| 4 | This reactionary, patriarchal conception of women’s bodies as instruments of communal revenge forms part of the ideological history of Hindutva. The repeated shielding and political support extended to accused or convicted perpetrators of sexual violence further exposes the gap between the BJP-RSS’s rhetoric on women’s safety and its actual political practice.
The LPU administration and state machinery must answer: What happened to the survivor? Was her complaint suppressed? Why was the allegation initially denied? Who attacked the girls’ hostel? Who were the outsiders who entered the campus, and what role did they play in the violence? These questions cannot be buried under police deployment, internet shutdowns, or the suspension of classes.
WE DEMAND:
1) Justice for the survivor and complete protection of her dignity, privacy, and safety.
2) An independent and transparent investigation into the alleged rape, including the role of hostel authorities and the reported suppression of the complaint.
3) A full investigation into the survivor’s subsequent condition and whereabouts, resolving all conflicting accounts.
4) Accountability of all university officials responsible for negligence, suppression, or victim-blaming.
5) Immediate identification and prosecution of the alleged rapist.
6) Identification and prosecution of all BJP-RSS-affiliated outsiders responsible for assault, intimidation, arson, or attacks on the girls’ hostel, if established by investigation.
7) An independent investigation into the entry of outsiders and the alleged attempt to provoke and manufacture violence within the student protest.
8) An end to police repression of protesting students. Democratic student participation in campus safety policies instead of greater surveillance, curfews, and policing of women.
9) Accountability of the LPU administration, including Ashok Kumar Mittal, for its handling of the students’ grievances.
10) Proper rescheduling of postponed examinations and restoration of academic facilities.
As Comrade Anuradha Ghandy wrote, “By propagating women's nature as non-violent, they are discouraging women from becoming fighters in the struggle for their own liberation and that of society.” The students of LPU have refused to remain silent. We salute their struggle against sexual violence and institutional negligence despite repression. Revolutionary Students' Front (RSF) stands in solidarity with the protesting students and calls upon students, youth, and all democratic, progressive, anti-fascist organisations and individuals not simply to wait for justice from the state, but to build a united, militant mass resistance against this brutal incident and organise protest meetings, rallies, street-corner meetings, and anti-rape self-defence groups on educational campuses. | 20 |
| 5 | Statement from the Revolutionary Students' Front RSF in Solidarity with the Protesting Students of LPU
Students of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, have been protesting since 25th September following the alleged rape of a female student inside the girls’ hostel on 24th September by a person working there. According to student accounts, when the survivor approached the hostel warden, she was allegedly pressured to suppress the matter and was promised a 10 CGPA if she remained silent and returned to her room. She subsequently broke down and attempted suicide. There are conflicting accounts about what happened to her afterwards, including whether she died, survived the attempt, or was subsequently made to disappear. The university authorities initially denied that any rape had occurred. Following the protests, police registered a rape case against an unidentified person and constituted an SIT. Students have also reported that the girls’ hostel warden made the reprehensible remark that rape can happen if girls leave their doors open.
Instead of addressing the alleged sexual assault and institutional negligence, the administration responded with police repression. On 26th September, outsider goons allegedly affiliated with the Brahminical Hindutva Fascist BJP-RSS entered the campus and reportedly ran vehicles over protesting students, seriously injuring some. Students further alleged that, on the night of 27th September, these outsiders attacked the girls’ hostel, set fires around it, broke doors, and attempted to enter the rooms, posing a grave threat to the women students. These allegations must be independently investigated, and those responsible must be prosecuted.
The administration, headed by LPU founder-chancellor and BJP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal, cannot evade accountability. The university, backed by the state machinery, deployed heavy police forces against the protesting students. Despite this, students resisted, blocked NH-44, and continued their protest. LPU subsequently suspended classes for ten days from 28th September and postponed the mid-semester examinations indefinitely, while mobile internet around the campus was suspended until the night of 28th September.
This incident must be understood within the wider reality of organised violence against women in India. NCRB recorded 4,48,211 crimes against women in 2023, including 29,670 registered rape cases. These figures represent only reported cases and therefore cannot capture the full extent of sexual violence against women. An ADR analysis of 4,693 election affidavits found that 151 sitting MPs and MLAs had declared cases related to crimes against women, including 54 from the BJP. 16 had declared rape-related cases, including 5 from the BJP. These are only reported cases. These figures expose the gap between claims of “protecting women”, “beti bachao beti padao” and the criminalisation and impunity surrounding violence against women.
Rape cannot be reduced to individual “lust” or biological instinct. It is rooted in patriarchal socio-economic relations that objectify women, control their sexuality, and reduce them to instruments of labour and reproduction. Victim-blaming, moral policing, hostel curfews, and surveillance shift responsibility onto women instead of confronting the structures that produce violence against them. A genuinely safe campus requires democratic institutions, independent mechanisms for reporting sexual violence, protection for survivors, and accountability of authorities.
