| 18 | A lot of folks are out there saying things like "Trump can fire who he wants," claiming the judge in the case is leftist or "crooked," saying Maurene Comey "botched" cases, and similar reactionary, ignorant nonsense.
Here's some truth based in facts:
Some people serve at the leisure of the president, but for others they are employees of the federal government, and there's a legal process for how you fire someone from one of those jobs.
Trump didn't fire Maurene Comey. Bondi fired her, and DOJ argued in the case that Blanche essentially ratified that firing later on.
Maurene Comey wasn't fired for cause, and that's a big problem.
According to the CVRA, Article II, statutory law, and SCOTUS, her firing was unlawful. The judge didn't go rogue or crooked or anything like that. He went by the LAW, and he explains ALL OF THIS on pages 16 thru 45 of his order and opinion.
As for the claims that Maurene Comey "botched cases."
That is not what anyone within DOJ who reviewed her work, who promoted her, or who worked with her ever said about her. They said the opposite, and her record affirms their review. Just a glance at her most recent high-profile cases shows that she DOES NOT "botch" cases.
Her case against Epstein was so good he killed himself rather than face trial.
She successfully prosecuted Maxwell and, something few people even appreciate, worked extremely hard to keep the low-credibility victims away from that case and convinced the high-credibility ones to testify against Maxwell. Maurene saved that case during the trial when one of the most important witnesses began falling apart on the stand. Maxwell has decades left to serve on her sentence.
She successfully prosecuted Sen. Menendez (a powerful senator who had already survived a previous prosecution), his wife Nadine, and his co-conspirators. They are all in prison right now.
She successfully prosecuted Diddy, though she didn't get a conviction on all of the charges. The jury simply didn't buy that those girls didn't know what they were getting into when they hooked up with Diddy. Maybe Maurene overcharged or shouldn't have made it a RICO case. Oh well, Diddy is still in prison.
So, maybe the people telling you "Trump can fire who he wants," who are claiming the judge in the case is "crooked," who are saying Maurene Comey "botched" cases, and similar reactionary, ignorant nonsense...

Court rules in favor of her claims that her firing in July 2025 was unlawful and grants her reinstatement with back pay through December 20, 2025.
Court also grants her requests for DOJ to acknowledge violations of law and her rights.
I know it’s an extremely unpopular take in my corner of politics, but damn the politics of it—this lady never deserved the hate she got.
On the contrary, she deserved a lot of credit and heaps of praise for her successful prosecution of Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as for other successful prosecutions.
