š DAANVEER: Strengthening Digital Infrastructure in Gram Panchayats
š Why in News?
š¢ The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched DAANVEER, a people-led Computer Crowdsourcing Initiative to strengthen digital infrastructure in Gram Panchayats.
š¢ It enables individuals and organisations to donate desktop computers directly to verified Gram Panchayats through the Meri Panchayat App.
š What is DAANVEER?
š¢ A technology-enabled, transparent and citizen-centric initiative for voluntary contribution to grassroots digital infrastructure.
š¢ It complements government-supported infrastructure under programmes such as Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
š¢ Citizens can support their own or any eligible Gram Panchayat requiring computers.
š How Does It Work?
š¢ Open the Meri Panchayat App.
š¢ Select a State-verified Gram Panchayat requiring a computer.
š¢ Click āDonate Computerā.
š¢ Donor is automatically redirected to DigiHaat, an ONDC-enabled digital marketplace, without separate registration.
š¢ Select from standardised computer bundles meeting prescribed technical specifications and make digital payment.
š¢ Delivery details are auto-populated and the entire process can be tracked from purchase to delivery and acknowledgement.
š¢ After acknowledgement by the Gram Panchayat Secretary, the donor receives a digital Certificate of Appreciation.
š Significance
š¢ Strengthens Panchayatsā capacity for digital governance, planning, financial management, record-keeping and citizen service delivery.
š¢ Promotes participatory governance by allowing citizens, CSR organisations, philanthropists and the Indian diaspora to contribute directly to grassroots institutions.
š¢ The model enhances transparency and accountability through end-to-end digital tracking.
š¢ As of 27 August 2026, 75 donations had already been made.