Sexual violence has also repeatedly functioned as an instrument of caste, communal, and political domination, from violence against Kashmiri women to caste-based sexual violence against Dalit women and the targeting of women from oppressed communities. Hindutva ideologue Savarkar’s ‘Six Glorious Epochs of Indian History’ contains discussions of sexual violence against “enemy” women as a form of communal retaliation. | 21 |

| 10 | গণতন্ত্র টিকে থাকা প্রত্যেকটি প্রতিষ্ঠানেই ঘটবে। কারণ এর উদ্দেশ্যই দেশজুড়ে ফুঁসতে থাকা ফ্যাসিবিরোধী ছাত্র আন্দোলনকে দমনের মাধ্যমে চুপ করিয়ে দেওয়া। তার সাথেই সাম্প্রতিক অবৈধ এসআইআর প্রক্রিয়ার মুখোশ খুলে যাওয়ার পর রাজ্যে ছাত্র আন্দোলন গড়ে ওঠার সম্ভাবনাকে শেষ করাও এর লক্ষ্য। ফ্যাসিবাদ ও তার প্রভু দেশিবিদেশী কর্পোরেটদের বিরোধিতার স্বরকে শেষ করে তাদের নিজেদের হাতের পুতুল তথা গুণ্ডাবাহিনীতে পরিণত করার উদ্দেশ্যেও এই ক্যাম্পাস দখল কর্মসূচি।
এই পরিস্থিতি আটকাতে বিভিন্ন ফ্যাসিবিরোধী, গণতান্ত্রিক, প্রগতিশীল সংগঠন ও ব্যক্তিবর্গের ঐক্যবদ্ধ জঙ্গি গণপ্রতিরোধই একমাত্র রাস্তা। এলাকায় এলাকায়, ক্যাম্পাসে ক্যাম্পাসে আত্মরক্ষা কমিটি গঠন করা প্রয়োজন। ফ্যাসিবাদী চক্রের কোনরকম উপাদান যাতে ক্যাম্পাস চত্ত্বরে কোনোভাবেই সমস্যা সৃষ্টি না করতে পারে — এ বিষয় ছাত্রছাত্রীদের নজর রাখতে হবে এবং প্রয়োজন মত ঐক্যবদ্ধ প্রতিরোধ করে তাদের ক্যাম্পাসছাড়া করতে হবে। বিপ্লবী ছাত্র ফ্রন্ট স্পষ্ট করছে, এবিজিপি আয়োজিত ফ্যাসিবাদী কার্যকলাপকে পরোক্ষভাবে সমর্থন করে যাওয়া SRFTI কর্তৃপক্ষ এই ঘটনার অন্যতম দায়ী। আমরা দাবি করছি, তাদের নিজেদের অবস্থান পরিষ্কার করতে হবে এবং হামলাকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। প্রশাসনকে হামলাকারী প্রত্যেকটি ফ্যাসিবাদী গুণ্ডাকে গ্রেফতার করতে হবে এবং তাদের বিরুদ্ধে সঠিক তদন্ত চালাতে হবে। বারংবার শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলিতে ছাত্রবিরোধী কার্যকলাপ উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত, যার দায় অবশ্যই বিজেপি-আরএসএসের। তাদের এই দায় স্বীকার করে প্রকাশ্যে ক্ষমা চাইতে হবে। ‘গুণ্ডা বাহিনীর সাথে আমাদের কোনো সম্পর্ক নেই’ ধরণের ভুয়ো কথা বলে দায় এড়ানো চলবে না। আমরা গুণ্ডাদের মধ্যে সায়ন লাহিড়ী সহ একাধিক আরএসএস নেতাকে দেখেছি। তাই মিডিয়ায় মিথ্যা বলে বিভ্রান্ত করার চেষ্টা বৃথা। ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পড়ুয়াদের চিকিৎসার ব্যবস্থা কর্তৃপক্ষ ও সরকারকেই করতে হবে। এর সাথেই মনে রাখুন, ফ্যাসিবাদের মূলোচ্ছেদ ছাড়া এই ধরণের ঘটনা ঘটতেই থাকবে। সেই লক্ষ্যে ও প্রতিটি দাবি পূরণের স্বার্থে সমস্ত ফ্যাসিবিরোধী, গণতান্ত্রিক, প্রগতিশীল ছাত্র সংগঠন সম্মিলিতভাবে বৃহত্তর জঙ্গি ছাত্র আন্দোলন গড়ে তুলুন।

