Meet Mr. Terence Joseph Mallon, Instructor in the Faculty of Social Sciences, whose multidisciplinary background spans English Language Teaching, Law, and Architectural Design, bringing a unique combination of advocacy, research, and creativity into the classroom.
πΉ Holds a Masterβs Degree in TESOL from Queenβs University Belfast, alongside degrees and qualifications in Architecture and Law, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, Cambridge CELTA, and TEFL Certificate.
πΉ Brings 19 years of teaching experience across 11 countries, including Cambodia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and China, and has taught and held academic leadership roles across 6 universities.
πΉ A former Barrister-at-Law and Public Prosecutor in the U.K., Mr. Mallon also worked as an Architectural Designer, including at the renowned Behnisch and Partner Architects in Germany.

Maryβs passion for hospitality began through event planning and grew through her experiences at AUPP, including her internship at Courtyard by Marriott Phnom Penh and leadership of the AUPP Sports Events Management Club.
During her time as Club Leader at AUPP, she co-organized two charity football tournaments that raised over USD1,000 for ISF Cambodia and the cyclo community.
She later earned an MSc in Management from the University of Birmingham with the Rest of the World Scholarship and has continued building her career in the hospitality industry.

Meet Rothrithyvong Thay, a senior Computer Science student at AUPP and a full-scholarship recipient, whose university journey has taken him far beyond the classroom.
During his time at AUPP, Rothrithyvong has represented Cambodia through international programs, including the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in the United States, as well as opportunities across Asia and ASEAN.
Beyond academics, he has actively contributed to youth development, volunteering, community projects, and student initiatives, taking on increasing responsibilities in project coordination, team management, and leadership.
For Rothrithyvong, university is not only about earning a degree. It is about exploring new possibilities, learning from others, taking responsibility, and discovering who you want to become. π¦

AUPP is proud to celebrate HUT Meilang, Senior Year, BSc in Business, and DY Piseth, AUPP Alumni, BSc in Software Development, for representing Cambodia at the 5th ROK-Mekong Youth Group Workshop in South Korea.
Held in Busan and Seoul, the annual youth diplomacy program brought together 36 young delegates from South Korea and the five Mekong countries under the theme βROK-Mekong Youth United through Culture,β focusing on culture and tourism.
Throughout the program, Meilang and Piseth participated in expert lectures, cultural visits, networking activities, and cross-national team projects exploring opportunities for ROK-Mekong cooperation in culture and tourism.

| 17 |  +4π°ππ AUPP-RehabAI Shines at ASEAN AI Hackathon 2026 & Wins Best Pitching Award Among 240+ Teams
The American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) proudly celebrates AUPP-RehabAI for being selected as one of the Top 16 teams at the ASEAN AI Hackathon Grand Finale 2026, held in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Organized by Passage to ASEAN (P2A) and co-organized by Duy Tan University, the competition brought together more than 240 teams from 110 institutions across 9 countries in the preliminary rounds, with only 16 teams advancing to the Grand Finale. AUPP-RehabAI was the only Cambodian team to reach the final round.
The team presented an innovative solution using artificial intelligence and computer vision to support stroke rehabilitation and was awarded the Best Pitching Award for their outstanding presentation. π
The achievement was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of Hang Panha, Chan Panha, Eung Laimeng, Say Kimlong, and Morm Lyda.

AUPP officially welcomed the 2026β2027 academic year with the AUPP Academic Year Kickoff, bringing together our university community for a meaningful start to the new semester.
The program featured an opening address by H.E. Dr. Chea Vandeth, Founder of AUPP, and welcome remarks by Dr. Matthew Schenk, Interim President of AUPP, followed by interactive breakout sessions that encouraged collaboration, reflection, and shared ideas across the AUPP community.
The kickoff week also provided opportunities for faculty and staff to connect beyond the workplace, including a Riverside Evening & Private Riverboat Tour along the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers.
