✅ The Government has proposed amendments to the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 to revise foodgrain entitlements for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries.

✅ Shift from household-based to per-person entitlement.
✅ 7 kg foodgrains per beneficiary per month.
✅ Maximum cap of 35 kg per household, even for families with more than five members.
✅ Based on ICMR nutritional guidelines (~7.5 kg cereals per adult/month).
✅ Aims to reduce inequities between small and large households.
📍 About NFSA, 2013
✅ A rights-based legislation providing legal entitlement to subsidised foodgrains.

• Ensure food and nutritional security.
• Shift food security from a welfare scheme to a legal right.
