Please pray for my grandfather - my last remaining grandparent - who is currently in hospital and in pain. He has been on the decline for a few weeks now. Please pray that God grants him ease, forgiveness, protection, and mercy. The early Sunni hadith scholar Ḥammād b. Isḥāq (d. 267) quotes the famous Mālik b. Anas (d. 179) as saying:
“I found some of the people of knowledge saying: We wished that when they expanded the masjid of Medina and enclosed the grave of the Messenger of Allah with a wall that they would have left the original nine rooms of the Messenger of Allah as they were, so that the people could see that they were made out of palm-leaves and coarse-cloth and take instruction from that and say: ‘This is the most honoured of creatures unto Allah, he is content from the world with this (humble abode)!’”
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ قَالَ: ثنا أَبِي قَالَ: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمَعْذِلِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ بَعْضَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ: وَدِدْنَا أَنَّهُمْ حَيْثُ كَانُوا بَنَوْا مَسْجِدَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَأَحَاطُوا الْحَائِطَ عَلَى قَبْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانُوا تَرَكُوا أَبْيَاتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ التِّسْعَ حَتَّى يَرَاهَا النَّاسُ قَدِ اتُّخِذَتْ بِالْجَرِيدِ وَالْمُسُوحِ فَيَعْتَبِرُونَ بِذَلِكَ، وَيَقُولُونَ هَذَا أَكْرَمُ الْخَلْقِ عَلَى اللَّهِ رَضِيَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا بِهَذَا!

The IDF is also warning that a static position in Lebanon can lead to a Hezbollah offensive. That means Israel is considering going on the offensive in Lebanon again, to keep Hezbollah at bay and to take more territory (“security buffer”).

I personally don’t see a major hezbollah offensive on Israeli territory in the imminent future. There is always the possibility of the IDF being targeted on Lebanese soil. But this will probably be used an excuse for further Israeli pushes, and those pushes can then always risk backlash.
As for Iran: I think over the past 2 years, Iran understands the guardrails in the region better. Attacks on Israel = attacks on Iranian leadership, IRGC, nuclear sites, and missile sites. Any US administration comes under enormous pressure from the Israel lobby, Zionist media, and Zionist policymakers in Washington.
However, the same can’t be said about attacks on Arab countries. Iran is attacking US and Gulf infrastructure all over the region, and it doesn’t cause the same alarm bells and responses. So Iran is comfortable with that position, because it doesnt risk their country, while also slowly expanding their reach in the region.
That expansion can’t go on forever without Israel preemptively trying to disturb it. They’d prefer other people do it (Saudi, UAE, the Aden government, Kurdish nationalists, the Us, Syria, Egypt) but they’ll do a rapid dominance or overwhelming force move if they need to. | 346 |
