberg: Soldier among 3 held on PDOs as alleged human trafficking ring busted, 8 survivors
Trinidad and Tobago's Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) detained three people and rescued several suspected trafficking victims on Saturday, July 25 under a major counter-trafficking operation as the officers dismantled an alleged human trafficking network operating across Trinidad and Tobago, according to the Ministry of Homeland Security.
Three people, including a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, have been detained under Preventive Detention Orders (PDOs) as the Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) dismantled an alleged human trafficking network during a multi-agency operation spanning Trinidad and Tobago.
According to the ministry, the first phase of the operation took place in Trinidad on Wednesday, when officers arrested 41-year-old Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force member Titus Du Bois at Long Circular Road, St James. He was detained under a Preventive Detention Order pending investigations into his alleged involvement in a human trafficking network, offences relating to trafficking in children and the sexual exploitation of a minor over an approximate six-month period.
On Friday, officers arrested 26-year-old Venezuelan national Francis Carolina Rengel Ojeda in Scarborough. Yesterday, officers intercepted and arrested 38-year-old Damon Domonic Charles in Signal Hill. He was also detained under a Preventive Detention Order while investigations continue into alleged offences relating to trafficking in children and the sexual penetration of a minor.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 17-year-old Venezuelan girl was allegedly lured to Trinidad with what appeared to be a legitimate job offer before being sexually exploited.
Anyone with information on suspected human trafficking can contact the CTU on its toll-free hotline at 800-4288 or WhatsApp at 702-0467.

▫️Glasgow faces 'increased risk' of human trafficking during events like Commonwealth Games
'People are being bought and sold on Glasgow’s streets’ warns human trafficking expert
With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games now officially underway, many of us will be getting caught up in the spirit and exciting cross-cultural atmosphere. But a new campaign is aiming to highlight the increased risk of human trafficking during large-scale sporting events.
Human trafficking is a serious problem in cities across Scotland, including Glasgow. And crowded events where hundreds of people are coming and going from the city can increase the risk of human trafficking activity on our streets, prevention campaign organisers have said.
National Crime Agency data shows that Glasgow has the most recovered survivors of human trafficking in Scotland. The campaign is designed to educate, equip and empower people to recognise signs of exploitation and understand how to respond safely and access trusted reporting pathways.

▫️Long-awaited report into clerical child sex abuse published
It includes accounts of sexual, physical, spiritual, and/or emotional abuse between 1922 and 2024, from 37 victims/survivors abused in both Catholic Church-run settings as well some associated with Protestant churches.
In some cases, recorded religious rituals were used to abuse children, including “exorcising demons” by “laying on of hands” on intimate parts of a girl’s body, and a priest using the sacrament of confession to coerce a boy to stimulate his sexual pleasure by pressing his head close to the priest’s groin.
A woman who said she was violently physically abused while being "delivered from demons" is among dozens of survivors whose experience has been detailed in a long-awaited report into child abuse in Catholic and Protestant faith settings.
The woman said at one time she was beaten so badly she believed her ribs were broken. The report, called Investigation into Experiences of Victims and Survivors of Historical Clerical Child Abuse, was written by Prof Tim Chapman.
Another woman described the spiritual abuse she endured at the hands of a priest as "soul murder". Other individuals detailed serious sexual abuse, including the rape of a six-year-old boy. Survivors have called for a public inquiry into clerical abuse in faith settings.

▫️Sex offender back behind bars after 'appalling' behaviour
He has repeatedly ignored court orders
A convicted sex offender who had previously been branded "dangerous" has been jailed after ignoring court orders and committing "appalling" new offences. Thomas Edeson had been locked up in 2021 because of his worrying sexual interest in young girls but, at a later court hearing, he was given a suspended prison sentence.
His luck ran out, however, when he later breached a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and fell foul of the police again, Hull Crown Court heard. Edeson, 27, of Franklin Street, Hull, admitted four offences of breaching the sexual harm prevention order and others of failing to comply with his notification details as a sex offender and possessing a prohibited image of a child.

▫️"That shame is yours to carry now": Woman sexually abused by cousin as child speaks out as abuser jailed
A brave survivor of childhood sexual abuse has spoken publicly for the first time after seeing her abuser convicted, describing how years of fear, guilt and silence left her carrying the trauma for decades.
Now, after waiving her anonymity to allow her abuser to be named, Aoife Battersby (26) says speaking out has finally lifted the burden she carried for years and hopes her story will encourage other victims to seek help.
Her cousin Darren Battersby (34) of Moorepark, Garristown, Co Dublin was jailed for three years after he was convicted of sexually abusing his younger cousin Aoife Battersby following a trial at the Central Criminal Courts.

▫️Allegations of Abuse Against Former "DSDS" Contestant Dominik Münch
Serious allegations have been made against Dominik Münch (41): The former "DSDS" contestant is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in Hamburg on July 5, 2026. According to *Bild*, the alleged incident took place in the afternoon on Baumeisterstraße in the St. Georg district, near Hamburg Central Station. Dominik is alleged to have approached the child there and sexually abused her. The 41-year-old is currently in pretrial detention.

▫️Migrant pimps preyed on underage girls near the Nuremberg train station
In Nuremberg, police are investigating a serious case of abuse involving migrant traffickers near the central station. At least sixteen suspects are under investigation. All of them are migrants from countries including Syria, Pakistan, North Africa, and Serbia. They are alleged to have made underage girls dependent on them by giving them gifts and hard drugs, in order to then sexually exploit them. Ten men are currently in pretrial detention, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine.
According to German researchers, the crux of the matter is clear and simple: sex for crystal meth. Underage girls were given drugs by adult dealers. They were then forced to perform sexual acts in order to get their next dose.

▫️Germany records rise in sexual violence against children
Leonie Kirschstein knew that the number of sexual violence cases involving children and adolescents would not decline. The psychologist works for the registered nonprofit Zartbitter e.V., which has served as a support center for young victims in city of Cologne in western Germany for nearly four decades. This pioneering organization counsels victims, conducts educational outreach in schools and even stages plays on the topic of sexual violence.
Kirschstein, who has worked for Zartbitter for three years, told DW that the number of unreported cases was much higher: "Crime statistics only include cases that have been reported to the police. But not the ones we deal with every day, such as cases involving peer violence. In many cases, these aren't reported at all, especially when the children are still very young. This group makes up the largest portion of the cases we handle in our counseling process."

▫️More and more children are being sexually abused
Berlin – The number of reported cases of child sexual abuse rose again in 2025. The BKA’s figures are alarming: In 2025, 17,126 cases of child sexual abuse were recorded nationwide—a 4.7 percent increase compared to the previous year. The police recorded 18,736 victims, 3.6 percent more than in 2024. The vast majority of victims were between the ages of 6 and 13. Seventy-four percent of the victims were girls, and 26 percent were boys. One reason the number of victims is higher than the number of cases is that multiple children may be affected in a single case.

▫️Indonesia seeks help on suspected child prostitution by Japanese
JAKARTA--Indonesian police have asked Japanese authorities to help verify the authenticity of Japanese-language social media posts suggesting engagement in child prostitution in the country, sources said.
Police sent a letter to the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia in June as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspected involvement of Japanese nationals, the local police sources said.
The Japanese Embassy declined to comment on the details of the letter. The embassy noted that child prostitution committed by a Japanese national in Indonesia constitutes a crime under Japanese law based on extraterritorial jurisdiction provisions.
At the end of May, local police raided a red-light district on the outskirts of Jakarta and other locations mentioned in the posts.
They arrested 12 people, including establishment operators, and took eight girls into protective custody, according to police sources.
