Karyann Parkinson was eight months pregnant in June when her son Sam asked to walk about a half-mile back to the pond in Ford's Colony, their gated Williamsburg community with 24-hour security and a 25 mph speed limit.

A passerby called security. A guard walked Sam home and told the boy bad people would want to take him if he was out alone, which Parkinson says "scared the crap out of him."

Three cop cars, three officers, and two CPS workers showed up at the door. CPS issued a Level 2 finding for lack of supervision and put Parkinson on Virginia's neglect registry for seven years.

Judge Brian J. Smalls then convicted her of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 1 misdemeanor. He imposed six months in jail and suspended it pending good behavior.

The conviction stays on her record. She assumes it will block her from volunteering at her kids' schools and from getting a law license after William and Mary.

Virginia passed a 2023 childhood independence law saying a parent is not neglectful for letting a child walk to nearby places if it is not grossly negligent. CPS still told her husband "a 5-year-old child can never be unsupervised."

Sam was not hurt. The state now treats a sidewalk walk for feathers as a crime... while letting ACTUAL CRIMINALS roam free.

| 7 | A PAKISTANI COURT GAVE A CHRISTIAN MOTHER'S THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD TO THE ACCUSED
Her name is Amber Nadeem. She is thirteen years old.
She disappeared from her family in Faisalabad, Punjab Province, Pakistan on June 12, 2026.
Christian advocates say she was taken by a Muslim man named Mohsin Liaqat, forcibly converted, and married.
Her mother, Nadia Nadeem, did what any mother would do. She went to the courts.
And on July 25, a district and sessions judge in Faisalabad ruled.
He did not send Amber home.
He granted custody of the thirteen-year-old to the very man accused of taking her, while the questions about her real age were still sitting unresolved in the file.
On August 29, Nadia Nadeem walked into the Faisalabad Press Club and stood in front of cameras with Christian rights advocates on either side of her, asking her own government to protect her daughter.
That is what is left when the courts close the door. A mother at a microphone.
Advocate Akmal Bhatti of Minorities Alliance Pakistan pointed out that Punjab passed a Child Marriage Restraint Act this year, and argued that a child's supposed consent cannot decide custody when there are credible allegations of abduction, grooming and coercion.
Amber is still not home.
If a thirteen-year-old cannot legally sign a contract, how can she legally be handed to the man accused of taking her?

The exchange started Monday night, when Iran attacked civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and k!lled two Filipino crew members aboard the supertanker Sidr, a ship loaded with two million barrels of Saudi crude. CENTCOM answered Tuesday around noon Eastern with strikes on IRGC air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capability, and communications infrastructure — retaliation, the command said, for the Strait attack and for prior IRGC strikes on American service members in the region.
Tehran's revenge, at least on paper, sounded apocalyptic: missiles and drones on Erbil, on Jordan's Prince Hassan Air Base, on the Marine barracks at Camp Tintin, and on airbases in the UAE and Bahrain. The rest of Tehran's story falls apart the same way. Iran admits its own losses were light — four IRGC troops, three Basij militia members, a handful of civilians — while claiming its counterattack wiped out American pilots and Marines. Nine months into a war it started, this is what Iran has left — a regime firing whatever's in the inventory at four different countries, k!lling almost nobody, then broadcasting a body count to its own people that isn't real. | 15 | Even before Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sets out new US moves to pressure Iran’s economy, things are looking increasing grim for Tehran; President Donald Trump is clearly winning and mainly needs to hold firm as the enemy tries to wriggle out.
Crucially, oil is now flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, meaning Tehran’s gambit of closing it has failed.
And the neighbors that Iran has been attacking have had enough: Its largest trading partner, the United Arab Emirates, last week cut off all transactions including financial ones.
Dubai for decades has been key to Tehran’s evasion of sanctions as well as over a third of its imports.
Iranian inflation was already running over 90% amid mass unemployment and other crises, leaving the regime increasingly unable to pay its regular army.
Now even the Revolutionary Guard should soon feel the pinch — endangering the regime’s ultimate linchpin.
Iran’s leaders are now doing another round of bad-cop/good-cop, with one set frothing at the mouth with threats while others insist they want peace and offer to renew negotiations — an “offer” that, if Washington bites, will quickly turn into demands for preemptive US concessions before they’ll even pretend to talk meaningfully.
The game is meant to support the narrative that Trump’s domestic critics keep pushing: the idea that Iran’s leadership was eager to negotiate a lasting peace, but then the US-Israel strikes killed those supposed moderates, allowing the “hard-liners to seize control” — and our only way to defeat those bad guys is to strike a deal with the remaining “moderates” so they can elbow aside the worst people.

Researchers identified 189 influencers with documented ties to the administration.
Group members told investigators the chat group has over 200 people in it, ranging from accounts with 5,000–10,000 followers to those with millions.
A City Hall spokesperson said the mayor’s office “has never paid a content creator for a collaboration or for content production.”
However, they forgot to say 'Directly' because workers interviewed said its individual agencies that hire influencers through marketing and advertising contractors for specific campaigns including on voting, health care, tenants’ rights, and immigration services.
Staffers said the going rate is $5,000–$20,000 per campaign.
