Hazrat Maulana Ismail Shaheed was mischievous and quick-tempered in his childhood.
He said:
Maulana Ismail Shaheed was very mischievous and quick-natured in his childhood. Shah Abdul Aziz, though he always wished that he would come and attend the sermons, but he would run away.
One day, while playing with other boys, he came to the place where the sermon was held. Shah Sahab was in the toilet at that time, and Maulana Ismail had no idea. He said to the boys, "Let me deliver a sermon," and climbed up the highest branch of a tree. Then he copied Shah Sahib’s sermon exactly as it was, and even added his own elegant insights to it.
When Shah Sahab came out and saw what was happening, all the boys jumped down and ran away. Shah Sahab remarked, "Now, you don’t need to attend the sermons anymore."

हज़रत मौलाना इस्माईल शहीद बचपन में शोख़ मिज़ाज और तेज़ तबीयत थे।
फ़रमाया कि मौलाना इस्माईल शहीद बचपन में बहुत शोख़ और तेज़ तबीयत थे। शाह अब्दुल अज़ीज़ हर चंद चाहते थे कि यह वाज़ (बयान) में आया करें मगर यह भागते थे।
एक रोज़ लड़कों के साथ खेलते हुए आए, शाह साहब उस वक़्त बैतुलख़ला (टायलेट) में थे, उनको ख़बर न थी। उन्होंने लड़कों से कहा कि मैं वाज़ कहता हूँ, सुनो और दरख़्त की सबसे ऊँची टहनी पर चढ़ गए और शाह साहब के वाज़ की बिऐनिहि (बिल्कुल) नक़ल कर दी बल्कि और अपनी तरफ़ से नफ़ीस इफ़ादात ज़्यादा कर दिए। शाह साहब जब अंदर से निकले तो सब कूद कूद कर भाग गए। शाह साहब ने फ़रमाया कि अब तुमको वाज़ में आने की ज़रूरत नहीं है।

हज़रत हकीमुल उम्मत पर एक दफा ज़माना तालिब इल्मी में खौफ का बे हद ग़लबा तारी हुआ।
फरमाया कि एक मर्तबा मुझ पर तालिब इल्मी (पढ़ाई के ज़माने में) के ज़माने में ख़ौफ का बे हद ग़लबा हुआ। मैं हज़रत मौलाना मोहम्मद याक़ूब साहब की खिदमत में हाज़िर हुआ और अर्ज़ किया कि हज़रत कोई ऐसी बात बतला दीजिए जिस से इत्मीनान हो जाए।
फरमाया: हाय! कुफ्र की दरख़्वास्त करते हो क्योंकि बिल्कुल मामून (मुत्मइन) हो जाना कुफ्र है।

Our elders did not like customary seclusion.
He said that our elders did not favour customary seclusion, as it leads to fame. Maulana Mahmood Hasan Sahab Deobandi and Maulana Khalil Ahmad Sahab Saharanpuri never adopted solitude either, although Maulana Raipuri, compared to other elders, was somewhat inclined towards it (and this influence came from his first spiritual guide). However, as per necessity, seclusion was a regular practice for all these elders. For instance, Maulana Gangohi would also sit in seclusion for a short while after closing his room.
Once, I wrote to Maulana Gangohi that my heart desires to separate from everyone and sit in a corner. Maulana wrote back, saying that our elders did not do such a thing, as it leads to fame.

हमारे अकाबिर हजरात खल्वत-ए-उर्फिया पसंद नहीं करते थे।
फरमाया कि हमारे हज़रात खल्वत-ए-उर्फिया पसंद नहीं करते थे, इससे शोहरत होती है। मौलाना महमूद हसन साहब देवबंदी और मौलाना ख़लील अहमद साहब सहारनपुरी ने भी कभी गौशा-नशीनी (तन्हाई) इख्तियार नहीं की, हालांकि मौलाना रायपुरी पर ब-निस्बत दूसरे हज़रात के कुछ हद तक इसका ग़लबा था (और यह असर उनके पहले पीर का था)। बाकी ब-क़दर जरूरत ख़ल्वत (तन्हाई), यह सब हज़रात का मामूल था। चुनांचे, मौलाना गंगोही भी थोड़ी सी देर हुजरा बंद करके उसमें बैठते थे।
एक दफा मैंने मौलाना गंगोही को लिखा कि मेरा जी यूं चाहता है कि सब से अलग होकर एक गौशे (कोने) में बैठ जाऊं। मौलाना ने तहरीर फरमाया कि हमारे बुजुर्गों ने ऐसा नहीं किया, इससे शोहरत होती है।

He said: A saintly figure of spiritual insight began reciting Fatiha at the shrine of Hazrat Hafiz Muhammad Zamin Sahib. After reciting the Fatiha, he said, "Brother, who is this great saint? He is quite a jester! When I started reciting the Fatiha, he told me, 'Go recite the Fatiha for the dead. Have you come here to recite Fatiha for the living? What's this about!'" Then the people informed him that he was a martyr.

फरमाया कि एक साहब-ए-कश्फ़ हज़रत हाफ़िज़ मुहम्मद ज़ामिन साहब के मज़ार पर फातिहा पढ़ने लगे। फातिहा पढ़ने के बाद कहने लगे कि भाई, यह कौन बुज़ुर्ग हैं? बड़े दिल्लगी बाज़ हैं। जब मैं फातिहा पढ़ने लगा तो मुझसे फरमाने लगे कि जाओ, फातिहा किसी मुर्दा पर पढ़ो। यहाँ ज़िंदों पर फातिहा पढ़ने आए हो! यह क्या बात है! तब लोगों ने बताया कि यह शहीद हैं।

The Spiritual Insight (Kashf) of Hazrat Shah Abdul Qadir Sahib
He said' that))Maulvi Fazl Haq Sahib used to study Hadith with Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him). Shah Sahib was a man of great spiritual insight (Kashf), and within his family, his Kashf was the most exceptional.
Whenever Maulvi Fazl Haq Sahab would send books with a servant—even though he would take them himself before the servant could arrive—Shah Sahab would come to know of it through his Kashf. On such days, he would not teach Maulvi Sahib the lesson.
But when Maulvi Sahib brought the books himself, Hazrat
would again come to know through Kashf, and on that day, he would teach him the lesson.

हज़रत शाह अब्दुल क़ादिर साहब का कश्फ़ (चमत्कार)
फ़रमाया कि मौलवी फ़ज़ल हक़ साहब, शाह अब्दुल क़ादिर रहमतुल्लाहि अलैहि से हदीस पढ़ते थे। शाह साहब बड़े साहिब-ए-कश्फ़ थे और इस ख़ानदान में आपका कश्फ़ सबसे बढ़ा हुआ था। जिस रोज़ मौलवी फ़ज़ल हक़ साहब किसी मुलाज़िम पर किताबें रखवाकर ले जाते — गो कि पहुँचने से पहले ख़ुद ले लेते — शाह साहब को कश्फ़ से मालूम हो जाता था। उसी रोज़ मौलवी साहब को सबक़ नहीं पढ़ाते थे। और जब ख़ुद ले जाते, हज़रत को कश्फ़ हो जाता और उस रोज़ सबक़ पढ़ाते थे।
