| 2 |  Admire my omnipotent, breathtaking emperor pose as I spoke to the beautiful people who attended my Rochester Pub/History tours about the ancient wall behind 19th century 'Eagle Tavern'. Tracing back to the late 3rd century. Built by the Romans, the wall features a distinct lower section of Kentish ragstone and tile, with the upper layers dating to medieval and later rebuilds.
The ruins follow the line of the old city moat and offer a rare glimpse into the town's historical defensive circuit. Even if this was the only fascinating thing in Rochester (which it isn't), it would make the area worth visiting alone.
I find that in many ways, it's better to admire history than London, where modernity has taken hold and everything is so spread out.

Even if there weren't a great mamy architectural splendours within the building, the glass on its own would be enough of a reason to visit.