বিপ্লবী ছাত্র ফ্রন্ট (RSF) SRFTI-এর সংগ্রামী শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি সংহতি প্রকাশ করছে। গতকাল ২৭শে সেপ্টেম্বর কলকাতার সত্যজিৎ রায় ফিল্ম অ্যান্ড টেলিভিশন ইনস্টিটিউটে (SRFTI) ছাত্রছাত্রীদের ওপর চড়াও হয় আরএসএসের শাখা সংগঠন তথা ফ্যাসিবাদী গুণ্ডাবাহিনী অখিল ভারতীয় গ্রাহক পঞ্চায়েতের (এবিজিপি) সদস্যরা। এই এবিজিপি গতকাল একটি কর্মসূচির নামে ক্যাম্পাসে জড়ো হয় এবং তাদের মঞ্চ থেকে লাগাতার সাম্প্রদায়িক উস্কানিমূলক বক্তব্য রাখতে থাকে। সাথে স্লোগানের আস্ফালন চালাতে শুরু করে। উল্লেখযোগ্য, সাধারণ ছাত্রছাত্রী, এমনকি ছাত্র ইউনিয়নের সাথেও কোনরকম আলোচনা না করেই ক্যাম্পাসের ভিতরেই এই কর্মসূচি পালনের অনুমতি দেয় কর্তৃপক্ষ। যার বিরোধিতায় পোস্টার লাগাতে গেলে শিক্ষার্থীদের ওপর মারধর শুরু করে এবিজিপি গুণ্ডারা। ৭-৮ জন পড়ুয়াকে ছুরি সহ ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে জখম করে এবিজিপি। পড়ুয়াদের জামাকাপড় ছিঁড়ে দেওয়া হয়, ছাত্রীদের হেনস্থা করা হয়, বিনা অনুমতিতে তাদের ভিডিও পর্যন্ত তোলা হয়েছে, অনেকের মোবাইল কেড়ে নেওয়া হয়। গুণ্ডাদের থেকে বাঁচতে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা লাইব্রেরিতে পৌঁছালে লাইব্রেরি ঘিরে ফেলে ফ্যাসিবাদী বাহিনী। লাইব্রেরিয়ানকে পর্যন্ত মারধর করে তারা। ‘ককরোচ’ ও চিরাচরিত ‘অ্যান্টিন্যাশনাল’ সহ মৌখিকভাবে অশ্রাব্য গালিগালাজ করা হয়।
স্বাভাবিকভাবেই, শিক্ষার্থীরা সম্মিলিত প্রতিরোধ শুরু করলে এবিজিপি গুণ্ডারা ওই জায়গা থেকে পালায়। ক্যাম্পাসের মধ্যে হামলায় অভিযুক্তদের আটক করে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা। এর মধ্যেই বাইরে থেকে ক্যাম্পাসে প্রচুর পরিমাণে গুণ্ডা ঢোকাতে শুরু করে এবিজিপি। সায়ন লাহিড়ীর মত হিন্দুত্ববাদী নেতার উপস্থিতিতে আরএসএস-বিজেপি-এবিজিপি-বিজেওয়াইএম-ভিএইচপি ফ্যাসিবাদী চক্র ক্যাম্পাসের ভিতরে পড়ুয়াদের লক্ষ্য করে বাইরে থেকে ইট, পাথর, জলের বোতল ছোঁড়া শুরু করে। আহত হয় অনেকে। এই পুরো সময়ে কর্তৃপক্ষের তরফে কোনরকম সাড়া পাওয়া যায়নি। যখন ছাত্রছাত্রীরা গুণ্ডাদের আটক করে তখন পুলিশ এসে তাদের ধরে নিয়ে যায়। শেষ পাওয়া খবর অনুযায়ী, তাদের ছেড়েও দেওয়া হয়েছে। অর্থাৎ গুণ্ডাদের ‘উদ্ধার’ করতেই পুলিশ এসেছিল। যদিও প্রশংসনীয় ভাবে SRFTI-এর পড়ুয়াদের প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুললে পালাতে বাধ্য হয় ফ্যাসিবাহিনী। এই অবস্থায় দালাল মিডিয়ার বক্তব্য, “পড়ুয়ারা অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করছে।” যা সম্পূর্ণ তাদের চরিত্রগত মিথ্যা প্রচার। আমরা আশঙ্কা করছি, ক্যাম্পাসে আবারও হামলা হতে পারে।
দেশজুড়ে বিভিন্ন শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে রাষ্ট্র ক্ষমতাকে ব্যবহার করে বর্তমান ব্রাহ্মণ্যবাদী হিন্দুত্ব ফ্যাসিবাদী বিজেপি-আরএসএসের সরকার দমন নামিয়ে এনেছে। শুধু শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান নয়, বিভিন্ন গণআন্দোলন, গণপ্রতিবাদের ক্ষেত্রেই আমরা তা দেখছি। হকার উচ্ছেদ, বস্তি উচ্ছেদের নামে, সাধারণ মানুষের কাছ থেকে তোলা তোলায়, শ্রমিক ও ছাত্র আন্দোলন ভাঙতে, সংখ্যালঘু বিরোধী বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে আরএসএসের গুণ্ডাবাহিনী হামলা চালিয়েছে। পুলিশ দর্শক হিসাবে তা দেখে গেছে। অন্যদিকে, গুণ্ডাদমনের নামে প্রতিবাদীদের আটক করে চলেছে সরকার। SRFTI-এর ঘটনা তারই ধারাবাহিকতা। এর আগে আমরা দেখেছি যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের ওপর ফ্যাসিবাদী চক্রের ভয়ানক হামলা। গত ৪ঠা মে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রশাসন দখলের পর বিজেপি যে সমস্ত জনবিরোধী কার্যকলাপ চালিয়েছে, তার মধ্যে ক্যাম্পাস দখল অন্যতম। একদিকে, প্রাতিষ্ঠানিকভাবে বিভিন্ন আইন এনে এবং