@RusEmbUSA
🇷🇺 🇺🇸 Comment by Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov following Vladimir Putin’s meeting with US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner
Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov: I would like to brief you on today’s meeting.
Colleagues, as you know, at the instruction of the President of the United States, his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow on September 5 to continue the dialogue on resolving the crisis in Ukraine and to discuss other pressing issues. This was their eighth visit to our country.
President Vladimir Putin received the US representatives. At the very beginning of their conversation, he publicly praised this channel of mediation and the role played by the American negotiators. He also conveyed his best wishes to President Donald Trump and thanked him for his efforts to advance a settlement in Ukraine, as well as for his sincere desire to help achieve a swift and mutually acceptable outcome.
What else can be added to what the President himself has already said? The conversation lasted more than three hours – three hours and ten minutes, to be precise. It was substantive, constructive, exceptionally frank, and conducted in an atmosphere of trust. The discussion, which covered extremely serious matters, continued both during the working portion of the meeting as well as in an informal setting over dinner.
As regards the substance of the discussions, the Russian side provided clear and comprehensive assessments of the situation developing in the course of the special military operation. In particular, the Russian side highlighted the significant advances made by the Russian armed forces in the combat zone, expressed confidence that the set objectives would be achieved, and, obviously, stressed the need to address all the root causes of the conflict.
Our President reaffirmed his commitment to continuing joint work with the American side to seek political and diplomatic solutions. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, for their part, undertook to draw on the observations and assessments conveyed to them personally by the Russian President regarding possible avenues toward a lasting and peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine during their meetings in Kiev tomorrow.
Incidentally, our American colleagues had made considerable preparations for this trip. In addition to reiterating their traditional interest in bringing the hostilities to an early end, they put forward a number of considerations concerning possible ways of reaching a settlement.
It is also worth noting that the Americans took particular note of a point emphasised by our President: namely, that the Kiev regime has already ceased to conceal its true nature, having begun the reburial of some of the most prominent Nazi criminals.
The talks were not confined to an exchange of views on resolving the Ukrainian crisis. Economic issues were also discussed, including the prospects for major Russia-US projects that could be mutually beneficial to both sides.
Overall, it can be said that the talks were timely and highly beneficial to both sides. It was confirmed that the Presidents of our countries will further maintain personal contact, and that the work conducted through Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will also continue.
Thank you for your attention, colleagues.

| 8 | The Alternative for Germany (AfD) surged into first place in state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday, exit polls showed, putting a far-right party on the cusp of power at state level for the first time since World War Two.
The AfD won 44.4% of the vote, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservatives trailing well behind on 18.3%, and the centre-left Social Democrats and environmental Greens both clearing the minimum threshold to enter parliament, according to an exit poll from the ARD broadcaster.
As counting continued, it remained unclear whether the AfD had secured enough votes to win an absolute majority in parliament. But the wider political significance of the election, which saw turnout over 80%, according to the ZDF broadcaster, was clear.
"We have made history in this country," said Ulrich Siegmund, the 35-year-old AfD lead candidate in Saxony-Anhalt, who drew thousands to his campaign rallies and who repeatedly cast victory in the state as a first step towards securing national power in federal elections due in 2029.

| 9 | John Fetterman wanted to write and op-ed in support of Israel and asked Israel’s ambassador to send him talking points.
His staff then hid the talking points from him over fears it would violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
....
New reporting from The Wall Street Journal sheds further light on Fetterman’s isolation in office and seeming apathy about the routine parts of his job.
According to the paper, Fetterman has frequently rebuffed meetings with constituents — including officials from one of the nation’s most renowned children’s hospitals and military veterans — and found ways to avoid participating in hearings while making a point of keeping up media appearances and having sit-downs related to his advocacy for Israel.
The story was met with anger by Fetterman’s critics, some of whose names have been floated as potential 2028 primary challengers against the unpopular (at least with Democrats) senator.
Former representative Conor Lamb, who came in second place to Fetterman in the 2022 Democratic primary, had a blunt message for Fetterman, writing, “If there is a decent bone left in your body, just quit. It’s an insult to decent people in our state for you to treat them and the office this way.”
Brendan Boyle, a Philadelphia congressman also said to be eyeing the seat, called Fetterman a “disgrace,” adding, “Our state deserves better than a lazy trust-fund baby who is too lazy to do the job.”
After the story was published, NOTUS reported that a group of Fetterman’s former staffers had officially launched an X account, confirming the ownership of the account which promised to share stories “to show Pennsylvanians exactly who their Senator is.”

