The Pentagon has told U.S. Central Command to finish preparations for the potential resumption of large-scale combat operations against Iran, according to Axios, citing U.S. officials. The Congressional Research Service (CRS) says 81 U.S. aircraft have been reported lost or damaged in the Iran war since February 28th, in a report updated October 5th. CRS built the list from news reports, Pentagon and U.S Central Command (CENTCOM) statements, and the Pentagon inspector general, and says it may change. Some damaged aircraft have since been returned to service. A Kirkuk court fined Kurdish man Hoshmend Hamid 500,000 IQD (~$382) for hanging a poster of martyred commander Ziyad Heleb in Kirkuk’s Kurdistan neighborhood. Iraqi Security forces removed the poster, after which Hamid was arrested and referred to court. @KurdishFrontReports

Syrian Information Ministry responded to reports of Syria's possible intervention in Yemen:

"Syria's position is clear: we stand firmly with Saudi Arabia against threats to its security and stability. At the same time, Syria's policy in the region is focused on stability, peace and cooperation, not opening new fronts. Our priority is Syria: rebuilding the country, strengthening its institutions, working with our partners on reconstruction and improving the lives of Syrians. Any military cooperation with partner countries would take place only through official channels and existing bilateral frameworks".

Saudi Arabia and Syria are discussing deploying Syrian troops to Yemen to support the Saudi-backed offensive against the Houthis, Axios reports. Ahmed al-Sharaa is considering the request, with U.S. officials saying approval is highly likely. The deployment could involve 10,000–20,000 troops, including forces from the 90th and 84th Divisions. Israel is expanding its military presence in southern Syria, strengthening positions on Mount Hermon and building new military facilities. The World Health Organization is looking into reports of a second pneumonia plague case linked to an anti-plague institute in Irkutsk. Pneumonic plague is a form of plague that infects the lungs, caused by Yersinia pestis. Unlike regular pneumonia, which has many possible causes, pneumonic plague is specifically caused by plague bacteria and can spread between people rapidly. @KurdishFrontReports

The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs denied reports that it has received any air-defense system. The ministry said no official source had announced the arrival of such a system, calling the reports false. Following the withdrawal of US and Coalition forces, a gap has emerged in Iraq’s air defenses. The IRGC has said that southernly maritime routes transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz will be blocked by the IRGC soon. Following the outbreak of Pneumonia Plague in Irtusk, Russia, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow has issued a Health Alert for the area, saying that the embassy in Russia is aware of reports, including those of deaths of individuals, quarantine measures, and closures of hospitals in the area.
