This year's Halloween festivities will continue into early November. Part II begins at 10 AM local time on November 1 and runs until 8 PM local time on November 5.
Featured Pokemon
Like Part I, a new Pokemon is debuting during the second leg of this year's Halloween event: shiny Greavard. This marks the first time you'll have a chance to encounter this shiny variant in Pokemon Go.
Mega Sableye is also getting a power boost. Beginning with Part II, you'll be able to power up the Pokemon's Mega Level up to Super Max Level, which means it'll have access to an additional Charged Attack–Night Shade+--while it's Mega Evolved.
A few other themed Pokemon will also be available during the event. Costumed versions of Gengar and Rowlet will appear in the wild, as will ghost types like Litwick.

A variety of Field Research tasks will also be available. These can be claimed from PokeStops and will reward you with encounters with the event's featured Pokemon upon completion.
October may be coming to an end soon, but Pokemon Go has plenty of activities lined up for next month, including a global Wild Area event and a Pawniard Community Day. Check back soon for our November events roundup.
A spooky new Mega-Evolved Pokemon is making its debut on Halloween: Mega Chandelure.
The ghost/fire type will appear as a Super Mega Raid boss on October 31 from 2-5 PM local time, marking your first chance to get this Mega-Evolved form in Pokemon Go. Not only that, but you'll have increased odds of encountering shiny Chandelure from these Raids, and any Chandelure that you catch will have Mega Level 1 already unlocked.
A few other bonuses will be available during this mini-event. The number of Remote Raids you can join is being increased to 20 for a limited time, and you'll be able to get up to six free Raid Passes when you spin the Photo Disc at Gyms.

On top of that, the game will offer its own version of trick-or-treating. As you play, you'll periodically notice gift boxes on the map. Tap on these and you'll receive candy or initiate an encounter with a costumed Pokemon.
Finally, a few additional bonuses will unlock as you level up the event's Go Pass. Hit rank 10 and you'll receive extra candy for catching Pokemon, and you'll earn bonus Stardust on top of that if you reach rank 20.

The quality of Sonic Chronicles is certainly up for debate (https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/sonic-chronicles-the-dark-brotherhood-review/1900-6199160/), but the soundtrack is widely reviled, with the most ghastly MIDI tracks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o47N-aYd08) that couldn’t have possibly come from a reasonable human mind. Gossip from the internet and numerous retrospectives claim that the actual soundtrack was replaced for legal reasons about a week before copies were printed, but it’s hard to pin down a reliable source for that claim.
Ear-grinding music notwithstanding, the most interesting lore behind The Dark Brotherhood has to be the reasons why no follow-up materialized. EA’s purchase of BioWare certainly did Sonic Chronicles no favors, but many point to the infamously litigious (https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Ken_Penders%27_legal_cases) and self-aggrandizing (https://lawcat.berkeley.edu/record/1333946?v=pdf) Sonic comic artist and writer Ken Penders, the bane of many hardcore Sonic fans. Penders sued Sega and EA, claiming that the villains of Sonic Chronicles were too similar to his own villainous echidna clan from the Sonic Archie comics. While the lawsuit was dismissed, it’s believed that Sega has avoided using the characters since then to avoid further legal headaches.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood concluded with an ominous “THE END?” title card, and a cliffhanger would never get resolved (https://segabits.com/blog/2023/07/09/sonic-chronicles-2-plot-details-finally-revealed-including-the-reason-why-the-sequel-never-got-made/). It will never have a legacy anywhere close to that of BioWare’s other works, and it may not deserve one. But like all games, it deserves to be talked about.
When we eulogize BioWare (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/bioware-is-no-more-but-its-impact-on-queer-representation-in-video-games-will-live-on-forever/) (and any departed studio, for that matter), it’s important to acknowledge the good, bad, and weird in equal measure. That means recalling the duds like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem just as much as Jade Empire or Baldur’s Gate. Many of us might look back at them with disdain, while a rare few will look at them with affection. Yet all of us should look back at them with curiosity. And when considering BioWare’s body of work, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is a more curious game than any.
Remember That Time BioWare Made A Sonic The Hedgehog RPG?
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/remember-that-time-bioware-made-a-sonic-the-hedgehog-rpg/
Over the three decades of its existence, BioWare rightfully earned the reputation of a legendary role-playing game studio. The news of its closing (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-shuts-down-dragon-age-mass-effect-studio-bioware/) understandably has fans in mourning, and we’re left reminiscing about game franchises like Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age. But every studio has at least one oddity within its gameography, and the clear outlier for BioWare has to be Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
The 2008 Nintendo DS game is BioWare’s first--and only--handheld game. While the studio was no stranger to working with other IPs after making a Star Wars game, the upbeat and colorful world of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, et al. is a far cry from what those storytellers were used to. And it wasn’t some small, side project for BioWare; the studio assembled a team of 30 developers, led by director Mark Darrah (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-could-sell-bioware-ip-as-it-looks-to-tackle-its-massive-debt-former-boss-says/), who also directed the first two Dragon Age games, and writer Jay Turner, who wrote for Mass Effect 2 and 3.
Storywise, The Dark Brotherhood was a bit more complex than what Sonic the Hedgehog was used to, though noticeably simpler than usual BioWare fare. It’s a plot that involves a tribe of echidnas from an alternate dimension, introducing new, otherworldly characters and concepts. It’s a serviceable addition to Sonic canon (well, it was), and it should be no surprise that BioWare was able to come up with sharp dialogue for the Sonic characters we’re all familiar with.
Living up to the promise of a Sonic RPG, you, well, played the role of Sonic. Conversations had multiple dialogue options for the blue hedgehog, with choices allowing your Sonic to be compassionate, inquisitive, or straight-up rude (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJNpARTy3R8). While your choices might have affected the direction of the conversation, added romantic tension with Amy Rose, or even skipped some battles, this was still no Mass Effect, and your decisions didn’t cause any ripple effects on the plot.
The game itself took advantage of the DS’s capabilities, with overworld navigation happening on the bottom screen. You controlled Sonic (or one of his many friends) using the stylus, running around 2D hand-drawn environments from an isometric perspective, which felt awkward as heck. As opposed to a combat system with real-time elements, BioWare instead employed more traditional turn-based battles. Special attacks would have you tap and slide on the touch screen, following prompts like Elite Beat Agents. It was unique and engaging enough, but it quickly became tiresome.
World of Warcraft Forever Name Reservation Is Broken Ahead of Launch
https://www.ign.com/articles/world-of-warcraft-forever-name-reservation-is-broken-ahead-of-launch
The World of Warcraft Forever beta ended last week, and in the space in between that and the full launch on November 4, Blizzard is offering players the ability to reserve character names ahead of launch. There's only one problem, the system looks like it's broken.
GTA 6 File Size Revealed, And It’s Massive
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-file-size-revealed-and-its-massive/
Ahead of the game's release in November, GTA 6' (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-guides-hub-how-to-do-everything-in-grand-theft-auto-6/)s file size has been revealed, and it is massive. PlayStation Game Size reports that the $80 standard edition will take up 210GB of storage capacity.
Size details for the $100 Ultimate Edition--which includes a ton of content not in the regular version--were not made available. We also don't know the Xbox Series X|S file size, but it's likely around the same.
As announced previously, preloading for GTA 6 (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-preloading-start-date-and-what-to-know-about-digital-and-physical-copies/) begins on November 12, which is good news considering the game is massive in terms of its file size. People will no doubt have to delete other content to fit the game on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. This is double the file size (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-2-takes-up-a-ton-of-storage-sp/1100-6462634/) of Rockstar's last game, Red Dead Redemption II.
https://twitter.com/PlaystationSize/status/2115129198851522905
Everyone expected GTA 6's file size to be gigantic, but now there is a number behind it, and it's one that makes it among the largest games ever in terms of file size. GTA 6's map is three times bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2's (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-map-is-3x-bigger-than-red-dead-redemption-2s/), and the game is filled with lots of detail in the vein of that game's horse testicles (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-will-feature-lots-of-small-details-like-red-deads-dynamic-horse-testicle-physics/).
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it's expected to be the biggest game of all time. One report said the game could hit 25 million preorders by launch, generating $2 billion in revenue (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-preorders-alone-could-pay-for-production-budget-expert/).
GTA 6 is a strictly single-player game, but it's safe to assume that Rockstar will eventually release a new version of GTA Online (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/with-gta-6-online-rockstar-is-deciding-who-to-make-mad/). A PC edition, meanwhile, is expected in early 2027 (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-will-reportedly-come-to-pc-much-earlier-than-expected/).

