A country that meets most of its strategic needs internally will be more resilient in the face of sanctions, threats, and external pressure. In other words, dependence is the starting point of pressure; self-reliance is the starting point of deterrence.
📌 The Ongoing Competition: Deterrence Is a Continuous Process
📝 This reality does not mean that Iran is immune to threats or has no need to further strengthen its national power. Nor does it mean that the #US has abandoned its efforts to increase pressure on Iran. Rather, the competition between Iran and the United States continues, with Washington seeking to employ a wide range of tools—from sanctions and economic pressure to diplomacy, cognitive warfare, and efforts to build greater alignment among its regional partners—to intensify pressure on Iran.

📝 On this basis, Iran’s success does not lie solely in increasing its defensive power; it also depends on continuously raising the cost of any attempt by the enemy to impose its will on Iran. 📌 The Challenge of Coalition-Building
📝 First, #America’s traditional strategy for managing crises is to build broad political, economic, and military coalitions. The experiences of the #PersianGulf War and the invasions of #Afghanistan and #Iraq show that Washington typically distributes the costs of confrontation among its allies—both to increase the legitimacy of its actions and to reduce its own burden. The more difficult it becomes to form such a coalition, the higher the cost of taking action against the target country. The weaker the coalition, the stronger the deterrence of the opposing side.
📝 For this reason, one of the most important components of Iran’s deterrence is preventing the formation of a comprehensive anti-#Iranian consensus and coalition. Coalition-building is a force multiplier for American power; preventing it is a force multiplier for Iranian deterrence.

📝 Whenever countries have possessed greater cohesion, stronger defensive capabilities, and a greater capacity to resist, the cost to the United States of achieving its objectives has risen significantly—and in some cases, Washington has faced serious obstacles in achieving its stated goals.
📝 The #Vietnam War, two decades of US presence in Afghanistan, the challenges that followed the occupation of Iraq, and the failure to achieve many of Washington’s declared objectives in the region all demonstrate that military superiority does not necessarily translate into strategic or political victory—for a territory may be occupied, but the will of a nation cannot.