অন্যদিকে, ধর্ষক, গুণ্ডাবাহিনী লেলিয়ে দিয়ে ক্যাম্পাসগুলি দখল করা হয়েছে। বেশিরভাগ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে এবিভিপি (এবং তাদের দোসর এনএসএফ) ছাড়া অন্য কোনো বিরোধী রাজনৈতিক ছাত্র সংগঠনের অস্তিত্ব রাখা হয়নি। NEP 2020 প্রভৃতি আইনের মাধ্যমে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের প্রতিনিধিত্বমূলক ছাত্র সংসদ তুলে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা চলছে। গত প্রায় দশ বছর ধরে ছাত্র সংসদ নির্বাচন মুলতুবি করে রাখা হয়েছে আগের তৃণমূল সরকারের আমল থেকেই। বর্তমান বিজেপি সরকার ছাত্র-শিক্ষক ঐক্য ভাঙতে পাশ করাতে চাইছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক বিল। যাতে সরকার ইচ্ছামত শিক্ষকদের বদলি করার ক্ষমতা পাবে। এই পরিস্থিতিতেও বর্তমানে যে কয়টি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান এখনো আরএসএস-বিজেপির করায়ত্ত হয়নি, তাদের মধ্যে একটি SRFTI। যাদবপুরের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মতোই এই প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন সময়ে এসআইআর, এনআরসি সহ বিভিন্ন জনবিরোধী আইনের বিরুদ্ধে সক্রিয় প্রতিবাদ জানিয়ে এসেছে। ঠিক সেজন্যই যাদবপুরের মত এখানকার শিক্ষার্থীদেরও আক্রমণের লক্ষ্যবস্তু বানাচ্ছে ফ্যাসিবাদ। যাদবপুরের মতোই SRFTI কর্তৃপক্ষের উদাসীনতা ও তার আড়ালে ফ্যাসিবাদের সহযোগিতা করে যাওয়া আসলে কর্তৃপক্ষের গেরুয়াকরণের স্পষ্ট ইঙ্গিত। এই আক্রমণ শুধু যাদবপুর বা SRFTI নয় — গণতান্ত্রিক পরিসর তথা ক্যাম্পাস | 21 |

| 15 | ভারতে ব্রাহ্মণ্যবাদী হিন্দুত্ব ফ্যাসিবাদী আরএসএস পরিচালিত বিজেপি সরকার ব্রিটিশ সরকারের সুযোগ্য উত্তরসুরি হিসাবেই “উদ্দেশ্যের প্রশ্নটি পুরোপুরি ভুলিয়ে দিয়ে” ঝিরামঘাঁটির ন্যায্য গণপ্রতিরোধে সামিল রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিল। যার তীব্র বিরোধিতা করছি আমরা। মৃত্যুদণ্ড একমাত্র বিরল থেকে বিরলতম ‘অপরাধে’র ক্ষেত্রেই দেওয়া যায়। রাজনৈতিক সংঘাত-প্রতিরোধকে কখনোই সেই বিরল থেকে বিরলতম ‘অপরাধে’র মধ্যে ফেলা যায় না। অর্থাৎ, এই রায় এমনকি ভারতের বিচারব্যবস্থার মানদণ্ডেরই বিরোধী। আসলে এতদিন ধরে চলা রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের বিচারবহির্ভূত হত্যা, বিচার চলাকালীন ধীরে ধীরে হত্যার গণ্ডি পেরিয়ে বর্তমান শাসকশ্রেণি বিচার ব্যবস্থাকেই ব্যবহার করে আরো বেশি নগ্ন সন্ত্রাস চালাতে চাইছে। এই ‘বিচারের প্রহসন’ তাই প্রমাণ করছে। উল্টোদিকে, আমরা দেখছি ধর্ষক আশারাম বাপু থেকে উন্নাওয়ের নৃশংসতম ধর্ষণে যুক্ত বিজেপি বিধায়ক কুলদীপ সেঙ্গার, গুজরাত গণহত্যা ও বিলকিস বানোর ধর্ষণে অভিযুক্তরা, দিল্লি থেকে মুর্শিদাবাদে দাঙ্গা তথা সুপরিকল্পিত সংখ্যালঘু মুসলিম গণহত্যায় জড়িত নেতাদের, গ্রাহাম স্টাইন সহ দলিত, আদিবাসীদের গণহত্যাকারীরা শাসক দল তথা শাসক শ্রেণির ছত্রছায়ায় থাকার কারণে বেকসুর খালাস থেকে বারংবার প্যারোল, মুক্তি পেয়েই চলেছে। কারণ এরা প্রত্যেকেই আসলে বর্তমান শাসকের সন্ত্রাসী কর্মকাণ্ডের হাতিয়ার। বরং এই সমস্ত ঘটনার বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিরোধে অংশ নিলেই তা রাষ্ট্রের চোখরাঙানির কারণ হয়ে উঠছে।
