Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) wasn’t mincing words when he described the Republican Senate lunch after the Iran war powers vote last week. His phrase of choice: “𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘶𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢”.

The context: the Senate voted 50-48 to pass an Iran war powers resolution, with four Republicans—Cassidy, Collins, Rand Paul, and Murkowski—joining Democrats to rebuke Trump’s authority over the Iran campaign. It was the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬. The next day, Trump walked into the closed-door Senate GOP lunch and made his displeasure known.
Kennedy described the resolution as exactly what it was: an effort to direct the president to “𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘳𝘢𝘯” while he was in the middle of active negotiations. The meeting blew up when Trump confronted Sen. Bill Cassidy directly over the vote.
But Kennedy also delivered the bottom line: the effort failed. A second war powers vote was 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 as Republicans who had wavered corrected course. Kennedy was unambiguous about where things stand: “𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘳𝘢𝘯. 𝘞𝘦’𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 60 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴.”
The SAVE Act was also a major theme of the lunch. Kennedy confirmed Trump made clear it is a top priority, and that the Senate needs to move.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights opened the investigation into the New York City Department of Education, the nation’s largest school district.

They are examining whether the alleged Islamic indoctrination is creating a hostile environment for Jewish students in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
The focus centers on a group of public school teachers calling themselves NYC Educators for Palestine.
The says they are fighting for “Palestinian liberation in our school system” through curriculum development, teacher training, and events that frame Zionism negatively and promote the Palestinian resistance.
Federal complaints expose how the group trains teachers to bash Israel and Zionism, using the specific language of “genocidal White supremacists” for Zionists and calling Hamas terrorists “martyrs.”
One documented event was a “Teach-In for Palestine” the group scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January.
It targeted students as young as 6.
The group has run a series of similar seminars for K-12 teachers and students.
More examples:
In Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, third-grade teachers used materials from “Woke Kindergarten” to rewrite the children’s song “Wheels on the Bus” into an anti-Israel version called “The Wheels on the Tank,” presented as celebrating Palestinian resistance. The school's students are around 8 years old.
A Brooklyn elementary had a classroom map that erased Israel entirely from the Middle East, prompting accusations of Jewish erasure.

Some schools and PTAs, including at Ella Baker School on the Upper East Side, promoted “Teach Palestine” webinars and drew on resources from the Zinn Education Project.
Those materials include lessons describing Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide” and turning the territory into a “graveyard for children.”
The New York City Department of Education claims the NYC Educators for Palestine is not sanctioned by the department.
However, the federal investigation is also looking into whether district leaders failed to prevent the spread of the t*rrorist praising content through classrooms, school events, and teacher networks.
Hamas, a U.S.-designated t*rrorist organization that has a founding charter that calls for the destruction of Israel and the k*lling of Jews.
Hamas’s Israel attack on October 7, 2023 k*lled about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, including toddlers and took more than 250 hostages.
Israel’s response in Gaza is aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities and protecting it's citizens.

The Supreme Court handed President Trump two major immigration victories today in back-to-back 6-3 rulings. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majorities. But it was Justice Clarence Thomas who delivered the constitutional philosophy that cuts the legs out from under every future legal challenge.
In his concurrence, Thomas stated plainly: “𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘕𝘖 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.” With that, the legal framework Democrats have used for years to tie immigration enforcement in court — claiming that any differentiation between citizens and non-citizens triggers equal protection review — was put on notice.
Thomas went further, writing that the Fifth Amendment’s due process clause does not guarantee equal protection in the immigration context, and that the president’s authority to terminate Temporary Protected Status is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬. That last point is enormous. Every lower-court judge who issued injunctions against Trump’s immigration moves was operating under the assumption that they could second-guess executive TPS decisions. The Supreme Court just said: no.
Thomas was one of six conservatives who sided with Trump, but his concurrence goes furthest in dismantling the theoretical foundation the left uses to block enforcement. Alito gave Trump the win. Thomas wrote the opinion that makes the next ten wins easier.
