Introducing TldRecap (@tldrecap_bot)! A Telegram bot that summarizes group chat conversations using Google's Gemini AI. Lol, it's a redeployment of TldReply (@tldreply_bot). Since it hasn't been working for a while now, I figured I could try building it myself. But to my surprise, I found the whole repository as an open source project on GitHub. So, all I needed to do was deploy it with a new bot username. And so, I forked the repository onto my GitHub account. I created a Supabase project and copied the DATABASE_URL (I chose Connect → Direct Connection String → Session pooler (because "Direct connection" uses IPv6 and it failed to use it on Render, while "Session pooler" uses IPv4, and worked) → Connection string. I also opened the SQL Editor and executed the code found in the repository's file: src/db/schema.sql, creating the required tables. I generated an ENCRYPTION_SECRET environment variable using the OpenSSL command:
openssl rand -hex 32
used for encrypting API keys. I went to Telegram's @BotFather, and created a bot named TldRecap (@tldrecap_bot), and gave it the exact same list of commands as TldReply (@tldreply_bot). I copied the bot's TELEGRAM_TOKEN. So, with the above three environment variables and NODE_ENV=production, I was about to deploy it on Render. Gemini recommended that I choose Background Workers as the service type. But the problem with that was that it had no free tier, unlike the Web Service option. And the latter option needed to expose a port in order to work, which the upstream code didn't do. And so, I updated the forked code for that reason, and for an additional one: a health check API so that I can keep the deployment alive using UpTimeRobot. Free tier Render automatically spins down the deployment if it is idle for 15 minutes. But with UpTimeRobot, I can ping it every 5 minutes, keeping it constantly alive. The deployment failed because it wasn't installing the devDependencies. I had never encountered that kind of error before, but I found out that it was happening because the NODE_ENV environment variable was set to production. So, I had to edit the Render build command and make it as follows:
npm install --include=dev && npm run build
(Note the --include=dev flag.) It failed again due to tsconfig.json problems, and I fixed that as well. I added a commit that lets owners and admins having the "Remain anonymous" setting turned on set up groups (or at least notify them to temporarily disable their anonymity). I also added another one that makes it use the latest Gemini models (like 3.6 Flash), and fixes a little formatting bug in the generated summaries. And so, the TldRecap bot (@tldrecap_bot) is completely working now. Add it to your group, set it up with your Gemini API key, and try out the /tldr command (e.g., /tldr 100 detailed). Enjoy! https://github.com/Abel-Tessema/tldreply-bot

The gc would've been really confused without this sijemer lol well done man

My heart aches listening to this fr I will be missing some days of kidase because of work😭 So jealous when I see netela yelebesu people passing by lol becha pray for me y'all

If you have problems remembering new words that you searched up recently, like me, it's actually a great app. I had the chance to test it y'all should try it... Glazed hena enough but you did great man😂🔥

📖 Meet WordBucket — a reading companion built to help you grow your vocabulary without interrupting your reading. One thing that always frustrated me (to ungodly levels of tweakery) was having to leave a book, article or document every time I came across an unfamiliar word. I'd search for the definition, lose my place, and by the time I got back, I'd often forget the word anyway. So I built WordBucket. With WordBucket, you can highlight a word and Bucketify it to instantly view its definition and save it for later. If an app doesn't support custom text actions, simply copy the word, pull down Quick Settings and tap Bucketify. ✨ What you can do: • Save definitions, pronunciations and examples from you favorite reader (or anywhere random) • Review words with active recall and spaced reviews • Track your progress with learning and retention statistics • See your strongest and weakest vocabulary • Enjoy eight paper-inspired themes with light and dark mode • Keep everything stored locally—no account required WordBucket is currently available for Android as a direct APK download (Sorry IOS peeps🥺). 🌐 Download: [WORDBUCKET] (Play around with the palette, it'll give you a preview of what you'll get yourself into🔥) The app is still evolving, and I'd genuinely love to hear your feedback, feature ideas or bug reports. Every suggestion helps make it a little better. #project (shameless plug😂)
