Previously, we featured themed records on other channels, but in May 2021, we realized we needed a separate channel where we could introduce you to annual releases and albums from previous years. The key defining characteristics of the 2014 movement were virtuoso slide guitar playing, gritty, declamatory vocals, and heavy, riff-heavy textures. Many musicians showcased epic, majestic, slowly evolving ballads that made modern heavy blues rock popular in 2014. This year also saw the continuous blurring of the boundaries between traditional blues, hard rock, and Motown-style R&B. A wave of artists sought to create a welcome change from slick, overly produced pop, emphasizing showboating performances and virtuosic blues-inspired guitar solos.
