The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has highlighted 12 years of pension reforms through the Bhavishya Portal, which has transformed pension processing through end-to-end digitalisation, timely issuance of PPOs, e-sign integration and real-time tracking.
📍 Key Highlights:
✅ Integrated Digital Pension Platform: Bhavishya is a centralized online system for pension sanction and payment, ensuring seamless end-to-end processing of pension cases.
✅ Mandatory Adoption: The portal has been mandatory for all Central Civil Ministries and Departments since 1 January 2017.
✅ Wide Coverage: It has onboarded 99 Ministries/Departments, covering 1,041 offices and 9,765 Drawing & Disbursing Officers (DDOs).
✅ Massive Service Delivery: As of 19 June 2026, over 3.28 lakh Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) have been issued through the platform.
✅ Faster Pension Settlement: The average time for PPO issuance has been reduced to 64 days, significantly improving service delivery.
✅ Timely Pension Delivery: About 73% of superannuation PPOs are issued on time, while 69% of family pension PPOs in in-service death cases are issued within six months.

| 19 | 🔆 New Wholesale Price Index (WPI) Series & Producer Price Indices (Base Year: 2022–23)
📍 Why in News?
✅ DPIIT has launched a new WPI series (Base Year 2022–23) replacing the 2011–12 series, along with Output Producer Price Index (OPPI), Trial Input Producer Price Index (IPPI) and Service Producer Price Indices (PPI).
📍 Major Reforms in the New WPI
✅ New Base Year: Updated from 2011–12 to 2022–23 for better representation of the current economy.
✅ Expanded Basket: Number of commodities increased from 697 to 957, reflecting structural changes in production.
✅ Renewable Energy Included: Solar, Wind and Nuclear electricity added under the Electricity group.
✅ Energy Basket Rationalised: Crude petroleum and natural gas shifted from Primary Articles to Fuel & Power for a coherent energy price framework.
✅ Improved Weighting Method: Uses Gross Value of Output (GVO) instead of Net Traded Value, better reflecting domestic production.
✅ Better Methodology: Introduces short-term formulation and Targeted Mean Imputation for missing prices, replacing the older carry-forward approach.
📍 Producer Price Indices (PPI)
✅ Output PPI (OPPI): Measures prices received by producers for goods sold.
✅ Input PPI (IPPI): Tracks prices paid by producers for production inputs (released initially on a trial basis).

✅ WPI Inflation (YoY): 9.68% (up from 8.26% in April 2026).
✅ Fuel & Power Inflation: 30.33%, the highest among major groups.
✅ Food Index Inflation: 4.49%, compared to 3.11% in April.
✅ Major drivers: Mineral oils, crude petroleum & natural gas, chemicals, and basic metals.

✅ Department of Youth Affairs, through MY Bharat, will organise Vande Mataram Camps across the country.
✅ First camp to be held in Kolkata (24–30 June 2026) on the birth anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
📍 Objectives
✅ Promote national integration, constitutional values and youth leadership.
✅ Deepen understanding of India’s constitutional and democratic traditions.
✅ Foster civic responsibility, cultural confidence and nation-building.
📍 Key Features
✅ 7-day residential camps.
✅ Aligned with Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
✅ 20 camps to be organised nationwide.
✅ Each camp will host 150 youth (15–29 years).
✅ Participation from 6 States per camp.
✅ Mandatory representation from the North-East.
✅ At least 50% participation from women and socially disadvantaged groups.
