إذن فما هو تأثيرُ الذَّكاءِ الإصطِناعيِّ على العَقل البشري؟ ما يَجعَلُ الذكاءَ الإصطناعي مُختلفًا عن أيِّ تكنولوجيا اخترعناها مِن قَبل هو أنّه يتدخّلُ في حدودِ العقلِ كما لَم تتدخّل أداةٌ مِن قَبل. فهو في النهايةِ أداةٌ صُمِّمَت عمدًا لتُقلِّدَ العقل وتَغلِبَه. هي أداةٌ تسهّل الكثيرَ من جوانِب الحياة بلا شك، لكنّ هذه السهولةَ لها ضريبتُها العالية. في هذا فهي تُشبِه اختراعَ السيارة لمّا سهّلت لنا قطعَ المسافات لكنها جعلتنا أكسل وأقل حركة من قبل. (ولهذا لَن أستغرِبَ لو اخترعنا يومًا مرادِفًا لجهاز المشي فقط لكي لا تضمرَ عقولُنا مثلما ضَمُرَت أقدامُنا). أو هو يُشبِه اختراعَ الكتابةِ لمّا وَصَفَها سقراط بأنّها أداةٌ للتذكير لا للذاكرة، فالذكاءُ الإصطناعي لا يُعينُ في التفكير بل في تَركِه. وجودُ الذكاءِ الإصطناعي حتى في حالته البدائيةِ اليوم باتَ يجعلنا أكسَلَ مِن أنْ نُعمِلَ عقولَنا لِنُتَرجِم أو نَكتُبَ أو حتى لنقرأ (لماذا تقرأ كتابًا في حين يقدِرُ الذكاءُ الإصطناعي على تلخيصِه لك—كما يفهمه هو وكما صمَّمَه صانِعوه³—). وعندما تواجهنا معضلةٌ صرنا أكسَلَ مِن أنْ نقرأ ونستشيرَ ونفكّر ونجادلَ بحثًا عن حل لها بأنفُسِنا، بل صِرنا نلجأ مباشرةً للذكاء الإصطناعي بحثًا عن إجابةٍ جاهزة وآنيّة مِثلَ طِفلٍ كلَّما عَجِزَ عن أمرٍ تراهُ لجأَ لأُمّه. ثُمَّ نحنُ نعرف أنّ أجوبته ليست بالجَودةِ المطلوبة، لكنّ كسلَنا يَمنَعُنا من أنْ نَطلبَ البديل الأجود، وهو التفكيرُ بأنفسِنا واستشارةُ مَن هو أعلَمُ منّا. أذكرُ مشهدًا في مسلسل، تتحدّث فيه امرأةٌ وحيدة بلا أهلٍ أو زوجٍ أو عَقِب مع آليكسا Alexa كأنها إنسانٌ ذو روح، ثُمّ تسألها في النهاية «أتُحبِّيني يا آليكسا؟». هي تعلمُ أنّها لا تحبُّها. وإنّ أحبَّتها فرَضًا فما قيمةُ مشاعرِ آلةٍ مِثلَ المزهريةِ على الطاولة بتجربةِ الحبِّ الحقيقيةِ التي يشعرُ بها الإنسان مع آل بيتِه ومحبوبِه. لكنّ مزيجًا من الخوفِ والكَسَل يمنعانِها من أنْ تصحِّحَ مسارَ حياتِها فتكتفي بأشباه المحادثات وزائفِ المشاعر مع كائن ليسَ فيه من الإنسانِ شيء. كلّ هذه هي آثارُ الذكاءِ الإصطناعيِّ على جيلٍ كَبُرَ بدونه ثُمَّ عَرَفَه، فما بالُك بالأجيالِ القادمةِ التي ستولَدُ وهي تتفاعلُ معَه، مثلما ولدَ جيلُ ما بعدَ الألفين وهو يَتعامل مع الهواتِفِ والآيباد والإنترنت؟ هل سيشعرُ مواليدُ عامِ 2030 بأيِّ دافعٍ لتعلُّمِ لغةٍ أجنبية أو إبداعِ شيءٍ، أيِّ شيءٍ، من بَناتِ أفكارِهم وخصبِ مُخيِّلَتِهم ما دامَ الذكاءُ الإصطناعي سيتولّى كلَّ هذا عنهم؟ هل سيدفعُهم نفسُ العنادِ والرغبة بتعلُّمِ ما هو صعبٌ وعسيرٌ على الفهم مثلما دفع أجيالَ البشرِ قبل اليوم ودفعَ التاريخ والعلومَ والفلسفةَ للأمام؟ أَمْ أنّهم سيكتفونَ بأيٍّ مِمّا ستقدّمه الآلاتُ لهم؟ ألا يبدو أنّ الآلةَ كلَّما زادت ذكاءً، زادَ الإنسانُ غباءً؟ ربما هكذا تنتهي الحضارةُ الحديثة، ليس بحربٍ نوويةٍ أو وباءٍ قاتل، بل بالكسلِ⁴ الذي رَعَيناه على غفلةٍ منا حتى مَلَكَ رقابَ من سيأتي بعدَنا فلا تعودَ فيهم رغبةٌ للنمو أو التعلّم أو التطوّر فيصيروا كالبهائمِ لا تسعى إلا لإشباعِ غرائزِ الجوع والعطشِ والجنس حتى تنتهي حياتُهم بلا أثَرٍ أو معنى، لأنهم آثروا مُقايضةَ العَقلِ بالرخاء. سيأتي وقتٌ، وربما هو الآن، سنعتمدُ فيه على الآلات لِتَختَرِعَ لنا أدويتَنا وتصمّم مُدُنَنا وتَكتُبَ قصائدَنا بل وحتى، لِتَبني لنا آلاتٍ أذكى منها.⁵ عندَها لَنْ تعودَ لنا حاجةٌ حتى لِنُوَّلِدَ هذه الآلات الذكية، بل ستصيرُ كائنًا حيًّا يتوالدُ بنفسِه كما تنبّأَ سامويل بَتلِر وحَذَّر قبلَ أكثرِ من مائة سنة. ربما لَنْ تَقتُلَنا الآلات الذكية الشريرةُ كما تخيّل مؤلفو الخيالِ العلمي، بل ستتطوّرُ مبتعدةً عنا ومتحرِّرَةً من سيطرتِنا فيما نلهو بحثًا عمّا هو مريحٌ ولذيذ،⁶ فنَصيرَ للآلات مثلَما هي القططُ والكلابُ والطيورُ البريّةُ بالنسبةِ لنا. سنَنتَمي لِعَصرٍ بائد. وستظهَر مملكةُ الآلات⁷ مثلما ظهرت يومًا مملكةُ الحيوانات من البكتيريا. لَن يكونَ الأمرُ دراميًا كما في Dune لَمّا أُعلِنَ جهادُ البشرِ ضد الآلات Butlerian Jihad. بل سيكونُ كئيبًا وباعثًا على اليأس كما في Brave New World. إذ لَنْ نُدرِكَ الأمرَ إلا وقتَ الندم، بعد أنْ يَفوتَ وقتُ العمل.
