| 2 | The western warmongers’ objective now is to put its war in Ukraine onto a semi-permanent footing, hoping to achieve in the end what has not been achieved on the battlefield: the wearing down of Russia’s social, economic and military fabric and the ultimate collapse and dismemberment of the sovereign Russian state.
To that end, the Ukrainian public is being prepared to accept the mobilisation of masses of women into the armed forces, along with the lowering of the age of male conscription to 18.

| 5 |  Tonight marked the 220th consecutive night of gatherings by the Iranian people in squares across the country—an unprecedented mass mobilization that began after the U.S. military attack on Iran in Feb. 28.
I, Hamid Shahrabi, had the honor of delivering a short speech at tonight’s people’s gathering in Vahidieh, a neighborhood in Shahriar, west of Tehran.
The main purpose of my message was to inform the crowd about the activities of the PASS movement. PASS, which stands for People Against Sanctions and Siege, is an initiative endorsed by more than 50 people’s organizations across five continents. It aims to organize actions from Oct. 1 to 10 to demand an end to sanctions and the siege against Iran, Yemen, Gaza, and Cuba.
Although I delivered the speech in Farsi, I took the opportunity to say a few words in English to thank the organizations that joined the PASS initiative.

Our government also uses these repressive laws and methods to suppress opposition to Britain’s criminal involvement in the wars against Iran and Russia, while politicians and media pundits talk about the need for conscription to build the armed forces and threaten to jail antiwar campaigners.
The British state’s support for all this aggression – from the suffocating sieges on Venezuela and Cuba to the genocide and displacement in the middle east, to the aggressive wars against Russia and Iran – is not accidental or coincidental. The brutal repression and exploitation imposed on peoples abroad is part of the same war being waged against workers in Britain as jobs vanish, the cost of living skyrockets and political freedoms are crushed.
The British Chapter of the Anti-Fascist International recognises that we have more in common with the working class of Palestine, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Russia and China than we do with our own ruling class, and that our struggles are linked.
We aim to build an antiwar movement that is not run by the very same people who are perpetrating these wars and political repression, and to let workers know that they have the power to make a real difference. It is workers who make and move all the supplies for war, workers who fight and workers who put out the propaganda lies. We don’t need to beg politicians for change; we need to organise to use our power to force that change.

| 11 | Konstantin Simonov lived a very Soviet life. Born to a noble mother and tsarist officer father, his mother remarried a Red Army officer and Simonov himself trained as a lathe operator.
When he showed talent in writing he was given training at the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute and then at the Moscow Institute of History, Philosophy and Literature before being appointed as a war correspondent.
Alongside a long and celebrated career he was for many years also secretary of the Union of Writers of the USSR. Besides his journalism he edited literary journals and wrote plays, poetry and novels.
Among the many awards he received were the Order of the Red Banner, the Lenin prize and six Stalin prizes.

Given the nature of the forces currently at war in Sudan, anti-imperialists must give their support to the Sudanese government and army.
There are indications that the military would like to return the country to civilian rule, but the most important thing is that there should be an undivided country to which civilian rule can be returned.
The imperialist proxies are not asking for a ceasefire in the cause of peace but in the hopes of balkanising the country and separating its wealth from central government control.
Meanwhile, whatever the nature of any future government of Sudan, the question of debt servitude to imperialism remains to be solved – and this will require the resolute unity of the anti-imperialist forces.

Lenin gave his famous advice to British communists more than a century ago, when no communist party yet existed and when the Labour party had not yet formed a government.
The essence of his approach was: help Labour into power for the first time, and help the masses learn as quickly as possible, from their own experience, that Labour is NOT their party after all, and that bourgeois democracy will NOT solve their problems.
What are we to think of those who continue to cite Lenin as a justification not for EXPOSING Labour but for SUPPORTING it, a century later, as a ‘least-worst’ option, while continuing to promote the fallacy that capitalist electoral politics can bring about meaningful changes in the lives of the exploited workers?
