MANIPUR POLICE ARRESTS TWO KEY ACCUSED IN INTERSTATE DRUG TRAFFICKING NETWORK On 24th October, 2026, in continuation of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, Senapati District Police arrested two key accused persons in connection with three FIRs registered under the NDPS Act at Senapati Police Station. The arrested persons have been identified as: 1. Roman Rai (21), s/o Dhanlal Rai, arrested from Kangpokpi District with the assistance of Kangpokpi District Police. 2. Amit Kumar Thapa (35), s/o Dilip Kumar Thapa, arrested from Bishnupur District with the assistance of Bishnupur District Police. Both accused persons had been absconding for a considerable period and are suspected to be key links in an interstate drug trafficking network connecting poppy cultivators in Manipur with drug traffickers operating in Rajasthan. A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) had also been issued against accused Amit Kumar Thapa by the Hon’ble Court. So far, a total of seven persons have been arrested in connection with the three FIRs, including the two recently arrested accused, who are suspected to be common suppliers in the cases. Further investigation is underway to identify and trace other members of the interstate drug trafficking network and establish its wider linkages extending to Rajasthan.

Sinai Camp Operation (23/10/2026) On 23/10/2026, a joint operation by Manipur Police, QAT CRPF and CoBRA was conducted at Sinai Camp, a designated SoO camp of KNO/KNA and KNO/KLA. During verification, 17 individuals were found impersonating registered SoO cadres (8 KNA and 9 KLA) using false identities. All 17 were arrested. Seizures: 24 firearms, 38 magazines, a large quantity of ammunition, explosives, wireless communication equipment and other combat gear. Accordingly, FIR No. 20(10)2026 YPI-PS was registered under relevant provisions of the BNS, Arms Act, Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act and Explosive Substances Act. All 17 accused have been remanded to 08 days' police custody till 31/10/2026. Their medical examinations have been completed. Further investigation is underway regarding the involvement of camp functionaries, impersonation, unauthorised possession of arms and violations of SoO ground rules.

MYANMAR, Under intense operational pressure and containment by Indian Security Forces along the border corridor, the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) delegation was forced into talks with Myanmar’s NSPNC (Thursday, October 22, 2026 at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar). A joint team of CRPF and Manipur Police detained 17 individuals from Sinai Camp because their names were not on the official Suspension of Operations (SoO) cadre list. Over 24 sophisticated weapons of various types, along with bombs and ammunition, were seized from them.

Assam Rifles continues to search Phailengkot area through Op Khojbeen (Phailengkot) on 23.10.2026. More illegal weapons have been recovered as follows- 1. 01 no. of 0.22 Rifle 2. 01 no. of CMG with magazine 3. 01 no. of Pistol (Japan ) with magazine 4. 01 no. of suspected IED Further, huge quantity of ammunition, magazines and other items were also recovered. On 22.10.2026, Churachandpur Police executed one operation wherein one individual from Thingkangphai village for his involvement in multiple extortion cases. From his possession, one looted 9mm Auto Pistol was recovered. The details of the individual are as follows: 1. Mr. Kamjau Vaiphei (32) s/o B Liantinlal Vaiphei of B Aijalon Village, Churachandpur Subsequently, based on the information provided by him during examination, a CASO was launched by joint teams of Churachandpur Police and 58 CRPF in the forest area near Teijang village in which 02 (two) more looted weapons and ammunition were recovered as follows - 1. 01(One) no. of AK 47 rifle 2. 01(One) no. of SLR 3. 05 (five) live rounds and 06 (six) empty cartridges of 7.62 mm.

A Kuki civilian, Paolen Thangeo, was killed by unidentified gunmen while collecting bamboo shoots near P. Moulding village, Saitu-Gamphazol subdivision, Leimakhong sector, Kangpokpi District, Manipur. Security forces are intensifying operations across vulnerable forest fringes.

In the Ukhrul district, approximately six houses belonging to the Kuki community in Patleijang—a hamlet located in the Chepu Yaolen / TM Kasom sector—were torched after villagers fled out of fear.
