SPHMMC Welcomes International Leader in Geriatric Oncology and Supportive Care St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) was honored to host Professor Dale, MD, PhD, FASCO, an internationally renowned geriatrician, palliative medicine physician, and leading expert in geriatric oncology. Professor Dale, who serves as Professor and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine and Director of the Center for Cancer and Aging, visited the Oncology and Palliative Care services at SPHMMC. During his visit, he engaged with faculty members, residents, and clinical teams, and delivered an inspiring academic lecture highlighting advances in geriatric oncology, supportive care, and the integration of palliative care throughout the cancer continuum. With more than 250 scientific publications, Professor Dale has made pioneering contributions at the intersection of oncology, geriatrics, behavioral economics, and quality of life for older adults with cancer. In recognition of his outstanding leadership and impact, he became the first non-oncologist to receive the prestigious B.J. Kennedy Geriatric Oncology Award from ASCO in the 2024. As part of the visit, Professor Dale expressed his commitment to collaborate with the College in the upcoming Pain Medicine Fellowship and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, marking an important step toward expanding specialized training and improving comprehensive, patient-centered care in Ethiopia.
