| 3 | 🌾 Gram Priya – 10-Year RPLI Money-Back Insurance Plan
Gram Priya is a special Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) plan offered by the Department of Posts. It is a 10-year money-back insurance plan that combines life insurance protection with periodic payouts during the policy term.
💰 How Does the Money-Back Benefit Work?
For example, if you take a Gram Priya policy with a Sum Assured of ₹5 lakh:
🔹 4th Year: ₹1 lakh (20%)
🔹 7th Year: ₹1 lakh (20%)
🔹 10th Year: ₹3 lakh (60%) + applicable bonus
Thus, you receive a portion of the Sum Assured during the policy term, with the balance and applicable bonus paid at maturity.
🛡️ What Happens in Case of Death?
If the policyholder dies during the policy term, the nominee receives the full Sum Assured + applicable bonus.
The money-back amounts already paid are not deducted from the death benefit.
👤 Who Can Take Gram Priya?
The policy is available to eligible persons aged 19 to 45 years, for a fixed term of 10 years.
Under the new RPLI eligibility conditions, even persons who are not eligible for PLI and do not reside in rural areas can avail RPLI, provided they have an operative Savings Bank Account with POSB or any Scheduled Bank, subject to the applicable RPLI conditions.
💵 Sum Assured
▫️Minimum: ₹10,000
▫️Maximum: ₹10 lakh.
🌧️ Special Relief During Natural Calamities
Eligible policyholders affected by floods, droughts, earthquakes or other notified natural calamities may avail special relief in premium payment (waiver of penalty fee for one year), subject to the prescribed conditions and submission of the required certificate.