Unsettling facts have emerged about Putins meeting with Witkoff in Moscow yesterday:
🗣 Putin reportedly ranted to the two US envoys about how well Russia was doing on the frontline naming battlefield examples he had been given by his commanders.
🔊 He then went on to talk about the root causes of the war in his eyes a part historical lessons, which he prefaced saying had not been addressed yet therefore the war could not end.
🔊 US negotiators noted he saw himself in an increasingly strong position and therefore was hardening his negotiation positions.
🔊 Putin explicitly asked Witkoff to pass messages about battlefield success to the Ukrainians.
🔊 The conclusion was Putin was far away from wanting to end the war.

| 15 | Oregon has a "solution": Drop Boxes. 🤨
With the November election two months away, amid shifting federal orders and ongoing court fights over mail-in voting, Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read was in Bend Thursday urging voters to stay the course.
He's pledging that the state's elections will remain safe, accurate and fair no matter how the legal battles play out.
"What if the Supreme Court issues a reprehensible ruling between now and November?” one concerned resident asked Read as he met with the League of Women Voters Thursday.
The Supreme Court is hearing arguments over President Donald Trump's executive order to limit mail-in voting. But many states, including Oregon, sued to block it.
“We run safe, accurate and fair elections in Oregon," Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read said.
"We're going to continue to do that, defend our authority to do it, and make sure that every legal vote is counted accurately.”
Read is echoing that message along his Oregon Votes Town Hall tour, which continued at OSU-Cascades Thursday night -- ensuring residents the upcoming election will be business as usual.
“I issued a directive to Oregon's local elections officials instructing them to proceed with this November election according to current Oregon law,” Read said.
With the uncertainty surrounding mail-in voting, Read is encouraging voters to start planning their votes early and to deliver ballots to official election drop boxes.
He plans to go to the Oregon legislature next week to ask for funding to build even more drop boxes.
“It is the safest, most reliable way to make sure that ballots get back and get counted accurately," Read said. "We're going to be seeking funding to put more ballot drop boxes out there.”
Regardless of the decision from the Supreme Court, Read says he will do everything in his power to protect Oregon's elections.

Johnson said on TV that was “stupid” and “nonsensical.”
📞 But then he got a call from “upstairs” and canceled Congress from the middle of September until the election.

| 19 | Steve Bannon:
Look What ‘Tel Aviv ‘ Levin and Benjy Shapiro Wrought:
More voters are identifying as Democrats and shying away from calling themselves Republican, according to the latest quarterly data published by Gallup.
Some 49% of voters surveyed leaned Democrat, including independent voters asked to pick one party or the other. Only 39% of respondents leaned Republican.
That 10-point spread marks a sharp reversal from the four-point advantage that Republicans held over Democrats in the fourth quarter of 2024, when voters sent Donald Trump back to the White House and Republicans swept both houses of Congress. Democrats are seeing their most sizable advantage since 2008, when Barack Obama was elected president, according to the New York Times.
The data offers the latest evidence that Trump’s second term has proved unpopular with voters, driving a potential backlash.
Trump’s approval rating stood at 52% at the time of his second inauguration in January of 2025, according to an average of polls published by the New York Times.
But his popularity dwindled immediately, as he cleaved the federal workforce, imposed price-inflating tariffs, passed a profligate spending bill and launched a rudderless war with Iran. Some 58% of voters now disapprove of his performance, with only 38% approving, according to the Times.
