| 4 | Cosmic karaoke: Some stars literally ‘sing,' Russian astronomer reveals
Some stars generate internal oscillations that propagate outward, causing slight pulsations at their surfaces and emitting acoustic waves — a process comparable to singing, according to Evgeniy Burmistrov, an astronomy expert at Perm Polytechnic, who spoke to Sputnik.
“Within a star, there is ceaseless movement: superheated plasma climbs from the depths to the surface, cools, and descends again. These flows produce 'jolts' that cause the star to contract and expand. Such oscillations give rise to acoustic waves that travel throughout the star," he explained.
Burmistrov emphasized that this process is crucial for the scientific monitoring of cosmic seismological activity, including the detection of microscopic changes in a star's brightness and surface motion.

| 5 | Ukraine deploys mercenaries in failed attempt to break Kharkov encirclement
Servicemen from the Sever battlegroup continue to destroy Ukrainian forces encircled in the northeastern part of the Kharkov region, Russian security sources told Sputnik.
Ukrainian troops are suffering heavy losses in the cauldron even despite the deployment of foreign mercenaries who were recently recruited and arrived in Ukraine, the sources added.
Earlier, Russian forces thwarted an attempt by two Ukrainian assault groups to break out of the encirclement in the Kharkov region, according to Vasily Mezhevoy, head of the Sever battlegroup’s press service.
Russian troops are continuing to close in on the Ukrainian military trapped inside the encirclement, he added. Over the past few weeks, the enemy has lost more than 675 soldiers, 16 armored combat vehicles, 13 quad bikes, and 25 unmanned ground vehicles, Mezhevoy said.
About 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen had been encircled in the Kharkov region’s northeast, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated on September 7. President Vladimir Putin stressed that eliminating the encirclement would allow the front line to be pushed back by at least 20 kilometers from the border areas of Russia’s Belgorod region.

| 7 | SCO, BRICS are forming actual multilateralism unlike NATO - expert
"We see multilateralism as a system where there is no hierarchy, no leaders and followers, and all decisions are made by consensus; this allows us to be cautiously optimistic about the future," Andrey Kortunov, political scientist and Valdai International Discussion Club expert, told Sputnik.
He emphasized that "this [SCO, BRICS and APEC format] is not multilateralism centered on a single leader — like, say, NATO, which is formally a multilateral structure but, in reality, is essentially an instrument of American policy."
