| 2 | Severe flash flooding in the Grand Canyon’s Bright Angel Creek corridor has left 15 people unaccounted for, down from an earlier estimate of more than 20, as search efforts continue. More than 60 people have been evacuated from Phantom Ranch & the lower North Kaibab Trail, with no injuries reported so far. Floodwaters destroyed nearly all footbridges over Bright Angel Creek and caused extensive damage to trails, utilities & facilities, forcing closures of Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, the North Kaibab Trail & two Colorado River bridges. Debris and damaged metal structures have also temporarily closed the Colorado River to boat traffic. Officials are asking anyone with information about hikers, backpackers or campers who were in the area Saturday to contact the park so they can determine who is safe. Additional storms could complicate both the ongoing search operation and what is expected to be a substantial cleanup and rebuilding effort.

Anderson sued the Arizona Board of Regents after ASU required employees to take its “Inclusive Communities” DEI training, which included concepts involving “transformative justice,” “whiteness” & “heteronormativity.” Arizona law prohibits state agencies from requiring employee training that assigns blame or judgment based on race, ethnicity or sex and prohibits taxpayer funding for such training. The immediate issue before the Supreme Court is whether state employees like Anderson have the right to sue their government employer to enforce that law after the Court of Appeals ruled that the statute does not provide a private right of action. The Supreme Court’s decision could therefore extend well beyond ASU’s DEI practices by determining whether Arizona public employees can hold state agencies accountable in court when they violate statutory protections.

The approximately 60-minute workout included sprints, planks, push-ups & bear crawls and was led by a former Green Beret who was not an ASU employee. Mayich was reportedly the only player among the team who collapsed or required hospitalization, and possible explanations have focused on heat-related illness and the intensity of the workout. His family is asking for continued prayers. Questions have also been raised about cardiac problems among young men following COVID vaccination because myocarditis is a recognized adverse effect, particularly among adolescent and young adult males after certain COVID vaccines. However, no evidence has been reported establishing that Mayich’s cardiac arrest was caused by a COVID vaccine, and his vaccination status and the medical cause of his collapse have not been disclosed.

The international REMAP-CAP trial finally made that comparison among 442 patients with confirmed influenza and found no benefit: roughly 20% receiving Tamiflu died within 90 days compared with about 14% receiving no antiviral, leading researchers to conclude that Tamiflu was ineffective & highly likely to increase 90-day mortality in critically ill seasonal-flu patients. | 15 | Federal & local authorities rescued two juvenile girls believed to be victims of sex trafficking during an operation in Tolleson, AZ. The investigation began with a 16-year-old who had been missing since June 11. After Phoenix Police requested assistance, the U.S. Marshals Service identified online information involving people suspected of exploiting & transporting her for commercial sex and tracked her to a Tolleson residence, where she was safely recovered with assistance from the AZ WANTED Violent Offender Task Force. During the operation, investigators discovered a second minor who initially claimed to be an adult and had left home without being reported missing; authorities determined she was also likely being commercially sexually exploited. Both girls were connected with their families & specialized services for trafficking victims. Phoenix Police’s Human Exploitation & Trafficking Unit is investigating whether suspects facilitated commercial sex acts or created, possessed or distributed CSAM involving the girls. No criminal charges have yet been announced.

| 16 | Lindsay Clancy admitted killing her three children, ages 5, 3 & 8 months, by strangling them with exercise cords, while her trial centers on whether the killings were premeditated or caused by postpartum psychosis. Despite the uncontested killings, large numbers of women have publicly supported Clancy, with some blaming her husband without evidence and others posting “Same, Lindsay” messages suggesting they personally identify with her actions or emotional state. This creates a contradiction for women’s equality: generations of women fought the belief that women were too emotional or irrational to exercise the same judgment, responsibility & political rights as men, yet some of Clancy’s supporters effectively revive that stereotype by suggesting hormones or motherhood can make women incapable of fundamental moral judgment or criminal responsibility. Most women do not condone murdering children, but supporters claiming Clancy represents women generally undermine that distinction. Sympathy for postpartum mental illness is fundamentally different from excusing the deliberate killing of three children, and treating women as less accountable for horrific acts because of their sex ultimately undermines the equality those supporters otherwise demand.

Similar disputes are occurring nationwide, including cases involving hundreds of undisclosed gender-support plans in CA and schools in MD, NY, MI, IL & VA accused of concealing students’ gender identities from parents. Bonta parental-rights ruling to establish that schools cannot substitute their judgment for parents or secretly socially transition children behind their parents’ backs.

| 18 | Florida is requiring middle & high school students to learn the history of communism, including its ideology, totalitarian regimes, human-rights abuses & devastating consequences around the world. Unlike education mandates that provide little guidance or funding, Florida has established standards, selected instructional materials, developed curriculum, funded implementation & provided teachers with approved resources. The requirement addresses a major gap in historical education that has left many students knowledgeable about slavery, Jim Crow, colonialism & Nazism while knowing little about communist regimes, the Cold War or the millions of people imprisoned, persecuted & killed under communism. That lack of knowledge leaves young people vulnerable to romanticized portrayals of socialism & communism that focus on promises of equality and government benefits while ignoring their historical consequences. Teaching students the complete historical record isn't indoctrination; withholding that history is. Students should understand communism well enough to evaluate its promises, compare them with its real-world outcomes & think critically for themselves.

Investigators may interview neighbors, landlords, employers, coworkers & nearby businesses to evaluate an applicant’s residency, moral character, attachment to the Constitution & willingness to contribute positively to the United States. The investigations will not be mandatory in every case, and applicants may submit character-reference letters from U.S. citizens supporting their eligibility, loyalty & character in an effort to obtain a waiver. USCIS Director Joseph Edlow says the investigations strengthen the integrity of naturalization, promote assimilation into American values & protect the privilege of U.S. citizenship. The change follows tougher citizenship testing implemented in 2025, which expanded the civics question bank from 100 to 128 questions, allows up to 20 questions during the exam instead of 10 & requires 12 correct answers rather than six while maintaining the 60% passing standard.
