📌 US Senator Lindsey Graham signaled a striking shift in tone toward Syria's leadership after meeting President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Ankara on Wednesday, part of a bipartisan congressional delegation on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
📌 Graham, long one of the most vocal skeptics of Syria's new government, said it is in America's national security interest to engage with al-Sharaa and give him a chance to build a lasting, functioning government.
📌 He described al-Sharaa as the "best chance" for a unified Syria over time, warning that a fractured country would only benefit US adversaries.
📌 While acknowledging Israel's concerns, Graham credited al-Sharaa with dramatically reducing Iran's influence in the country, calling it a major step forward for the Syrian people.
📌 He closed by urging recognition of that progress, saying "the status quo is unacceptable for all."
| 2 | Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani:
We have turned a dark chapter in Syria's history by lifting the State Sponsor of Terrorism designation that was imposed on our country in 1979 because of the policies of the former regime.
We extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to the US, under the leadership of President Trump, for this decision, as well as to my friend, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, our dear Ambassador Tom Barrack, and everyone who stood by Syria. | 87 |
| 3 | Syrian Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra said the Defense Ministry has begun building a floating military bridge and completing another bridge in Deir Ezzor to ease movement for residents.

Procedures have begun to remove Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. President Trump notified Congress today of his administration’s intention to remove Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
This is another historic step taken by President Trump to give the Syrian people an opportunity to achieve greatness. Lifting sanctions will open the door to international trade and investment, giving Syria a chance at reconstruction. | 219 |

US President Donald Trump during a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad at Ankara NATO Summit:
📌 Washington, D.C. now is considered one of the safest cities in the country. If he came to Washington, D.C. a year and a half ago, he'd fear for his life, even though he never feared for his life before, because it was very dangerous.
📌 But somehow his territory might have even been a little more dangerous. I joke because, you know, he comes from a rough environment. Would you say that's right, Tom Barracks? It's sort of funny to think.
📌 I don't think he'd be too concerned with Washington a year and a half. But we had a very, very unsafe Washington, D.C., and now it's one of the safest cities in the country. | 222 |
| 9 | US President Donald Trump during a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad at Ankara NATO Summit:
Syria has turned around as fast as I've ever seen. Well, actually I turned the United States around very fast too. They inherited from a man who was not smart, not a smart person.
We inherited from the man where they were running this country so badly with the open borders. I think there were 25 million people allowed into our country. And that includes 11,888 murderers, most of whom murdered more than one person. | 213 |

| 11 | US President Donald Trump on the EU during a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa at Ankara NATO Summit:
We're very close to those countries (EU countries). The problem is they took advantage of the United States for years. It's like him (al-Sharaa). They took advantage of Syria. He's bringing it back. And I'm bringing the United States back. | 225 |
| 12 | US President Donald Trump on the European Union during a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa at Ankara NATO Summit:
You know, they've treated us very badly for years and they took advantage of us. Look, we're very close to those countries, right? And to everybody in the EU. The problem is they took advantage of the United States for years. It's like him.
They took advantage of Syria. He's bringing it back. And I'm bringing the United States back. Look, we have the greatest economy we've ever had. We have the biggest investment. 19.2 trillion is being invested right now in the United States. | 3 |

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the Ankara NATO Summit:
📌 We have made a great achievement in the toppling of the former regime. As President Trump said, in a year and a half we made an achievement in bringing the country together, unifying the country and put it back on track.
📌 This is due to our strong people, the strong Syrian people that President Trump talked about, then the historic decision that President Trump has taken by lifting the sanctions of Syria.
📌 As well as the help of friendly countries and the loving countries in the region, Turkey, the Gulf states and other countries in our neighborhood. The entire Syrian people thanks President Trump. | 236 |
| 14 | United States President Donald Trump, when asked whether he still wants Syria to help address Hezbollah's presence in Lebanon:
"They could help. We'll find out. I think we're making a lot of progress. They could help. They would do a very good job." | 250 |
| 15 | United States President Donald Trump, when asked whether the United States would lift Syria's State Sponsor of Terrorism designation:
"I think I will, yeah. I think I will. Why wouldn't I? He's done a great job. Maybe he would have brought that up in a little while. That's a good question. Any problems with that? I think we should. Yeah, I will." | 247 |
