According to the source, GUR special forces tried to detain unidentified men who had taken Russian Volunteer Corps commander Stepan Kaplunov, only to discover they were SBU officers. After commanders initially defused the confrontation, another SBU team arrived and began detaining GUR personnel, triggering a second shootout. Strana says casualties were reported. Local channels claim one GUR officer was killed and two wounded. The source suggested the underlying dispute may involve rival security services competing to protect lucrative scam call centers. He claims several agents walked off the job refusing to help perform the enforcement. He claims ICE got calls from Washington every 20 minutes or so and that they moved him every three hours so his lawyers wouldn’t know where he was. He said he was denied phone calls. The Explanation: Milo claims that he had no idea he was to be deported. He said the ICE agents who held him told him they knew his lawyer’s contact info, but nevertheless, they canceled his residency and visas early without telling him or his lawyer and sent notices to addresses they knew he no longer lived at. He intends to appeal and contest the action in court, suggesting that the judge who ordered his deportation will not be happy once they are in full possession of the facts about how the government played it. He is otherwise doing well, has spoken with colleagues in America, and says that he is alright regardless.

🚢 Hormuz crossings fall by half Strait of Hormuz traffic declined sharply on 31 August, with five confirmed crossings, down 50% from 10 a day earlier. Four vessels entered the Middle East Gulf and one exited, using a mix of Iranian, Omani and negotiated routes. Two crossings involved shadow vessels and one involved a sanctioned vessel. Bab el Mandeb activity was comparatively stable, with 35 confirmed crossings, up 2.9% day on day. Of these, 19 entered the Red Sea and 16 exited. Following the Soviet collapse, Ufimtsev moved to the US, where his aerospace engineering concepts were integrated into US military research.