মাওবাদী রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের চিরকালই শ্রেণিস্বার্থের পথের কাঁটা হিসাবেই দেখে এসেছে রাষ্ট্র। তাই আমরা দেখছি, মাওবাদী দমনের নামে তথা আদিবাসী গণহত্যার রূপরেখা হিসাবেই সালওয়া জুড়ুমের পথেই উঠে এসেছে অপারেশন গ্রিনহান্ট, অপারেশন সমাধান-প্রহার, সুরজকুণ্ড রণনীতি থেকে আজকের অপারেশন কাগার। একদিকে, সাম্রাজ্যবাদের স্বার্থে ভারতের প্রাকৃতিক, খনিজ ও শ্রমশক্তিকে বেসরকারিকরণ করার ও তার জন্য আদিবাসীদের বাসস্থান কেড়ে নেওয়ার অপচেষ্টা চলছে। চালানো হচ্ছে গণহত্যা, আকাশপথে বোমাবর্ষণ, ধর্ষণ, গ্রাম জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া থেকে একের পর এক নৃশংস ঘটনা। অন্যদিকে, এর বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিরোধরত মাওবাদী বিপ্লবীদের বিরুদ্ধে চালানো হচ্ছে সর্বাত্মক ধ্বংসাত্মক যুদ্ধ। গত দেড় বছরে ভারতের মাওবাদী পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক সহ উচ্চস্তরের নেতৃত্ব থেকে সাধারণ কর্মীদের অনেকেই শহীদ হয়েছেন। বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই তাদের খুন করা হয়েছে জেলবন্দি করে, ভুয়া এনকাউন্টারে। এই দমন বৃহত্তর ভাবে নামিয়ে আনা হচ্ছে প্রতিটি রাজনৈতিক বিরোধী, সরকার বিরোধী শক্তি তথা বুদ্ধিজীবী, ছাত্র, সাংবাদিক, লেখকদের ওপরেও। কখনো তাদের ‘শহুরে নকশাল’, কখনো ‘মস্তিষ্কগত নকশাল’ আখ্যা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। এই গণতান্ত্রিক অংশটিকেও লক্ষ্যবস্তু করে জেলে আটক করা হচ্ছে। তাদের চরম শারীরিক অসুস্থতা সত্ত্বেও জামিন নামঞ্জুর করা হচ্ছে। এবছরই পশ্চিমবঙ্গের জেলে ন্যূনতম চিকিৎসার সুযোগ না পেয়ে শহীদ হয়েছেন মাওবাদী পার্টির কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সদস্য ও দীর্ঘদিনের রাজনৈতিক কর্মী প্রবীণ কমরেড প্রশান্ত বোস। কিছুদিন আগেই আমরা দেখেছি, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের জেলে বন্দি রাজনৈতিক বন্দীদের ন্যূনতম যোগাযোগের মাধ্যম টেলিফোনের সুবিধাও কেড়ে নিয়েছে সরকার। এবার, আটক করে তিলে তিলে খুন করার বদলে, আরও নগ্নভাবে বিচারব্যবস্থাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের খুনের চক্রান্ত করেছে সরকার।
আমরা বিপ্লবী ছাত্র ফ্রন্ট (RSF) ঝিরামঘাঁটির ন্যায্য গণপ্রতিরোধের ঘটনায় মাওবাদী রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের মৃত্যুদণ্ডের রায়ের বিরোধিতা করছি। শাসকশ্রেণির অস্ত্র তথা ক্ষমতার আস্ফালন হিসাবেই বর্তমান রাষ্ট্র ও তার বিচারব্যবস্থা গণহত্যার বিরুদ্ধে দৃঢ়ভাবে গণপ্রতিরোধ গড়ে তোলা রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিতে চায়। এই সিদ্ধান্ত কমরেড ভগতের কথায়, “ন্যায়ের বুনিয়াদি ধারণার বিরোধী”। তাঁর কথার সূত্র ধরে আমরাও মনে করি, “যে আইন যুক্তির বুনিয়াদের উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত নয়, যা ন্যায়ের মূল নীতির বিরোধী, তেমন আইনকে ধিক্! সে আইনের অবসান হয়ে যাওয়াই উচিত।” আমরা স্পষ্ট করে বলতে চাই, জীবনের অধিকার কেড়ে নেওয়ার এক্তিয়ার রাষ্ট্রের নেই। কিছুদিন আগেই ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টির (মাওবাদী) সদস্য কমরেড অসীম মণ্ডলকে গ্রেফতার করেছে কলকাতা এসটিএফ। গণপ্রতিরোধ হোক বা সরকার বিরোধিতা কোনোভাবেই অপরাধ হতে পারে না। আমরা এই প্রত্যেকটি রাজনৈতিক বন্দির অবিলম্বে নিঃশর্ত মুক্তি চাইছি। স্পষ্টতই, বর্তমান রাষ্ট্রব্যবস্থায় মৃত্যুদণ্ড শোষিত শ্রেণির প্রতিরোধ দমনে রাষ্ট্রের হাতিয়ার ছাড়া কিছুই নয়। তাই আমরা সার্বিকভাবে মৃত্যুদণ্ডের বিরোধিতা করছি। আমরা এও জানি, বর্তমান ফ্যাসিবাদী সরকার কখনোই আমাদের এইসমস্ত দাবি মেনে নেবে না। কখনোই তারা এই শোষণমূলক ব্যবস্থা উচ্ছেদ করতে তৎপর বিপ্লবী রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের ছেড়ে দেবে না। যেমনটা ব্রিটিশ সরকার কমরেড ভগৎ সিংদের ক্ষেত্রেও দেয়নি। তাই এই মুহূর্তে উক্ত | 28 |

