📍 Why in Focus?
The 7th Governing Body Meeting of the National CAMPA, chaired by Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav at CASFOS, Coimbatore, reviewed the authority’s performance and approved key initiatives for afforestation, wildlife conservation, and digital forest governance.
📍 Key Highlights:
✅ Approved four new wildlife conservation projects for River Dolphin, Snow Leopard (Phase-II), Indian Rhinoceros, and Wild Water Buffalo, along with continued support for Manipur’s Sangai conservation.
✅ Launched Digital Annual Plan of Operations (Digital APO), Geospatial Monitoring & Evaluation System (GIS Lab), and Harit-SANKALP Portal to strengthen technology-driven planning, monitoring, and transparency in CAMPA works.
✅ Extended the MISHTI scheme till 2029, increasing its total outlay to ₹600 crore, while 652 Nagar Vans/Vatikas have been developed under the Nagar Van Yojana.
✅ Approved the Aastha Van Sanrakshan Yojana with a ₹3,000 crore corpus (2026–31) to conserve and restore 15,000 sacred groves (Aastha Vans) across India.

✅ Launched in 2014–15 under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
✅ Aims to improve farm productivity through affordable access to modern agricultural machinery.
✅ Focuses on small & marginal farmers, women, SC/STs, FPOs, SHGs and rural entrepreneurs.
📍 Key Features
✅ Supports Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs), Farm Machinery Banks (FMBs) and Hi-Tech Hubs.

✅ The Natural History Museum (NHM), Mizoram University, Aizawl has been notified as India’s 21st Designated Repository under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
📍 Key Highlights
✅ Designated Repositories preserve authenticated biological specimens accessed under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
✅ NHM is located in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot and will preserve flora, fauna and type specimens of newly discovered species.
✅ It strengthens species identification, scientific documentation, traceability and long-term biodiversity conservation.
✅ The repository supports conservation of endemic Northeast species, including Leptobrachella tamdil, a recently described amphibian from Mizoram.
✅ The designation advances India’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (2024–2030) and aligns with Target 4 of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
