Ethiopian Delegation Participates in 6th International Olympiad on Financial Security

An Ethiopian delegation led by AASTU Team members (Dr. Melaku Berhe, Dr. Yodit G/Alif, and Dr. Geremew Teklu ) participated in the 6th International Olympiad on Financial Security, held in Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation, from September 26 to October 2, 2026.
The Olympiad brought together students selected from universities and high schools from 46 countries, competing in Information Security and International Relations streams.
Representing Ethiopia, Tihitina Mekonnen, a student at Addis Ababa University, earned a Second-Level Degree Award in International Relations, marking a notable achievement for the Ethiopian delegation.
The participation provided Ethiopian students with an international platform to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and expertise while engaging with peers from around the world in the fields of financial security, information security, and international relations.

The seminar explored practical advances in plant biotechnology, including tissue-culture systems for genetic engineering and genome editing, disease-resistant crops, sustainable biomass production using duckweed, and the application of CRISPR/Cas9 through hairy-root cultures.

AASTU Certifies 42 Cisco Trainees

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) officially welcomed more than 1,900 new undergraduate students for the 2019 E.C. academic year through orientation programs.
The new students participated in general orientation sessions covering their academic programs, campus services, regulations, and responsibilities.
Speaking at the orientation, Dr. Kemal Ibrahim, Vice President for Academic Affairs, congratulated the students on joining higher education and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities available at AASTU to achieve academic success.
The orientation also featured messages from university leaders and invited guests, encouraging students to embrace hard work, effective time management, perseverance, skills development, and meaningful contributions to society.

The review involved experts from Addis Ababa University and industry, with invited representatives from the Ministry of Mines, Tulu Moye Geothermal Operations, and Corbetti Geothermal.
