The special 60-day regime that was granted to citizens of about 93 countries since July 2024 is being cancelled. The new rules will start from September 15, 2026. Until this date, 60 days are still given at the border.
What's changing:
β’ Most countries, including Russia, USA, EU, UK, Australia - visa-free stay of 30 days.
β’ Seychelles and Mauritius - 15 days.
β’ Visa on Arrival is being limited; countries like Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia remain on the list.
β’ Those already in the country on a 60-day stamp can complete their stay. There is no retroactive effect.
β’ DTV, LTR, Privilege, work, pension - remain unchanged.
Why: in May, the government decided to close the gap for visa-runners, nominal tourists, and those living in the country for months. The usual package vacation (~9 days) is almost unaffected.

The concept is quite wild from the historical Bitcoin perspective, but absolutely necessary in our current circumstances. You can publish a single permanent Bitcoin address that starts with sp1q... and distribute it to everyone or simply publish it online for donations.
Unlike a classic Bitcoin address, this address cannot simply be copied into an explorer and reveal everything you have received. Technically, when someone sends you BTC, they are not paying directly to your sp1q... address.
Their wallet uses the cryptographic data of your Silent Payment and the transaction to create a unique Taproot output. So, if 10 people send you Bitcoin, the blockchain will see 10 different outputs, with no obvious public link between them.
Your wallet can recognize those belonging to you, thanks to the scanning key. And this is a great idea: a permanent Bitcoin identity you can openly display without turning your financial history into public information.
Of course, this doesn't make Bitcoin completely anonymous, and you can still create visible connections by spending your UTXO incorrectly. But for the purpose of receiving payments, the concept is incredibly elegant.

Bulgaria introduced a separate type of residency for digital nomads. The scheme is designed for citizens from countries outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland: live in the country and work remotely without a Bulgarian employer and local clients.
The norm was incorporated in amendments to the foreigners' law. The goal is to attract specialists in IT, innovation, and creative industries. The breakdown was published by BGNES on August 21, referencing an analysis by Alex Ledson in Forbes.

- owners and partners of certain foreign companies;
- freelancers and independent specialists if the activity is conducted outside Bulgaria.
It is not allowed to provide services to Bulgarian individuals or organizations with this status.
Applicants must demonstrate an average income for the previous calendar year of not less than 50 times the Bulgarian minimum wage. In 2026, this is around β¬31,000.
Additionally, proof of remote work, accommodation in Bulgaria, health insurance, and a police clearance certificate are required.
The process involves two steps:
1. first, apply for a national D visa in a consulate abroad;
2. after entry, submit an application for a digital nomad residency permit within 14 days.
The permit is issued for 1 year, with the possibility of extension for another year. The two-step process is more complex than some European programs where everything is processed in one application.

According to Eurostat data for 2025, consumer prices in Bulgaria are 63% of the EU average, the lowest in the Union (behind Romania and Poland).
From January 1, 2025, the country is fully in the Schengen Area, and land border controls with neighboring countries are lifted. From January 1, 2026, Bulgaria is in the eurozone.
The internet is stable. Remote workers are already in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Bansko: mountains, sea, cheaper than Lisbon and Barcelona.