সাথী, গত ১৬ই সেপ্টেম্বর ছত্তিশগড়ের জগদলপুরে ফ্যাসিবাদী বিজেপি সরকারের পোষ্য সন্ত্রাসবাদী এনআইএ পরিচালিত আদালত ১০ জন মাওবাদী রাজনৈতিক কর্মীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ডের আদেশ দিয়েছে। ২০১৩ সালে ছত্তিশগড়ের দারভার ঝিরামঘাঁটিতে গণপ্রতিরোধের ঘটনার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে এই রায় দেওয়া হয়েছে। উক্ত ঘটনায় বিপ্লবী জনগণ খতম করেছিল কুখ্যাত ভাড়াটে গুণ্ডাবাহিনী সালওয়া জুড়ুমের নেতা মহেন্দ্র কর্মা, নন্দ কুমার প্যাটেল সহ বেশ কয়েকজনকে। এই গণহত্যাকারীরা ২০০৫ সাল থেকে সালওয়া জুড়ুমের নামে আদিবাসী গণহত্যা চালিয়ে গেছে। সালওয়া জুড়ুম তৎকালীন শাসকের হাতে গড়ে ওঠা ধর্ষক, খুনে বাহিনী। যাদের তৈরিই করা হয়েছিল মধ্যভারতের বিস্তীর্ণ অঞ্চলের প্রাকৃতিক ও খনিজ সম্পদ দেশিবিদেশি কর্পোরেটদের তথা বেসরকারি হাতে তুলে দেওয়া নিশ্চিত করতে, উক্ত অঞ্চলের স্থানীয় আদিবাসীদের উৎখাত করতে, খুন, ধর্ষণের মাধ্যমে সন্ত্রাস সৃষ্টির পরিকল্পনার অংশ হিসাবে। এই জনবিরোধী কার্যকলাপের মাঝেই ঢাল হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিল মাওবাদী বিপ্লবী কমিউনিস্টরা। তাই আজ তাদের শেষ করে প্রতিরোধের স্পর্ধাকে গুঁড়িয়ে দিতে তৎপর রাষ্ট্র।
ঝিরামঘাঁটির ঘটনা কোনো ব্যক্তিগত লোভ, ঈর্ষা থেকে ঘটেনি। শাসক শ্রেণি তথা রাজনৈতিক দলের বেলাগাম ধর্ষণ, খুন, অত্যাচারের বিরুদ্ধে শোষিত জনগণের রাজনৈতিক প্রতিরোধ ছিল ঝিরামঘাঁটি। কমরেড ভগৎ লিখছেন, “যদি উদ্দেশ্যর প্রশ্নটিকে পুরোপুরি ভুলিয়ে দেওয়া হয় তবে কোন ব্যক্তির প্রতি ন্যায়বিচার সম্ভব নয়। উদ্দেশ্যকে যদি লক্ষ্য না করা হয় তবে বড় বড় সেনাপতিকে সাধারণ হত্যাকারী বলে মনে হবে, সরকারী শুল্ক সংগ্রাহকরা চোর-জালিয়াতের সমপর্যায়ে এসে দাঁড়াবে, বিচারপতিদের বিরুদ্ধে খুনের অভিযোগ উঠবে এবং গোটা সমাজব্যবস্থা ও মানব সভ্যতা খুনখারাপি, চুরি এবং প্রতারণার আখড়া বলে চিহ্নিত হবে। যদি উদ্দেশ্যের প্রশ্নটিকে উপেক্ষা করা হয় তবে শাসকরাই বা কোন অধিকারে জনসাধারণকে ন্যায়ের পথে চলতে উপদেশ দেয়?” সালওয়া জুড়ুমের বিরুদ্ধে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে গণহত্যা, ধর্ষণ, খুন, গ্রাম জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া থেকে একের পর এক ভয়াবহ মানবাধিকার লঙ্খনের ঘটনা। যার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে তীব্র গণআন্দোলনের চাপে খোদ ভারতের সুপ্রিম কোর্ট পর্যন্ত সালওয়া জুড়ুমকে নিষিদ্ধ করতে বাধ্য হয়। যদিও এরপর থেকে কংগ্রেস, বিজেপি সহ শাসক দলগুলির নেতা, স্থানীয় জোতদার, ও তাদের সাম্রাজ্যবাদী প্রভুদের অর্থ ও অস্ত্রের সাহায্যে এই বাহিনী অন্য নামে আদিবাসী উচ্ছেদের ঘৃণ্য পরিকল্পনা চালিয়ে যেতে থাকে। আজও ডিস্ট্রিক্ট রিজার্ভ গার্ড (DRG), স্পেশাল পুলিশ অফিসার (SPO) প্রভৃতি নামে এরা আরও ধ্বংসাত্মক গণহত্যার যজ্ঞ ‘অপারেশন কাগারে’র অংশ হয়ে রয়েছে।
