The Repentance of Dawud. When Dawud made his mistake, he fell down in Sujood to Allah for forty days. His tears watered the ground until plants grew from them and covered his head. He then cried out: Ya Rabb! The forehead has become sore, and the tears have dried, but Dawud has not yet been forgiven! So it was called out (by Allaah): Are you hungry so you‘ll be fed or sick so you‘ll be cured, or oppressed so you‘ll be assisted? At this, he cried out a loud cry that withered all the plants that had grown and at this time he was forgiven. Beware Of Hypocritical Humility!!  كما قال بعضهم : استعيذوا بالله من خشوع النفاق. قالوا : وما خشوع النفاق؟ قال : أن ترى الجسد خاشعًا والقلب ليس بخاشع. ونظر عمر رضي الله عنه إِلَى شاب قد نكس رأسه فَقَالَ له : يا هذا ، ارفع رأسك ، فإن الخشوع لا يزيد عَلَى ما في القلب . فمن أظهر للناس خشوعًا فوق ما في قلبه ، فإنما هو نفاق عَلَى نفاق.  The Salaf would seek refuge from hypocritical humility, just like (it has been reported that) some of them would say: “Seek Allāh’s Refuge from hypocritical submissiveness.” it was said: “And what is hypocritical submissiveness?”, they said: “That you see the BODY in SUBMISSIVENESS while the HEART has NO HUMILITY.”  ● [Narrated by Ibn Abee ash-Shaybah in his ‘al-Muṣannaf 7/243 no. 3571’, and Imām Aḥmad in ‘az-Zuhd pg. 135’ and Ibn al-Mubārak in ad-Durr al-Manthūr]  And ‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه saw a young man with his head lowered so ‘Umar said to him: “O this one raise your head for indeed humility is not more than what is IN THE HEART, so whoever displays submissiveness which is NOT in his heart then this is only HYPOCRISY ON TOP OF HYPOCRISY.”  ● [Narrated by al-Qurṭubī in his Tafseer 1/375] Share the channel so others may benefit: https://t.me/BeneficialKnowledge
