Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), through its AI and Robotics Center of Excellence, held a discussion with freshman and junior students to introduce the AI and Robotics Club and promote student engagement in technology and innovation.
The discussion highlighted the Center’s plans for the 2019 E.C. academic year, previous competition achievements, and upcoming projects. Dr. Habib Mohammed, Head of the Center, emphasized applying AI and robotics to real-world challenges, promoting ethical AI use, developing students’ practical skills, and encouraging participation in national and international competitions.

In his opening remarks, AASTU President Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn welcomed participants and highlighted the University’s commitment to internationalization through strategic partnerships, joint research, academic cooperation, and knowledge exchange. An Ethiopian delegation led by AASTU Team members (Dr. Melaku Berhe, Dr. Yodit G/Alif, and Dr. Geremew Teklu ) participated in the 6th International Olympiad on Financial Security, held in Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation, from September 26 to October 2, 2026.
The Olympiad brought together students selected from universities and high schools from 46 countries, competing in Information Security and International Relations streams.
Representing Ethiopia, Tihitina Mekonnen, a student at Addis Ababa University, earned a Second-Level Degree Award in International Relations, marking a notable achievement for the Ethiopian delegation.

የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዚዳንት ዶ/ር አሥራት ዓፀደወይን ከአካዳሚክ እና ከአስተዳደር ሠራተኞች እንዲሁም ከተማሪዎች ሕብረት ተወካዮች ጋር በመሆን የበዓለ ሲመታቸውን የመጀመሪያ መድረክ ንግግር አድርገዋል። በመድረኩም የተቋሙን ቀጣይ የትኩረት አቅጣጫዎች እና የለውጥ እቅዶች ይፋ አድርገዋል።
ዶ/ር አሥራት በንግግራቸው አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ አራተኛ ቤታቸው መሆኑን ገልጸው ተቋሙ ከሌሎች ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች በአዎንታዊ መልኩ የሚለይባቸው በርካታ ጥንካሬዎች እንዳሉት አንስተዋል። ሆኖም አሁን ያሉትን ጠንካራ ጎኖች ይበልጥ በማጠናከር የታዩ ክፍተቶችን በአጭርና በረጅም ጊዜ ዕቅዶች በመሙላት እንዲሁም ከኢንዱስትሪዎች እና ከዓለም አቀፍ ተቋማት ጋር በቅንጅት በመሥራት ዩኒቨርሲቲውን በምርምር፣ በፈጠራና በኢኖቬሽን የላቀ የልህቀት ማዕከል ማድረግ እንደሚገባ አጽንኦት ሰጥተዋል::
