Admire my omnipotent, breathtaking emperor pose as I spoke to the beautiful people who attended my Rochester Pub/History tour
Admire my omnipotent, breathtaking emperor pose as I spoke to the beautiful people who attended my Rochester Pub/History tours about the ancient wall behind 19th century 'Eagle Tavern'. Tracing back to the late 3rd century. Built by the Romans, the wall features a distinct lower section of Kentish ragstone and tile, with the upper layers dating to medieval and later rebuilds. The ruins follow the line of the old city moat and offer a rare glimpse into the town's historical defensive circuit. Even if this was the only fascinating thing in Rochester (which it isn't), it would make the area worth visiting alone. I find that in many ways, it's better to admire history than London, where modernity has taken hold and everything is so spread out. Thank you all, and I hope to see you soon. 🤝 📸 Louis

The decaying nature of "progress" in London means that grotty estates with rotting brickwork are built on old church grounds that create a heartbreaking, infuriating, and disrespectful contrast of the old and the new. Lewisham United Reformed Church (18 Courthill Rd, London SE13 6HB) was officially formed in 1797 with roots in the Congregational tradition. In 1861, the congregation relocated to Lewisham High Street, later moving to a site on Courthill Road. The church and its distinctive 1880 Victorian Sunday School complex are local landmarks. The congregation officially closed on December 12, 2024. Now, it's become a victim of modernities sting. ⏳️

Canterbury Cathedral houses some of the oldest, impressive, and most historically significant stained glass in the world, spanning from the mid-12th century to the present day. Even if there weren't a great mamy architectural splendours within the building, the glass on its own would be enough of a reason to visit. I've taken a few photos, which I'll post in time. ⏳️