আসলে কোনো ঘটনার পিছনে থাকা কারণ বাদ দিয়ে সেই ঘটনাকে বিচার করা যায় না। তাই ঝিরামঘাঁটির ঘটনার ইতিহাসও আমাদের জানা প্রয়োজন। এই ভাড়াটে খুনে বাহিনী ২০১৩ সালের ১৭ই মে ওই অঞ্চলে আদিবাসী জনগণের ওপর হামলা চালিয়ে ৩ জন শিশু সহ ৮ জন আদিবাসী জনগণকে খুন করে। যদিও তা সরকারি হিসাবে। এই ঘটনা বিচ্ছিন্ন ঘটনা ছিল না। সালওয়া জুড়ুমের হাতে ৩ হাজারেরও বেশি আদিবাসী খুন হন, ৭ শ’র বেশি গ্রাম জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া হয়, ২ লাখের বেশি মানুষকে পালিয়ে যেতে হয় নিজেদের গ্রাম ছেড়ে, অসংখ্য আদিবাসী নারীকে ধর্ষণের শিকার হতে হয়। এই অবস্থায় প্রতিঘাত বিপ্লবী তথা সাধারণ জনগণের কর্তব্য হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিল। মাওবাদী বিপ্লবীদের নেতৃত্বে বিপ্লবী জনগণের সংগঠিত ন্যায্য গণপ্রতিরোধেই খতম হয়েছিল মহেন্দ্র কর্মা সহ গণহত্যায় মদতদাতাদের একটা অংশ। সেই প্রতিরোধে অংশ নেওয়ায় মৃত্যুদণ্ডের আদেশ দেওয়া হল ১০ জন মাওবাদী বিপ্লবীকে।
কমরেড মার্ক্স বলেছিলেন, ইতিহাসের পুনরাবৃত্তি ঘটে। ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্যবাদ বিরোধী সংগ্রামের ইতিহাসে আমরা একই ঘটনার সাক্ষী থেকেছি। ব্রিটিশ অ্যাসেম্বলিতে বোমা ফেলার পর ধরা দেন ভগৎ সিং ও বটুকেশ্বর দত্ত। লাহোর হাইকোর্টে ভগৎ সিং বিবৃতিতে বলেন, “জেনারেল ডায়ারের উদাহরণটিই ধরা যাক। উনি গুলি চালিয়েছিলেন এবং শত শত নিরস্ত্র নিরপরাধ মানুষকে হত্যা করেছেন। কিন্তু সামরিক আদালত তাকে ফায়ারিং স্কোয়াডের সামনে দাঁড় করানোর আদেশ না দিয়ে, লাখ টাকা ইনাম দিয়েছে।” এরপর ব্রিটিশ সরকার কর্তৃক তাঁদের সাজা প্রসঙ্গে কমরেড বলছেন, “আমরা সকলে আইন প্রদত্ত অধিকারগুলি পাচ্ছি না কেন? তা কি এই জন্য যে আমরা প্রচলিত শাসনের বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়িয়েছি। নাকি আমাদের কাজগুলির রাজনৈতিক গুরুত্ব আছে বলেই আইন প্রদত্ত অধিকারগুলি আমরা পাচ্ছি না!” আজকের | 24 |

| 19 | Elite institutes such as the IITs are run according to the demands of domestic and foreign corporations, and education is turned into a commodity. University administrators act as corporate managers of brand value, not as custodians of public education. In such a rotten system, protecting institutional reputation takes precedence over protecting students’ lives. It is obvious that under the fascist regime, this crisis will only grow deeper. What needs to be addressed is that this is a structural crisis, and no number of committees or reforms can resolve a system that is fundamentally dehumanising. We need to construct an alternative people-centred, scientific education system that serves the people, rather than the market. Education must be publicly funded, universally accessible, and oriented toward social needs. It must encourage critical thinking, cooperation, and dismantle the Brahminical patriarchal hierarchies and all forms of oppression within campuses. Students are not a cheap source of skilled labour. We are thinking, feeling human beings. Until we struggle towards building a people-centric education system and a truly democratic state, these unfortunate deaths will continue.