Elden Ring Movie Might Be Extremely Long, And It Could Have Twitch Integration Eventually
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/elden-ring-movie-might-be-extremely-long-and-it-could-have-twitch-integration-eventually/
New details have come to light about A24's Elden Ring movie, including how Amazon could be involved and its beefy runtime.
According to Deadline (https://deadline.com/2026/10/elden-ring-biggest-movie-on-sale-market-amazon-joins-a24-1237201368/), Amazon MGM is buying up the Elden Ring movie's Pay-1 streaming rights for numerous international markets in a deal potentially worth "tens of millions of dollars." The site reported that there could be "interesting activations" on Amazon's Twitch platform as part of the deal. A Pay-1 rights deal means the company gets exclusive rights to broadcast a movie after it ends its theatrical run and comes to home video.
Netflix, for example, paid Sony billions of dollars for a Pay-1 deal that includes the live-action Zelda movie (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sonys-legend-of-zelda-movie-will-be-exclusive-to-netflix-after-theatrical-run/1100-6537457/). That was a global deal for many movies, though, and the report said Amazon MGM is booking an international deal specifically for the Elden Ring movie. It remains to be seen where the Elden Ring movie could stream after it wraps up in theaters.
The Elden Ring movie finished filming earlier this year and Industrial Light & Magic is now working on post-production efforts ahead of the movie's March 2028 release in theaters.
The film is based on From Software's game and was written and directed by Alex Garland, but the story details are being kept secret. Kit Connor is playing the lead, and the movie will apparently feature "battles between his character and impressive monsters and dragons."
The script is so secretive that A24 is reportedly booking flights for its staffers to potential international rights-buyers instead of sending the script digitally to ensure an A24 staffer is in the room as the script is being read. Additionally, the report said the script is at least 180 pages, meaning the film could stretch to a mighty three hours.
It was also reported that Elden Ring could become a movie franchise if the film does well, but no sequel plans are officially set yet.
In addition to Connor, the Elden Ring movie will star Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Tom Burke, Jonathan Pryce, and Nick Offerman.
Finally, the Deadline report backed up the earlier rumor that the Elden Ring movie cost as much as $200 million to produce (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/elden-ring-movie-is-reportedly-a-200-million-gamble-for-a24/), making it A24's most expensive film ever.
Blizzard Reveals Plan for World of Warcraft Forever Update Frequency
https://www.ign.com/articles/blizzard-reveals-plan-for-world-of-warcraft-forever-update-frequency
World of Warcraft Forever launches a week from today, and while the game will have a huge swath of content available on day one, there will be new content continually added to the game. But how frequently should fans expect new content to arrive? It sounds like Blizzard is willing to take things a little slower than in the modern version of World of Warcraft.
