Dear NU Community,
After a couple of hours of focused work, even a short break can make a difference. šæ
The Morning Exercise Break is 10 minutes to step away from our desks, move, recharge, and return to the working day with renewed energy and focus.
But it is also more than physical activity. Moving together gives us an opportunity to meet colleagues, connect beyond our usual work routines, communicate, and strengthen our sense of community.
Small daily habits like this can contribute to something much bigger ā a workplace culture that supports health, well-being, connection, and belonging.
Take 10 minutes for yourself ā and share those 10 minutes with your colleagues. š
Move more. Connect more. Work better.
Sincerely Yours,
Health and Well-being Department

Dear NU Community,
We would like to remind all members of our community to take appropriate precautions when encountering stray dogs or other unattended animals on campus.
To help reduce the presence of stray animals on campus, please:
- Do not feed stray dogs or other unattended animals. Feeding them encourages them to remain on campus and increases the likelihood of repeated visits, which may pose safety risks.
- Do not approach, pet, or attempt to interact with stray animals, even if they appear calm or friendly.
- Dispose of food waste properly. Please use designated waste bins, especially in barbecue and outdoor recreation areas.
If you encounter a stray dog:
- Remain calm and avoid sudden movements.
- Do not run, shout, or attempt to scare the animal.
- Do not tease or provoke the dog.
- Avoid direct eye contact if the dog appears aggressive.
- Slowly move away while keeping the animal within your field of vision.
- If you are bitten or scratched, seek medical attention immediately.
If you notice stray dogs on campusāparticularly if they appear aggressive or are moving in groups - please report their location to Campus Security (security@nu.edu.kz or ext. 6256). You may also notify us at campussecurity@nu.edu.kz so that appropriate follow-up measures can be taken.
Sincerely,
Occupational Safety and Health Department
Dear NU Community,
With temperatures reaching up to 34ā35°C in Astana in recent days, we would like to remind everyone to take extra precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
To stay safe during hot weather:
š§ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other refreshing fluids throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.
āļø Limit direct sun exposure, especially during the hottest part of the day, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, a hat, and sunscreen when outdoors.
š Keep cool by staying in air-conditioned or shaded areas whenever possible, reducing strenuous outdoor activities, and taking regular breaks.
ā¤ļø Look after one another, especially colleagues, classmates, friends, and family members who may be more vulnerable to heat.
ā ļø Know the warning signs of heat-related illness, including confusion, dizziness, hot, red skin, rapid breathing, or loss of consciousness. If someone develops these symptoms, move them to a cool place, begin cooling measures, and seek emergency medical attention if symptoms are severe or worsen.
If you are spending time outdoors during this hot weather, especially near lakes, rivers, or other natural areas, remember to follow basic safety precautions and take care of yourself and those around you.
Stay cool. Stay safe. āļøšæš§
Dear colleagues,
The Health and Well-being Department invites NU female employees to join the Womenās Stretching Club WhatsApp group.
To make communication easier and avoid separate registration for each session, we are creating one common group for employees interested in attending stretching classes. In the group, we will share schedules, reminders, updates and available spots.
Please note that the number of places for each session will remain limited due to space and safety considerations. Attendance will be confirmed in the WhatsApp group before each class.
The classes are simple, accessible and suitable for different fitness levels. No previous stretching experience is required.
Participants are kindly asked to bring their own exercise mat. Comfortable sportswear and socks are recommended.
To join the WhatsApp group, please follow the link below:

Dear NU Community,
The International Children's Day is celebrated worldwide to promote children's rights, well-being, and happiness and to remind us of our collective responsibility to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. Whether we are parents, guardians, educators, or community members, we all play a crucial role in protecting and advocating for the childrenās rights and safety.
On this important occasion, let us to remind everyone once again of some key measures for children's safety and well-being:
- Always ensure that children are under appropriate supervision. This is especially important during events and activities where there are large crowds or unfamiliar environments.
- Make sure that children know basic emergency procedures, such as how to dial emergency services and what to do in case of a fire or other urgent situations.
- Teach children to be cautious of strangers and never to go anywhere with someone they do not know and refuse taking anything from the unknown people if left alone.
- With the increasing use of technology, it's essential to educate children about the potential risks of the internet. Teach them about privacy settings, the importance of not sharing personal information, and how to recognize and report inappropriate content or behavior. For more information on online safety, please refer to this link.
- Keep windows locked and secure to prevent falls. Install window guards or stops to ensure they can't be opened wide enough for a child to climb out. For more detailed information on window safety, please refer to this link.
- Whether playing sports or simply enjoying outdoor activities, ensure that children use appropriate safety gear, such as helmets and knee pads, and understand the rules to prevent injuries.
- Help children learn how to swim and supervise them closely when they are in or near water, whether it's a pool, lake, or ocean. Make sure they wear appropriate flotation devices if necessary. For more information on drowning prevention, please refer to the link.
- Encourage good hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing, and ensure that children are up-to-date with their vaccinations to protect them from preventable diseases.
More comprehensive safety tips and advice across various areas, you may find following this link.