To break this exploitative system, we must first eradicate fascism. By formulating a mass scientific education system under the new democratic India, the difference between mental and physical labor among students was reduced. Education must be carried forward through a sound scientific method of theory, practice, theoretical development, and application. And of course, post-education employment will be arranged. RSF supports the ongoing student protest at the IIT Bombay. We demand an impartial investigation into all allegations, institutional accountability and an end to caste-based discrimination, harassment and oppressive academic practices within educational institutions. We demand justice and adequate compensation for Sahil Ravindra Wakode’s family. We call upon all the progressive, democratic, and anti-fascist organisations and individuals to rise in rage against these institutional murders of students and build a militant mass movement against the anti-student educational system and the state run by Brahminical Hindutva fascist BJP-RSS that treats students as disposable and to stand in support of the protesting students of IIT Bombay. | 48 |

Revolutionary Students’ Front (RSF) strongly condemns the suicide of Sahil Ravindra Wakode, a second-year BTech student of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay after the alleged caste discrimination at the campus. We extend our solidarity to his family, friends and fellow students. On September 18, Sahil was found dead in his hostel room. Since September 19, more than 400 students have been protesting on campus, demanding an independent and transparent investigation into Sahil’s death, accountability from the administration, the resignation of the Director and Dean, an inquiry into four (three in 2026 itself) student suicides reported over the past year, student representation in academic committees, effective mental health support, and protection from intimidation or disciplinary action against protesters. Sahil’s parents have complained that he faced caste discrimination, casteist remarks and institutional harassment, following which police registered an FIR against Professor Suryanarayan Dulla and others under provisions relating to abetment of suicide and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. IIT Bombay has denied receiving any prior caste-discrimination complaint from Sahil, and the investigation is ongoing. The authorities have also alleged that Sahil was caught using a mobile phone and uploading the question paper to ChatGPT to seek answers during an examination the same day.
Student suicide has become a severe national crisis. Official NCRB data show that more than 14,488 students died by suicide in 2024 alone. On average, more than 35 students are forced to commit suicide every single day in this country and the number has been rising alarmingly. The recurring deaths of students across the country expose an educational system that treats students as a disposable source of skilled labour, rather than as human beings. The pattern is the same across all institutions — IIT, IIM, IISER. At IIT Bombay, the death of Darshan Solanki in February, 2023 became a national flashpoint, raising grave issues of caste-based violence and exclusion within the elite campuses. The crisis is not confined to one campus, one department or one administration. It is the direct outcome of the systemic degradation of our whole educational system, which subjects students to serve the needs of capital. Universities and colleges are production sites for cheap, skilled labour tailored to corporate and global market demands. This system is built around relentless competition, examinations, and rankings from an early age as through an unscientific way. Moreover, with the continuous saffronisation of campuses, the situation for students is worsening. ABVP goons are given a free pass to terrorise campuses through violence, while university authorities facilitate their activities both directly and indirectly. A few months ago, ABVP goons killed a student at the University of Hyderabad after accusing him of stealing. Democratic students are facing increasing oppression at the hands of the nexus between Brahminical Hindutva fascists, university authorities, and the police. From the institutional murders of Rohith Vemula, Chuni Kotal and Darshan Solanki to hundreds of other such cases, caste-based discrimination and violence are glaring issues within these so-called “Institutes of National Importance.” Sahil’s parents’ complaints in this regard must be treated with the utmost seriousness and given priority in the investigation.
Moreover, across the country, campuses are increasingly turning into sites of state surveillance and fascist repression rather than spaces of free thought and intellectual growth. Privatisation and commercialisation through the NEP 2020 only intensified this crisis. Public funding is reduced while fees are continuously increased, pushing students and their families into debt.
