Israeli-Greek maritime cooperation has advanced to a new phase. The Israel Defense Forces announced that Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Alfetrios Kataras, Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Navy, has concluded his official visit to Israel. This trip focused on expanding operational and strategic cooperation between the navies of the two nations. During this visit, he met with Vice Admiral Eyal Harel, Commander of the Israeli Navy, and toured the Haifa naval base, missile boats, submarines, and the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit in Atlit. According to the Israel Defense Forces, the senior Greek naval officer familiarized himself during the visit with the operational capabilities of the Israeli Navy, lessons learned from war, the current strategic and intelligence situation, and the development plans of this force. The commanders of the two forces also conducted an aerial visit over northern Israel to examine the security challenges of the region, and subsequently visited communities near the Gaza Strip. During professional talks between the parties, evolving threats in distant and nearby maritime arenas, freedom of navigation, regional stability, and maritime security were discussed. Both sides, noting the increasing challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, emphasized the necessity of creating new mechanisms and strengthening joint cooperation to maintain regional security and stability. This visit is viewed as an indication of closer security cooperation between Israel and Greece, reflecting the two countries' efforts to enhance operational coordination in the maritime domain. @KurdishfrontReports
