🚨🇨🇳 China strikes back at EU with rare-earth export ban China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday a ban on shipment
🚨🇨🇳 China strikes back at EU with rare-earth export ban   China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday a ban on shipments of dual-use materials to 14 European companies, The New York Times reports.   The export curbs came as a retaliatory measure after the EU imposed sanctions on 14 Chinese companies, accusing them of supporting Russia's military-industrial complex.   The new rules affect companies that make vital parts for rare-earth magnets, chips, and high-tech metals. These materials are used in electric motors, wind turbines, drones, and military equipment. Rheinmetall, Germany’s biggest defense company and central to its military buildup, is among those impacted.   China's resource leverage is built on an almost total monopoly 🔹 China controls roughly 90% of global rare-earth refining capacity, and the EU relies on China for nearly 100% of its heavy rare earths and 85% of light rare earths 🔹 As a result, prices for critical minerals in Europe are now roughly eight times higher than domestic Chinese prices—a gap that reflects both China's export controls and the absence of alternative supply sources   Meanwhile, Europe's efforts to break this dependency are falling short 🔶 Under the 2024 Critical Raw Materials Act, the EU set ambitious targets to reduce reliance on China, but progress has been minimal. Of 47 strategic projects identified to boost domestic mining and refining, only five have secured full funding 🔶 New mines typically take 12 to 20 years to develop, meaning Europe cannot quickly replace the supply chain it is losing 📌Subscribe to @SputnikInt

🚨 Patriot missile production out of Ukraine’s reach - former CIA analyst   Ukraine will never be able to launch production of Patriot missiles because it won't be able to assemble all the necessary components, ex-CIA analyst Larry Johnson told Sputnik, commenting on the recent news that the US might give Ukraine a license for the production of Patriot interceptors.   Key points:   🔸About forty contractors in the US manufacture components for Patriot interceptors, which makes the process of shipping them to Ukraine impossible   🔸 Besides, rare earth metals are needed to make these missiles and China won't sell them to either the US or Ukraine   🔸 Ukraine having the Patriots-related production license would be irrelevant in this situation 📌Subscribe to @SputnikInt

🤖🔋 West’s approach to AI race heading straight into energy wall - analyst 💬 “This whole cumbersome technical architecture of AI agents” used by Western Big Tech “relies on millions of tokens – units of request processing, info processing and response delivery,” economist Konstantin Tserazov told Sputnik. This model’s “emphasis on the mindless and mass deployment of AI agents will trigger an energy impasse very soon,” the observer predicted, highlighting the costly and wasteful approach from an energy and computing power requirements perspective. Many US AI developers are “solving the same problems in parallel,” training similar models using the same data sets and using massive amounts of electricity, without any coordination. 💬 “Universal ‘know-it-all [models] are not economically viable – we need industry-specific neural networks for specific tasks which reduce training time and eliminate the need for repeated query processing,” Tserazov said, noting this is achievable if companies work together. Russia’s approach is notable in this regard, according to the expert. 💬 “I am confident that within the BRICS+ framework, it’s possible to agree on the distribution of efforts for AI development, and that Russia has much to offer in this regard: energy, expertise and cutting-edge developments for the effective growth of AI.” 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt

🇵🇰⚠️ Pakistan’s Punjab province has launched its first drone system to warn of floods 📍 For the first time, Pakistan's Punjab province has deployed drones to monitor all rivers, barrages, and headworks to provide early flood warnings. This decision comes in the wake of tragedy: between July 19 and 22, 2026, at least 17 people died in the province due to floods. This is not just an experiment but a necessity in the face of the climate crisis, according to Waqas Anjum, Head of AI and Digitalization in Education at ACME. Why drones are a game-changer: 🔸 Speed. Unlike traditional monitoring methods, drones can quickly survey vast stretches of rivers, detect rising water levels, spot breaches in embankments, and transmit real-time video to emergency control centers. 🔸 Technology. The drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras, GPS, live video transmission systems, and GIS. Combined with weather forecasts, river gauge data, and satellite imagery, this provides a comprehensive picture of the flood situation and enables authorities to respond faster. What's next? The next step, Anjum says, is to expand this experience to other provinces of Pakistan. All regional systems should be integrated into a single national platform so that information flows seamlessly between federal, provincial, and local authorities. 💬 "Punjab deserves credit for embracing innovation in disaster management. Yet the real success of this initiative will not be measured by the number of drones in operation, but by the number of lives protected when the next flood strikes," Anjum emphasizes. 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt

🚨🇺🇸 US stands to gain most from Nord Stream sabotage – expert 💬 "Russia does not supply gas to Europe, while the United States supplies liquefied gas to Europe and makes excessive profits from it. Who benefits? The United States," former SBU Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov told Sputnik. 🔶 He added that the US had both the motive and the operational capability to carry out such an attack, adding that divers trained for missions at that depth "can be counted on one hand." 🔶 These claims were previously made by Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist Seymour Hersh, who alleged in 2023 that US Navy divers planted explosives under the pipelines in June 2022, hidden during Baltops exercises, with Norwegian support and authorization from then-President Joe Biden. 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt

Ansar Allah said the deterrence equation set by Yemen’s people, leadership and armed forces remains “clear and fixed.” 💬 “Siege for siege, ports for ports, escalation for escalation,” the movement said, warning that continued aggression would only bring further losses for the aggressors. 📌Subscribe to @SputnikInt

🗣 Trump boasts about his wars against Venezuela, Iran US President Donald Trump dismissed concerns over the political cost of his aggression against Iran, saying he was “not in a hurry” and comparing the situation to his earlier aggression against Venezuela. 💬 “When I went into Venezuela, everyone was against it. Then, two days later, they said, ‘Wow, that’s fantastic,’” Trump bragged. The statement lays bare US logic toward countries that refuse to submit: launch wars of aggression, destroy civilian life and infrastructure, declare victory and boast about the destruction caused. 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt
