#50shadesrecap October 2022 Today we’ll take a look back at what was being played on the main 50 Shades of Blues Rock channel exactly four years ago. Quite a big cut. #two4tuesday 2016. We keep sharing blues-rock of 2016. Oddly enough, we still haven't gotten around to a "Two 4 Tuesday" review launched in 2023 covering the blues-rock of 2016. Today we’ll rectify that oversight, while the final review for 2016 will be released in mid November this year. The surge and "explosion" of blues-rock popularity (the Blues Rock Revival) in 2016 resulted from the convergence of several musical trends, landmark releases, and cultural factors. This period was marked by a return to a "raw," live sound, standing in contrast to the dominance of polished electronic and pop music. More tunes and reading on our website. Top 20 pick-up to be posted on Blues Rock Charts later today. Let’s dive into 2016 now!

#bluesrock 2007. We’re moving on with our quick rundown of the 2000s. Today, 2004 has smoothly melted into 2007. Blues rock 2007 saw a noticeable surge in interest in raw, retro-inspired energy and heavy, groovy hybrid genres, rather than any single mainstream direction. The key events in blues-rock in 2007 were, above all, groundbreaking rock albums with blues elements: bands blended garage rock, stoner rock, and heavy blues. In March 2007, the American rock band Clutch released the critically acclaimed album *From Beale Street to Oblivion*, which was heavily influenced by Memphis blues and featured slide guitar The influence of post-punk (punk-blues) was clearly evident. Nick Cave and his side project Grinderman released their self-titled debut album in April 2007, blending aggressive punk, primitive garage rock, and “dirty,” hypnotic blues. Already available on our website. The standout hits from 2007 that caught our ears will soon be posted on the Blues Rock Charts Telegram channel.

#albumbluesrock Vol. 32/2026 In today’s review, we have two notable releases that came out recently in this year. We’ll quickly jump back to 2021 and highlight two more albums, and although tracks featured on them are all over our current playlists, we haven’t listened to them in their entirety. We also have two albums from 2004, which we’re still reviewing on the Blues Rock 2000–2025 web channel. And we have four more albums from way back in 1998, which is currently on our radar on the Blues Rock 1980–1999 web channel. In addition, today the Album Blues Rock channel posted a list of 300 historic albums that we’ve already listened to this year, and the 50 Shades of Blues Rock channel posted the third edition of the Album Blues Rock Recap, featuring a roundup of 105 Album Blues Rock hits which were previously featured on the Telegram channel “Blues Rock Charts.” (Vol.21-30/2026). Top 10 to follow up shortly on Blues Rock Charts media channel

#bluesrockmix Vol.141 We have a new mix looming out now. Mainly 2nd & 3rd decades of our century. Slightly a heavy edition but time is up to recap the nearest past. The mix is already on the 50 Shades of Blues Rock website. Top 16 to hit Blues Rock Charts in telegram shortly. Let’s groove, folks!

#two4tuesday (1995–1999). Today we’ve expanded our Two For Tuesday roundup to cover the second half of the ’90s. The ’90s were, above all, defined by a dirty sound and overdriven guitars. It was a time when classic blues collided with the alternative rock revolution. In this issue, you’ll find heavy riffs in the spirit of late Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as underrated, “gritty” blues-rock from bands that were overshadowed by Seattle’s grunge scene. 112 tracks, 56 artists, and 10 hours of nonstop music. It will be available on the website until the end of this year. So, there’s more than enough time to check it out. The calibrated top 20 will be out soon on the Blues Rock Charts Telegram channel. And starting October 12, the Album Blues Rock channel will opt to highlight significant releases from 1998 — a year whose calendar is identical to the current 2026. Let’s get started!

#bluesrock Funky 2025 The distinctly funky direction of blues-rock in 2025 represents a powerful intersection of modern production, audience demands, and generational shifts. Rather than strictly adhering to standard 12-bar shuffles, blues-rock in 2025 relied heavily on syncopated basslines, horn-driven grooves, and danceable rhythms. More reading and 80+ tracks are already on our website. More to come up shortly on Blues Rock Charts telegram media channel.

#outstanding To call her "the most amazing female rock guitarist of all time" would be an understatement: Teresa Russell is simply one of the best guitarists, period—regardless of gender. She has performed worldwide and shared the stage with such outstanding rock guitarists as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johnny Winter, Carl Palmer, Walter Trout, Carl Verheyen, Corby Yates, and others. Full story and music on our website. Selected tracks to come up shortly on Blues Rock Charts media channel.

The year 2010 marked the emergence of "neo-blues-rock," a movement that persisted until the end of 2020 before fully dissolving into the broader landscape of modern blues-rock, no longer representing the powerful, dominant force it had been throughout the decade. The blues-rock boom of 2010 signaled a major cultural shift: raw, gritty guitar-driven music successfully broke out of its niche to dominate alternative music charts. #albumbluesrock Vol. 31/2026 Today marks the start of the countdown for the final 10 blues-rock album releases of the year. It also concludes our overview of the best records of 2006, paving the way for a meticulous review of that year—to be featured in a couple of weeks on the "Blues-Rock 2000–2025" channel. 2006 will be the final year under the microscope in our series covering the blues-rock of this century; notably, it is the only year we haven't fully reviewed during the entire run of "50 Shades of Blues-Rock." 10 Quick Shots will appear on our Blues Rock Charts telegram media channel shortly.

#50shadesrecap Today, we’re reminiscing from October last year. So, what were we listening to exactly one year ago on the main 50 Shades of Blues Rock channel? 60 tracks to look back on. They’re already up on our website. A little while later, we’ll refresh our memories on the Blues Rock Charts channel. Let’s get started!

We have already mentioned that the 2026 calendar is identical to that of 1998. What better reason to look back at the blues-rock scene of twenty-eight years ago? Since 1998, modern blues rock has evolved through a fusion of traditional roots with raw garage rock, minimalist indie instrumental arrangements, and darker, more introspective themes. The minimalist and unconventional instrumental arrangements were particularly notable: artists swapped massive stadium setups for raw acoustic guitars, warm tube amplifiers, and everyday objects—such as shovels or vintage cutlery chests—to create a percussive rhythm reminiscent of stomping on a back porch. More reading & tunes are on our retro webpage. Selected Hits to enter our Blues Rock Charts soon. Stay tuned!

#bluesrock New in October 2026. There will be a lot of things changing this month. The archival blues rock channel (Blues Rock 2000–2025) will be almost completely revamped. We’ll start covering blues rock from the year most similar to ours on the calendar—1998. The content of the main channels will begin to change — 50 Shades of Blues Rock, Cult Blues Rock, Female Blues, Heavy Blues Rock, and much more. The trend for the coming three months will focus mainly on blues rock from the third decade of our century. Neither too much nor too little, but almost seven years (2020–2026) have already passed by. Stay tuned. It’s going to be pretty cool!

The term "glamorous blues-rock" in the context of 2020 is an unofficial label describing how the genre adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. With global lockdowns bringing touring and concert venue operations to a complete halt, the genre began to evolve in unique directions that earned it this "glamorous" tag: • Impeccable studio sound replaced raw live energy. Historically, blues rock has been associated with a "gritty," smoky sound and the atmosphere of small bars. In 2020, deprived of the opportunity to perform live, artists channeled all their energy into creating meticulously crafted, flawlessly produced, and technically polished studio albums. • The year 2020 saw the release of stylish, visually striking, and commercially polished records from modern, more "glossy" representatives of the genre—such as Samantha Fish (whose album *Kill or Be Kind* topped the charts), Joe Bonamassa, Larkin Poe, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. These artists reintroduced high-end production values and spectacular presentation to a genre traditionally defined by rugged simplicity. • At the same time, a form of "lockdown overcompensation" was taking place—a trend that perfectly captured the irony of 2020. While the rest of the world sat at home in sweatpants, the blues rock scene responded with an explosion of vibrant, high-budget livestreams, stylish music videos, and eye-catching promotional campaigns designed to hold the attention of an isolated audience.

#bluesrock 2020 Today we’re kicking off our roundup of “glamorous” blues rock from 2020. And although we did a comprehensive roundup of 2020 last year—which was an milestone year—there are still quite a few releases that went flying under the radar. More music on our web site (Blues Rock 2000-2025). Selected tracks to hit Blues Rock Chart channel soon

#outstanding BloYaTop is an established Dutch hard rock and blues rock trio known for their energetic, punchy sound. Starting out as a ZZ Top cover band, the band released four studio albums before changing their name to Baby Killed The Roses in 2024. Music critics praise the band's uncompromising, "tight and rich" groove, excellent production quality and ability to combine tough '70s-inspired hard rock with elements of heavy blues and funk. Full story & music on 50 Shades of Blues Rock website. Selected tracks to come soon on Blues Rock Charts telegram channel.

#bluesrockmix Vol. 140 Today's mix will be a little out of the box. We're putting it in the context of a comparison between two years: 2004 versus 2018. Despite the 14-year gap, the blues-rock landscapes of 2004 and 2018 displayed striking structural similarities. Both years marked significant transitional periods where the genre simultaneously looked back—paying homage to its legends—and actively reimagined its future through the lens of contemporary indie and roots movements. More music and reading on our website. Selected Tops to appear shortly on Blues Rock Charts channel in telegram.

#albumbluesrock Vol. 30/2026 We are still looking back at 2006 releases. We will enjoy two fresh records and given the current coverage of 2004’s hits on the *Blues Rock 2000–2025* web page, we will also explore 4 powerful releases from that distant year. These are all well-known artists, making it a great time to revisit a wealth of memorable moments. More reading and full albums are already on our web site. Top 10 selection will appear shortly on Blues Rock Charts telegram media channel
