Where do I even begin?
This book exists because of this channel.
I didn't know I was keeping an unintentional diary in the pieces I shared here. A consistent Friday writer on my better days, and an intermittent sharer as the years passed.
More than 140 poems. Almost a decade of my life.
From my late teenage years to my late twenties. From a freshman in college to a practicing medical doctor.
From who I was then to who I am now.
So much unlearning.
So much becoming.
What do I have to say?
So many things. But perhaps most of all, thank you.
Thank you to the many kind souls who have been here, encouraging me, inspiring my thoughts, and, in ways you may not even realize, becoming part of the story behind these pages.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for staying.
Here is the very best of me. 🤍
How long have you been here?
And what is your favourite poem?
Perhaps I will share a picture of its page, if it made it into the book. 😊

It is easier to like and love exquisite things:art, clothes, objects, even people. It takes only a glance to be captivated by something mesmerizing. Perhaps that is simply the nature of humans: we seek what is most beautiful to the eye, what gives us delight at first sight. It is easier to love something beautiful because it asks so little of us. It requires no adjustment, no patience. It comes without a disturbing flaw, without a feature that makes us hesitate. It is simply easy.
But perhaps it takes a little bravery to look for beauty in something full of flaws. You have to look past the things that disturb you, past the imperfections that demand your attention, and search for something worth loving beneath them. You have to stay long enough to see beyond what first repels you...to slowly piece together the parts that seemed incompatible and discover that they can, somehow, become beautiful together.
Perhaps that is what makes certain things worth loving: not that they are flawless, but that despite their flaws, you eventually find yourself saying, you know what? I will love it anyway. Despite its ugliness. Despite the disturbing features. Despite everything that once made it difficult to love.
Because sometimes beauty isn't something you see at first sight. Sometimes it is something you learn to see.

The Girl I Miss
I miss the girl I used to know,
The one with faith that used to glow.
She dreamed, she prayed, she dared to grow,
And loved with a heart the world could know.
Somewhere between love, life, and fear,
I lost her voice I used to hear.
But maybe she isn't gone away
She's waiting for me to choose her today.
Not who I was, but who I'll be
A woman of faith, strong and free.

I will never stop recommending the Shatter Me series. It is written very beautifully, and it is not only about romance; the author literally foretells what is happening to this world now.

Like, why can't I just be a girl with a lethal touch and insane power, with a funny and handsome best friend, and with a husband who has a soft spot for fashion and is the chief commander of Sector 45? Like, why?

"They told me all of my cages are mental
So I got wasted like all my potential"

"Push away all the people who know me best
But its me who is been making the bed
Im so tired of being the girl that i am
Every good thing has turned into thing i dread"

I can’t believe eight months of healing can feel like it was undone by just two months at home.

It’s difficult to watch the purest connections you’ve built slowly crumble while you’re merely trying to hold yourself together.

The concept of eternity just fascinates me, it's beyond one's mind to understand and comprehend it. It's not a tomorrow thing it's something that is just going for no limited time. Something beyond time very far from tomorrow as there won't be yesterday either.

In my head I make a mess of it
I'm getting tired of feeling delicate
I used to try but nothing is helping it

Some people are just like the afternoon. They bring the same relief as the afternoon sun and the fresh breeze.

I hate how they degrade women into an object a man can own and I hate how lust is glorified as love. And don't get me started on haunting adelien I couldn't even finish cause wdym he rapped her and still glorified as a great bf...its like some of these books are trying to normalise sexual assault and misogyny.
