📍About Cyclosporiasis
✅ A foodborne intestinal illness caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis, a microscopic single-celled parasite (protozoan).
✅ Spreads through the faecal-oral route by consuming contaminated food or water.
✅ Direct person-to-person transmission is unlikely because the parasite must mature in the environment before becoming infectious.

✅ Commonly associated with contaminated fresh produce such as leafy greens, basil, cilantro, raspberries, and snow peas.
📍Key Symptoms
✅ Prolonged watery diarrhoea is the primary symptom.
✅ Other symptoms include stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
✅ Severe cases may cause dehydration and nutrient malabsorption.
📍Diagnosis & Treatment
✅ Diagnosed through specialised stool microscopy or PCR tests.
✅ First-line treatment: Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX).
✅ Rehydration and electrolyte replacement are important during prolonged diarrhoea.
