| 2 | ʿAshura’: A Day of Divine Mercy & Hope
On this day, Allah saved Prophet Mūsā (ʿalayhis-salām) and his people from Pharaoh. A day of victory for the oppressed, and a reminder that relief comes after hardship.
-Fasting on ‘Āshūrā’ wipes away the sins of the past year.
-Its story renews our hope in Allah’s power and mercy.
Let’s revive this day with faith — by fasting, remembrance, and du‘ā’.
And let’s not forget our oppressed brothers and sisters across the world.
O Allah, grant them freedom as You granted freedom to Prophet Mūsā (ʿalayhis-salām), and grant them victory like You granted Your righteous servants.
“And remind them of the days of Allah.” — Sūrah Ibrāhīm (14:5) | 457 |
| 3 | Tomorrow is the blessed day of ʿĀshūrāʾ. Despite the intense heat, we should remember that the Ṣaḥābah and the righteous predecessors viewed fasting on hot days as a tremendous opportunity to draw closer to Allah and attain a greater reward.
While advising his son during his final moments, ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) mentioned fasting during the intense heat of summer among the qualities of true īmān. (Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif)
Ibn Rajab (raḥimahullāh) wrote:
“Among the acts of obedience whose reward is multiplied during intense heat is fasting, because of the thirst experienced during the midday heat.”
(Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif)
Abū al-Dardāʾ (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) said:
“Pray two rakʿahs in the darkness of the night for the darkness of the grave. Fast on a very hot day for the heat of the Day of Resurrection, and give charity to ward off the perils of a very difficult Day.” | 578 |
| 4 | As we witness the horrific genocide continuing in Gaza and the Blessed Land, the 10th of Muḥarram brings a message of deep hope.
Mūsā (ʿalayhis-salām) and the believers stood at the sea, seemingly trapped before Firʿawn’s army. Yet Allah granted them victory and saved them in a way no one expected.
Victory does not belong to the powerful or the wealthy, but to those whom Allah supports. Time and again, Allah has granted success to a small group of believers who had little in worldly means, over tyrannical and mighty forces.
ʿĀshūrāʾ reminds us that when īmān is firm and reliance is upon Allah, even those who appear weakest can be granted the greatest victory.

| 6 |  The extreme heat we experience is a reminder of the Hellfire, so that we do not become heedless of it, but instead increase in seeking refuge with Allah from it, repent to Him, and prepare for the Hereafter.
رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَـنَّمَ ۖ اِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا. اِنَّهَا سَآءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَّمُقَامًا
“Our Lord, turn away from us the punishment of Hellfire. Indeed, its punishment is endless. Indeed, it is an evil residence and abode.” (25:65-66) | 717 |

| 18 | On this blessed day of Jumuʿah, in the sacred month of Muḥarram, and in this blessed period after ʿAṣr, turn to Allah with sincerity as a humble beggar. Ask Him for all of your needs and seek His forgiveness.

| 19 |  One of the etiquettes and means of having your duʿā’ answered is to precede it by mentioning a sincere deed done solely for the sake of Allah. This is known as tawassul through righteous actions. | 20 |  By your life, there is none in creation like Muḥammad ﷺ.
Increase in sending ṣalawāt upon the best of creation ﷺ, especially on the day and night of Jumuʿah. Through it, ranks are elevated, sins are forgiven, blessings descend, and it is a means of attaining his intercession on the Day of Judgement, along with countless other benefits.
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَىٰ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَىٰ اٰلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ. اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَىٰ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَىٰ اٰلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ. | 1 047 |
